Definitely not worth 100 bucks, considering dt880,990 are 115 bucks. 599 goes on sale for 100bucks, these go on sale for 70 bucks. SHP9500 is a better deal than these at 70 bucks, or CAL! if you can do closed back. These are bad for music listening, they are ok for movies and games but shp9500 is probably better at those.

Thinking about buying the 559 since i have very sensitive skin on my ears it. Looks comfy, price is fine, sound seems fine but i'm hesitant cuz i don't want much sound to leak when i'm not using push to talk. I get very close to my mic and don't want others to hear any echo.
for anyone considering getting it just a warning for me it took good 2 months before my head stopped hurting from the clamp. After owning it for years now I can confirm it breaks in a bunch but the first 2 months are hell.

These heaphones are so bad the hyperx cloud ii are MUCH better... a gaming headset is better than these! The samsung buds are better than these!!
HD 559 are very engaging in all music. The 50 ohm sensitivity rating makes them much easier to drive and therefore less finicky about what you power them with. If you like Sennheiser sounding HP's you will adore the HD 559. IMO.

Are they better than Samson SR850? My SR850 is breaking apart after 3 years of use, all the plastic thingies have broken around screwholes, so I'm looking for a comfortable open-back replacement. I'd like headphones that I can use when working from home all day long and also enjoy movies and music after work. So, maybe not necessarily open-back but something that doesn't isolate me and doesn't make my ears feel hot and sweaty. It's sad to see how few decent open-back headphones there are under 100$. Ten years ago I had open-back Beyerdynamics for about 50$ but now there are no such models.

I do agree, the bass is extremely prominent but I've gotten used to it and I really like it now.

Iam looking for some detailed info regarding hd 558. I have no chance to try them somewhere. Your excellent breakdown of the sound signature of the hd559+ make me wonder maybe you have experience with the hd558 and you wouldnt mind putting dowm a few sentences? I know they are spatial but cant find any info about the frequency response. I am afraid the bass is similarly hyped and drowning the mids a bit like 559?

Hi, I want to buy headphones for my friend and currently HD 559 cost 340 PLN in Poland- it's about 75€ because of the discount and HD 569 cost almost twice as much (around 140€), are 559 worth it then? He will use them for music and gaming, I know that HyperX could be better or something like that but he needs open heads. What do you think? Cheers and thanks for your work!

I was wonder why the 559 ( cheapest ) have more longevity... you can change the band foam and ear pads... you cant do it easely in the others more expensive. why sennheiser dont do that more?( serie 6s you can do that..... if i want something expensive, i want to be able to change anything before it bacames the audio technica ath-m50x with fake leather exploding everywhere. This was part of the reason why i bought dt 990 pro 250ohm.... and now im gonna sell them because my ears are always trying to explode with the tremble and bend inside the the ear pads.... ( im wainting for hd 58x ). but i really think beyerdynamic makes a good job with concecpt..... i wish more brands did this...

I ordered the 598 Cs's a few months before this video went out lol and found it several years later. The pads btw are garbage. I had to replace mine within a few months which I think made the highs even worse. I just remember hearing a song that was listenable and now aren't with the Brainwavz pads I bought (more or less on a whim because I heard they wouldn't disintegrate which they haven't :D).
