Fun fact, 3 years later review. Be careful with your usb c cables, the only good ones seem to be the ones this drive came with. So dont get it mixed up with ur phone n stuff.

As long as your portable hard drive is SSD you're in the clear. It's worth the extra money knowing all your backups aren't going to fail in a year when you will likely need it.

just bought a T5, for what I could read was fast enough for my pc and my needs, could not find the new T7 models on Amazon they only sell used ones right now, so yeah get your SSD while you can, new crypto currencies that use storage instead of gpus processing power are starting to pop up, so prices are going to skyrocket and availability is going to go down for a while if this currencies start to get some popularity.

I purchased a Samsung Portable SSD T5 (1TB) for my personal iMac desktop (also 1TB with 880GB available) and I am not sure how best to use it. I was thinking to use it to back up my iMac with Time Machine. Now I am wondering, Is there another way (beside devoting part of it to Time Machine) to use this portable drive? If yes, Would I need to partition it and what percentage do I devote to Time Machine? Does anyone have any advice on how best to use this portable drive? Thank you.
