Guys, I recently got this one and let me tell you this is a great TV, especially the picture quality. This guy has been cheated or something and he has no idea what he's talking about. Downloaded the smart features and using this one quite comfortably. LG model sucks as it'sIPS panel itself is dark and not good in terms of picture quality
I've been using this TV for a little over a year now and I agree with most of the things that you have highlighted over here. The youtube app seems to the only useful app in its app window and even that sucks . I bought this TV mainly because the product page for this TV on the Samsung official website portrayed this TV as a smart TV with a special emphasis on the list of apps offered for the software version running on this TV. On of the apps on that list was skype. But unfortunately to my surprise, this TV does not support skype. Moreover, I've had numerous boring screen sharing sessions with the customer support team because the youtube app kept crashing over and over again. Also, this TV comes with an outdated version of Miracast hardware and software. The screen sharing, either from your compatible laptop or your smartphone is a total pain in the arse. Having said that, everything else about this TV is fabulous. At this price range, this TV offers the best picture quality with respect to its size. I use a Yamaha home theater system and the movie viewing experience on this TV is simply mind blowing. The issue that you brought up regarding the detection of your pen drive on your TV did not happen in my case. I guess you are connecting the thumb drive to the low power USB port. Although I can relate to your experience with external storage devices as the same thing happened to me on connecting my external HDD. Actually, I never use an external storage device to view any content on my TV anymore. Instead, I prefer to stream the media directly from my laptop on to the TV using the screencasting feature (also known as Miracast). So, if you are looking to buy a "big smart TV", and you are not that concerned about the smart features it has to offer except for the necessary ones, then I would suggest this TV. It's your hard earned money. Go to a big retailer where all these TVs are on display and experience them first hand. Happy Shopping!

Oh ok.. Maybe bad luck then. Sorry buddy.. But yes, I saw your 2nd review for the LG TV. I had considered that as well as their 42 incher 3D TV as well. Though the Magic remote is hands down the best one that I've seen and kills the remotes of both Samsung and Sony by leaps and bounds, I found the color reproduction on the IPS panel of LG was substantially lower than the Samsung one. Also, given the refresh rates of both being nearly same (100Hz and 120Hz for SS and LG, I guess), the marquees on any News channel run better and smoother on the Samsung IMHO.. But agree with you on the Magic remote and the Smart feature of LG is substantially better than SS and Sony both.
Did you pick this TV from the Samsung store or one of the online portals...? Cuz mine works absolutely flash-speed! I did a little bit of research before picking this one, and found the Picture quality substantially better than the Sony and LG entry+1 models. I hope you're aware that there are a lot of 2nd grade dealers who sell through the online portals - the TVs that are brought into India as knocked down units and then assembled, where they sometimes introduce cheaper parts. I've met one of them in Delhi who was willing to sell a 80 grand TV for 54k, and he showed me how he was selling the same one online @ 59k, and people were happy purchasing!!
