Hello Curtis, I’m trying to track down the first mention of the C02 as a dialogue mic, and as it seems, this video is the oldest mention I could find. I was wondering where did first hear about it or if you went in blind to test it, thanks!
Hey. Just wanted to say thanks for making this. I needed a lower priced option and so got the CO2's. Sounds really good.
I bought a pair of these on the strength of this review but found the floor noise they produce way too loud. When compared to a c214 they are like hissing snakes. NT5s a little more expensive but they are at least useable.
anyone no how to overcome the self noise of this microphone
Hey Curtis! Just got a DPA 4017b, so I'm on a budget now haha. But looking for a budget indoor dialogue mic and leaving towards the Oktava, but seeing a few sub $100 options like the iSQ Little Gem, Behringer B-5 and Lyxpro SDP-2. Curious if it's worth the additional cost to get the Oktava for self-noise and audio quality rather than trying to get a budget mic that might just be a waste of money.
Can I connect this mic to a USB interface and use this mic for video calls and streaming?

Thanks, Curtis. I always enjoy your videos. I am looking for an affordable mic to use to upgrade my Zoom app, it seems it's the way to do business these days. Would this be a good application for these Samson C02's? And if I use them for this purpose, do I use both mics or can I get away with using one? It doesn't matter to me knowing they are only sold in pairs. I am using a CAD CM217 right now and was wondering if this would be an upgrade.

what mic stands are you using in this video?
I bought the pair of Samson CO2 four years ago after seeing this review. I still use them. One is on my desk for (casual!) voice over and video conferencing, in a good shock mount with a small pop filter, and the other is on an articulating mic arm over a workbench, ready to use with a MixPre3 for video of mechanical details with accompanying audio. Both still work just fine for me.
Quick Question Curtis, Why is it that all the "Dialogue Microphone test" i here on youtube and such sound absolutely nothing like the dialogue i here when watching a Studio level movie. Even when using the same mics. Is this a post processing thing? Thanks for your time.
Quick question: Would you suggest a Super-Cardioid mic, such as this, for youtube recording/streaming? What I do is not complicated and I'm using a Blue yeti on an arm about 40cm slightly up in front of me, just out of shot. I do need to add a shock mount....

Hey Curtis! Just got a pair of these based off of this video. I am having a really hard time positioning the mic off camera and getting the same sound as you. The amount of gain I need to apply to pick up my voice at the distance of about 12 inches is insane (48) and is introducing a lot of noise. I tried to mimic your setup as much as possible in regards to mic positioning. Using the amps in a go xlr and recording straight to my PC.
How is the isolation and reverb pickup?
Looks similar to the Neumann KM184. Being Neumann brands I can imagine the price is an arm and a leg?
*I initially **do7.pl/SMicrophone** bought the Fifine K670 for all the positive reviews, but after using it in Final Cut Pro X I found the volume to low to be useable. Even turning the Fifine mic and FCPX gain to max I would still have to do a bit more gain in the post voiceover audio. I went back to researching and came across the Samson, which also had great reviews. So I returned the Fifine and ordered this mic. The first time I hooked up the Samson and used it in FCPX I was blown away. Even with the mic gain only 25% there was plenty of volume in the FCPX voiceover with no additional gain needed in post. The Samson mic is three times more expensive, but for the features and the fact it works great, this microphone is totally worth it. And considering the professional quality of this Samson G-Track Pro, it's great heavy duty build and design, this thing is a great investment.For those wondering what the actual weight of the microphone alone is, it is 1lb 11oz or 1.7lbs. The reason bring it up is because I wanted to mount this on a Blue Compass Premium Tube-Style boom arm on my desk and the limit for a mic and pop filter is 2.4lbs so I was worried. I could not find any details on just the weight of the microphone alone. I took a chance and it worked out. I have the microphone mounted in the Blue Compass arm and it works perfect with zero weight issues. This is an awesome setup and something that is going to last for a long time.*

great for guitar. are they good for singing?? i think this is the best guitar recording regardless of mics and cost, you should have sung a bit also.

Hey Snorre, I just got these mics after watching your review and I have a question: Well, I'm trying to record my (cheap) acoustic guitar, and I'm trying some mic placements (some of which you recommended), but it still sound kinda boomy and muddy. I don't know what levels on my DAW I should be aiming, or what gain I should set in my Scarlett 2i2. Any clues?
