Hey man! Thanks for sharing. I got my hands on one of these and when i attached it to my A7R3, it looked as if I attached a crop sensor lens. A totally black vignette (like actual black, useless for anything) and it only looked normal when switched it to super35 mode, or crop sensor mode. Which totally defeats the purpose of having the 14mm lens. Its supposed to be full frame, so what might be the issue? Thanks in advance!
thanks! This was very helpful, especially your recommendation about making sure where the infinity point is and that it's possible to calibrate the lens.
I didnt already tried it on astro, tried it on landscape and photos are good. This lens was in my bag about half year without using, i cant wait to use it for astro. Price was about 200E, its very good, if u want buy, check amazon or ebay.
Does this also work well for daytime landscape scenarios?
Does anyone know when this lens was released?
Hi James. Good review as always. I have a Z6 (bought in 2019) and if I get this lens I would oif course plan to use it with the FTZ adaptor. Could you please clarify the comment you made in another comment below" to someone asking if the lens n[can be used with a Z6. "Newer versions yes - this older version does not get on well with the FTZ adapter at all however". I have sen a used one for sale. How do I know if it is an "older version" or not?
is it worth it to go from my kit that can go to 18 3.5, with this going to 14 2.8?
Thanks for the advice! I want to buy this for my husband, will it be compatible for his Nikon D750? Thanks
Can you use this lens with Z 7ll?
Hi James, great review, how is this lens on stitching panoramas ?
Hey James, thanks for the vid. I have been considering getting this lens for a while to try out some astro photography but already have the DX Nikon 16-80mm f2.8-4 for my D7500. Would this lens be good enough or could I still justify purchasing the Samyang?
Hello! Will this lens work with the Nikon Z5 and FTZ adapter? I've also heard some problems occurring with the Z5 and third party lenses
Thank you for sharing your thought about this lens, as I am a newbie and really like to take some Astrophotography especially *_Milky Ways_* and looking for a lens that I can afford. I only got a Canon EOS 70D and some kit lenses along with Sigma 100-400mm Contemporary Lens. Please check put my channel and let me know if you like any of my contents and advise me how I can improve. As one of my friend says *_Our World is a Shared Experience_* and I believe, *_Life is Short, so Live Long and Prosper_* . Look after yourself and each other. Perhaps I might meet you at some point when I come over to Ashton if things get better over Halloween this year cause that will be one of the nest time to catch the Milky Ways until March next year. Cheers!
Your video has convinced me.
However, I also like the nikkor 20mm 2.8D(just coz the aperture ring on it).
Can you please help me decide?
PS: focusing on astro.
Thanks
Does it work for full frames?
i just bought this lense based on your review, cheers mate, Grant (Australia)
James do you think I could do interior work with that lens - does it have much distortion
I have canon 80D is this going to work with this lens?
Anyone know if this lens would be good for interior real estate photography?
Hello James thank you for your review on this lens. I just got it and can't wait for Friday evening to go out and try it hope its not cloudy! Cheers again, if OK with you I will post some results of my first shoot.
had this lens for a while for my eos m3. I liked doing long exposure shots of the stars with it and for candid portraits of family members. The huge convex front lens always got remarks haha
1:21 do you see an eye in the cloud?
I like how you put the crop sensor pictures!
anyone else get Wes Anderson vibes when he's doing the video demonstration and then zooms in? lol love it
More i see your reviews, it gets more and more awkward. I don´t know what is your lens knowledge background, but this lens is horrific. The distortion it shows is absolutly horrible, and very complex to fix in post, vigneting is huge too. I see you destroy Tokina lenses for some CA and don´t see that they are masters in control distortion and vigneting. And you say the performance on this is almost perfect when is very noticeable the distortion and optics flaws? i don´t get it.
please drop link for download the photos, so i can zoom the see detail and who much it sharp
i think this review missed a point - the cine lens are not for photos it should be decent video review with samples about the lens. is out there any people who able review lens properly?
I have this lens. and I really dont understand why, but it feels like every time I use it the infinity focus is littlebit different, I have made 2 marks on it from when it was at that point but next time it might be little bit different. and still it seems to be way off from factory markings, its around 0.6 to 1.2 meters.
I got this lens and love itLoved seeing a Korean hymn book at 6:46
how it works on video?
Fantastic Review as always! I recently purchased the Samyang 14mm RF mount with auto focus and it has pretty much lived on my EOS R for the last 3 weeks on all my architectural shoots. I ended up reviewing it in real world scenario on my channel. Keep up the great work Chris!
Can I use this lens for my Canon 80d?
