The moment anyone uses the word "authentic" in describing a technical tool, I tune 'em out, yet you hate the term "flat response," which actually has a generally accepted meaning in evaluating audio reproduction. Beats... for folks who listen to mediocre music, and think that then grossly altering the frequency response to even further emphasize thudding bass is a substitute for reproducing music faithfully.

I think there are some AWESOMEin-ear headphones out there - low distortion (as they must be coz you hear them right in your brain :) and thay have the strongest bass of all..However they all hurt after while..Next thing -no matter how clean you keep them you get sore ears-or worse-infection..They not for everybody....
