i have a newer fan which has a light kit. I only have a black and a white wire coming out the motor. the wires from the ceiling are black, white, red, green and bare copper. the fan will be controlled by a remote control (controls fan motor and the light). what do I do with the red wire from the ceiling???
So I found out the definitive answer on the red wire from my cousin who is a 17 year licensed electrician. The red and black wires are both "Hot" wires. If you have a light kit you'll use the red wire. If you have a fan only, cap the red wire the the guy in this vid did and tuck it away. Now, if you want your light AND fan to come on at the same time, wire the black and red wires together to the black and blue wires on the ceiling fan. BUT, if you're like me and you have 2 switches and want to control the fan and lights independently from eachother, connect the black to the black and the red to the blue and you'll be able to use the fan with your wall switch or your lights with the wall switch and want have to be constantly pulling the chains on the fan. I know this will be a huge help to all who see it. No need to thank. You're all welcome and GL wiring everything up. 😊👍🏽
What about the red wire??? Why you didn’t say anything about it?
I literally watched this to understand the red wire! :(
Red wire is why I came here
Dude, what is the red wire? Why didn't he use it?
What about the red wire dum ass
Your video didn't show to red wire go connect with.
WHAT"S THE RED WIRE FOR?
Que pasa with the red wire?
What about the red wire that's left over?
You didn't explain the red wire and why not.
Hindi me banao yrrr............. Angrej
What about the red wire. When I did it on my fan, I eliminated the black wire with a wire nut and I used the red wire for power to the fan. I connected the red with the black and the blue wires that come from the fan. Red is your hot wire coming from the light switch.
Red wire ? what does that connect to ?
did not coment on the red wire ?

I enjoyed this so much! Absolutely inspiring. Thank you so much for making this film and sharing. Just brilliant.
As uch as people like to slam 'the rich', without people with the means to afford the extraordinary skills, time and wonderful materials there would be no high level craftsmen. The same goes for architecture and the performing arts.
Very informative and inspiring... certainly makes me want to get in the wood shop and create. Thank you.
Beautiful furniture with ridiculous prices
"But I wanted to let the dust settle before .." @1:16. I had a good chuckle. Sorry, no irony, it's just spontaneity at work. Thank you for all the great work you've done over the decades Jeremy. I haven't finished watching, but I'm already convinced that this documentary is going to be great. All the best from Paris.
Enjoyed the film!
Right length excellent film thank u:)
Stunning lamination, and cheap chicken. Thanks, great naration. Whilst I do not like Ikea, I have been inspired in design there. Which has helped me along in my own workshop.
Brilliant film. Just the right length. More please. I have bought a couple of your DVDs, excellent value for money.
Hi, Jeremy! I`m just a buyer and user of furniture that`s available to me. I loved this video from its educational point of view and I don`t think that it`s too long. While enjoying this I also thought about the majority of people I know (me included) who feel very lucky to be able to buy furniture even from IKEA. Most people are struggling with everyday life according to all the expenses. In difficult times it really is hard to embed art, quality, craftsmanship and culture into society`s way of thinking. Thank you. I loved watching this upload. Josi from Slovenia
Nice emigenation and work
A superb video I enjoyed it, thanks for making it. Very inspirational even for a hobby woodworker

I have the DVD but still enjoyed it.
I'm bias as a passionate for saw dust, but, I'll say I love your self produced music. I love the sharing of others design. I love the idea of sharing the volume of others designs in one "space and time" ! I love the inspiration offered by work that is above the level of quality I may be capable of. Thanks for sharing, Steph_Louisana USA Watched the whole thing !
What about James Krenov ...... rip ? I know he's not British but, neither is IKEA.