So I just found this video since I’m currently looking for a wide angle lens for vlogging. Would you recommend this lens or should I stick to getting a 10-18mm from canon? Thank you
wait, you incresed from f2.8 to f4. Why does it get brighter? When i do that, it will get darker
My copy is awful, first and last quarter of the frame is unusable and there's so much coma and chromatic aberration. The focus scale is not accurate and paired with the long focus throw makes it really hard to focus (the softness doesn't help either) even zoomed at 14x cant make out where a line is in focus. It was one expensive mistake to buy this lens, the few occasions where it could shine it let me down badly. Yet it my just be my copy thats decentered. Be aware before buying that the quality control on those is hit or miss and the focus scale is almost never on point
Guys I bought the normal version of the lens a few days ago and it's really bad, especially in the corners. Can somebody tell me if this is normal The shots are taken on a Sony A7ii on a tripod, iso 100. distortion looks weird.
Great video! That bulge is serious though! That distortion.
Thank you ! But how to correct the Distorsion?
You should be famous like Peter makkinon and matti
Your time is coming bro
One of the best lenses you can start out with Astrophotography.
Hey man you are awesome your video style is veering soothing
Not bad with an APSC format either. I shoot with both full frame A7iii and crop sensor A6600 - the Samyang gives me a very useful 21mm equivalent on the crop camera and the corner sharpness actualy improves.
Supper video
Can you use manual lense for walking vlogging with xt4 fuji it has ibs
I took this lens on Canon m 50, and I couldn't find the adapter, can u please help me abou this subcejt
Never tried astro-photography really should, take a picture of a dark night sky with an 400 iso and a 5 to 10 min exposure with a polar aligned equatorial mount and BOOM, the beautiful milky way in all its glory, yet completely invisible to the naked eyeincredible!

Was confused about what to buy for landscape. You tempted me to buy this. If I am not wrong you are carrying Protactic bag, nice bag.
Thanks Buddy good one.
If you want to use this lens for videography, there's a cine version of it with smooth aperture, for no clicking and smooth lighting. Optically it's the same lens.
How do you get the Samyang lens profile there? I don't have any Samyang options. Thanks
It is AWESOME for astrophotography. I've been using it mostly for that. Super sharp, but it has some distorsion and vigneting, which I'm ok with. Try it, you'll love it. Oh, and very nice review.
I loved your review and wanted to say thank you! I just bought the lens instead of getting a zoom. I don't really need a zoom. But id didn't want to sacrifice the depth by getting an F4 lens. So thanks again. You are a top geezer. A TOP geezer
I have a question about this lens. When the f stop is all the way down to 2.8, you can only film it with a specific subject in front, right? I recently purchased this lens and tried to do some budget real estate video with it and when I’m filming indoor, I have f stop 2.8, everything is extremely out of focus. That’s what confusing me about this lens.
Cool video! I'm torn between getting the 14mm or the 18mm 2.8, never had any lens wider that 24mm so I don't know how is it going to look like, any thoughts on this? Thanks!
Which lens are you filming with this video ? The vlog I’m watching I mean
Having to manually focus doesn’t bother me but you need to have good vision or wear your glasses/contacts. I use this for weather, architecture, landscapes, family portraits, and sometimes even birth photography. I need more equipment for astrophotography but that is on my list.
Thx a lot for making good review with Samyang lens.
Ty, ty for the info
Shoot this lens on my Sony A7. it's a beast for real estate interiors *and* astrophotography if you're into that.
Great lens, I would recommend installing a chip to warn when it is focused, it is very difficult to focus with the lens
man cool review does it works with Nikon D3000 series
The video quality this thing produces is sick! I was looking to get this lens purely for budget astrophotography, but it’s basically a jack of all trades
What’s your opinion on the lens with vs. without the AE chip?

Nice
Please someone help me. Is this a Full frame lens
Will this fit on a canon rebel
This lens is not made for fast manual focusing. It is more for still shots and astro-photography shooting where you don't use your focus. Let me rephrase that, you set your focus and shoot your picture then refocus if you have to.
I'm noticing sort of a fish eye effect going on in the video. I know I'm not just seeing things, am i?
In another video by different Youtuber, it was recommended not to be used for video,b/c of manual focus. Do you agree or still think that it is good for video ?Thank you.
This was the best most helpful video! Thank you
Great review but I don’t think it would serve my purpose
Does that lens work with DSLR’s?
oye, como le hiciste para grabar eso eh¡?!
Good review! I appreciate the comparison shots. Hrlps the view in perspective.
wow you get snow there
Nobody is talking about filters. Can we use ND filters on this ? I don't think so, the circular ones what about the square Cokin p series ones. How difficult or straightforward is it if you somehow can use filters?
