Worst headphones I used, they press ears a lot, basically after few hours of usage you need new pair of ears.

How about the isolation? I'm planning to ise this for studio vocal recording, I don't want the sound of instrument from the headphone being picked up by the mic I use for recording vocald.

@Jason I'd say to get the DT990 because they are much better in all most of the features. This are good for a very cheap price. I myself am a sound mixer and designer, I do think the HD201 are great if you want a neutral point of view on your sound, they are not the best if you are producing for example tho. Let's say this are good for film editing. I also do film scoring and would say this is not the best when I'm writing something because they lack the presence of the experience you hear on other sound systems. Neither are that good if you want to produce. I'd def get this guys just to have them on my desk in case I want to finish my mix or get a pricy headphone pair and use something like sonarworks. I still have hd201 and have had them for about 5 years and they are quality headphones and still holding up
It's really good for instrument practicing, the cable was the big drawback it deteriorates so you need to do a messy soldier job, the leather cushion falls apart so i scraped it off, 4 years and still i used them. Gives really good details when it comes to mids and highs. I really must say it's value or money apart from the fact that the above 2 mention falls apart .
i don t know man, i have these headphones and they sound brittle and tinny, my hd 681 evo is sooooooo much smoother and better

Im not so sure about "budget" anymore, i have already spent about 400€ on in-ears this year. XD How about reviewing CAL or X00 Ebony next? Also Denon AH-D5200 would be interesting if Denon could possibly send you a pair or something. Ive been thinking about putting 400i on sale and getting one of the Fostex-variants as a "backup" for my D2000 if they decide to break up some day.

I just found your channel and it's beautiful thanks for the vids you're doing awesome. also Im a noob at audiophile stuff tho I'm very interested. I'd like to know what would be the best headphones for games and music and movies?. I generally listen to all types of music but the most I listen to is edm and hip hop. If you have any suggestions on what headphones to get it'll be appreciated. Side note I like bass but I'd also like really good sounding headphones also I was looking at the Sennheiser hd660s do you know if they are good?.

I still love you Stu. HD-202 II was my first (overish-ear) adult headphone before I got into the hobby. They sounded pretty good for the money, but I found them very uncomfortable. Even with softer pads and stretching the f*ck out of the headband (it's virtually indestructible) they crushed my ears.
I've heard people complain about low volume for this headphone, even i experienced it when i first tried them BUT it's not Sennheiser's issue it's actually the user's problem since many, like myself, didn't had it connected directly into the HD audio port (talking here about PCs ofc), but rather i had them connected to some Philips 2.0 speakers which had their own audio processor much weaker than the one onboard the mobo. Great headphones, i really like them since i connected them to HD audio.

Hi @FireFlamesrocks . The design of the HD 201 will provide some noise isolation from outside sound and stay on your head nicely. For even better noise isolation have a look at the HD 280 PRO model.

Hi poke19931 . at this time the only cushions for the HD 201 are the ones that come with them and cushions from other models won't fit the HD 201.
Hi Julio Rivera . in theory you could so long as you are connected to an audio source that is sending you the sound of the metronome. For an upgraded experience check out the HD 280 PRO.

Hi Jordan Heady . Try the headphones on a different audio source as it will give you an inducation of whether you need to investigate the settings on the audio source for a setting that is potentially limiting the headphones.
