Hello hello, I've had this lens and i totally love the angle, but my version wasnt good at all. Maybe due to quality control which seem to be a problem with this model. Also it was very expensive for a manual lense. So i've sold it. Now i saw that there is a Mark II version of it and i'm looking for reviews. If anyone have seen one, or can share his experience with me, it would be great!
This lens has electronic contacts, its very good, but his distance scale ending at 1 meter (!!!), its VERY BAD for manual lens, impossible to set visual 3 meters, which one is very necessary for zone focusing or even for hyperfocal... Its very sad, because of optically this lens is very very good.

Its a good lens but it woud be hard for videos because of manual focus.
I have the samyang 12mm fisheye its a great lens i think they are slept on because of their affordable price point that ppl think they arent quality lenses
Can I use filters on this lens?
I just got this one and I love it! I used it on 4K video capture and astrophotography and it performed really well, beyond my expectations. On my A7R II I expected the full frame video to not be as good as Super 35 mode but surprisingly they were both equally good. The full frame capture had better color IMO. For astrophotography I was pleased with the pinoint stars I was getting when stopped down to f/2.8.
Why is lenses more sharp on middle, on full frame cameras? With same lense.

Superb straight to the point review. Highly appreciated. :) Fantastic smooth bokeh for a 24mm. If it has less dirt in the bubbles than the 35 mm, it's a no brainer.
Sony A7iii users note you have to set ASP-C to manual in the menu ,with these lenses to get rid of the shadow on the side of the frame/sensor/EVF.. Otherwise a awesome lens at the price point...

I own this lens and use it some times for my work. Its an absolutely fantastic lens. I am planning to move towards the RF mount system so any comparison with the new Canon RF 35 mm 1.8 lens would really be great.

Very nice review. Helpful indeed. Seems to be an excellent performer in almost all regards. Only weakness seems to be that the bokeh balls sometimes have the iris reflected in them. I've noticed that in several Samyang's. Thanks!

Great lens. Thanks for the top notch review, however, using this on my Pentax I have auto exposure in AP mode and focus confirmation and peaking in live view. Works really well. Thanks again Chris.

I’m new to event and portrait photography, can anyone help or advise me here. I use a Sony A7 camera, I’m looking at this lens as my 85mm choice, I’ve no experience yet with MF lenses, I look to learn but with shooting a lot of events, I need/prefer lenses with AF. What would you recommend I look to purchasing? Will this lens be easy for me to use MF whilst shooting (I fear I’m making using a MF lens in my head harder than it actually is) ?
It would be interesting to compare this side by side with the 1.8 version.
Am I misremembering or did the old version of this lens (the one without the red ring) have a chip and contacts to let it communicate its name and aperture to the camera? Or was that only on the Nikon version? I owned it years ago and I am sure it had a chip.

Hi cris,i m just building my portfolio to showcase my full body potraite work.i have ad600,d7100 and 50 mm 1.4 ex sigma. and now planing to buy 85mm 1.4 art sigma before shifting to full frame.but this video of samyang 85 1.4 make mind changed.should i buy this first and save money and practice with this.also i will do photoshoot for free for sake of my work because i m not able to pay for model.
