Is MacBook pro A1278Core 2 duo of 2012 worth in 2021
A $56 16GB RAM upgrade, and a $49 Kingston SSD upgrade does magic!!!I got a mid 2012 with an i5, for $150.I did the desperately needed upgrades. Runs like a new MacBook!It originally had a pathetic 4GB of RAM, and a shotty 10 year old HDD.

If people are trying to see if the MacBook can run fn it can ONLY in GeForce now I havent tried yet in epic games but if you I are going to play fn with I recommend using GeForce now you could get 100+ fps without upgrades

Hello! Do you know if to plug the hd with leopard 10.5.8 from macbook pro 17 inch 2009 straight into the model of 2010, 2011, 2012 would work right away. The reason I am looking to do that is because I used my macbook pro for music projects and I would like to gain right away access to them with the same settings and installations of different plugins in logic pro 9.
I looked at the specs of my MacBook pro, inside Apple documentation, says it only supports up to 8gb ram, does it refers at it as 8gb per slot? I would really appreciate some advice for this, it's annoying just using 4 GB of ram, everything gets stuck!
Good job. The batteries also always need to be replaced irrespective of the cycle count. They are almost 10 years old. I got a new battery from Walmart Online Store for $38 with free shipping. My 2012 Macbook Pro is amazing and cost me a total of $350. 8gb Ram, 1TB SSD and brand new battery. Fantastic!
If the machine works slow on mac os, try installing windows into it, and it will work just beautifully

I bought mine second hand around 4 years ago. I've stopped using it now after it started to turn off unexpectedly. But it was great for editing videos on Premiere Pro. I don't edit in 4K or use a lot of layers so I didn't really have much to complain about.I thought of maybe upgrading the SSD and ram but I figured I'm probably better off just saving my money in case I want to buy a new macbook with the m1 chip

This was the last laptop that I actually liked, you can basically swap out the hard drive for an SSD and can also upgrade the RAM.

just sold mine and regretting it majorly! sold my mid-2012 with 8GB RAM and 1 TB SSD for only $300, cause thought I was getting a better Mid-2014 15" with 16GB RAM and 1 TB SSD but its runs hotter and louder than a jet plane! I sold my 2012 cheap cause it had this screen glitch/crash issue when it had full 16GB ram in it so I took out 8 GB and it worked fine- come to find out the person I told it too upgraded it no problem so not sure what he did,...

I love my 2012 15" Macbook Pro. SSD drive, 12 Gb RAM. She does well. However, over the last year, I started having problems with charging. Eventually, 6 weeks ago, stopped charging altogether. The magsafe charger end would keep the green light and get super hot - now it shows signs of burnt pins. I replaced the charger, no luck. Yesterday, I replaced the charging port on the Macbook, but no luck. I don't know what might be wrong. I'm really NOT ready to replace the machine, especially with newer Macbook Pros not being really upgradeable/serviceable by myself.
I have this macbook but dont use it because its SUPER slow. What can I do to make it more useable? Also, have people made modifications themselves?

Huge difference man.. I was planning to upgrade my ram and instead I changes to SSD. Mine is a 2012 model macbook pro. Now I don't need to change ram at all. It's working smooth as butter.I used time machine as backup.. once I finished inserting SSD, I went to disk utility, erased installed SSD and restored time machine.

High Sierra OSx. Really impressive how much faster this little Mac runs. THANKS for the inspiration. Fun project.

Ive only ever used windows. Do you need to do a clone of the HD to the new SSD before installing the SSD?Or do you just replace the drive & the Mac reinstalls the operating system etc.

Yesterday upgraded with iOS Catalina 10.15.6 still working fine, but it wasn't always used not like my 2009 Vaio that is still working up to now. Anyway, thanks to you I'm planning to upgrade it too to 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM, hope it works fine. Does the SSD need to be preloaded with IOS or straight replace only?
