WISH TO SEE N OWN THESE IN DOUBLE NECKS
Just picked one up on Reverb. One of those rarities that's actually a US made Strat.
the perfect studio guitar
can u do a rewiew of Cort MX 15r amplifier
You should do a compare/contrast shootout with the Line 6 JTV Variax and see how each does.
I got one of these on eBay right now. Only 1 bid
If I use this guitar with Boss GT-100, I still can use the same acoustic sounds or they will not work properly? Thanks.
if they had also MIDI out it would have been perfect.
Nice playing Matt!
Any doubters of this guitar, watch Pete Thorn, and Steve Stevens video They both love it!
Which amp do you use?
the camera is nauseatingly jerky.

cool stuff
Desafinate
Started out saying it was not quiet as good because it was Mexican.
Ended up proving that Mexican can be awesome
I just have to say you are an idiot! You are so dismissive of the guitar. So versatile the guitar why on earth do you think you are going to get a straight Strat!
The arguments about the modeled sounds not being real etc makes no sense in this context because really you would need to play the guitar through a PA system to hear say the acoustics properly. Guitarists need to come into the 21st Century as keyboard players have to do. Not many keyboard players carry a Rhodes, Hammond B3 and an acoustic gran piano around with them, NO, they just have one keyboard non weighted and another weighted. Keyboard players had to change and leave snobbery behind. Guitarists have to do the same. Great review and guitarist.

Not bad. May have to get me one. Sorta sounds like they went after the line 6 variax. I have two variax and love them. Time to try a fender
Its a good guitar
bella y hermosa guitarra pero en mi país tener una guitarra así hay que ser multi billonario o solo tenerla en un puto sueño
This doesn't come close to the Variax, especially the COSM technology. IMO, when it comes to modeling, Line6 is second to none.
This review: It's a great guitar that really kinda sucks.
In reality these are great guitars. If your a Fender buff who knows the history of each model and year etc, you'll probably notice the difference between a mex and an original. For the average player this guitar is great. Like all modeling devices it replicates the sound and no not as good as the original. As an example, an original telecaster sounds more authentic than a modeled one. I like the sound of my Line 6 amp on the metal or insane settings which sound good to me. Does it sound as good as an original Mesa Boogie Dual Rec?.of course not, but it's diversification for the price beats buying multiple amps from Fender, Vox, Marshall, Mesa, etc. This guitar is the same.
To add to my last comment; I've now borrowed one [of the earlier models, some features are different]. No-one has mentioned how heavy it is, or the fact that the mini pickup is set so high [against the bridge] as to force the action higher than preferable. It's still an intriguing and interesting to play guitar, but responds in unexpected ways.
I don't know, to me the phrase "Virtual Stratocaster" brings the image of one of those keyboards shaped like a guitar. like you used to see them a lot in the 1980s. I believe it's known as a 's what the phrase "Virtual Stratocaster" brings to MY mind
One of the most honest and clear reviews I've seen. Not intended for the hard sell; reminds me of how I'd be if I were to try one. Well done.
Did they take it apart or something? Is it or is it not a crack around the bottom screw in the pick guard?
Mexican strats are great,
The VG strats are assumabled in mex
the parts are sent there from here.
if your a bedroom van halen, these
you can feel comfortable about tweaking, the TeX mex pups, worked
for Stevie ray, jimmy, in some guitars
the Brit talks a little down on them
he's 100% wrong. The difference is
assumably, may be wire, Iv been playing a 2006 I played it as it was
at least 2yrs, I put emg sa sa sa,
it screams,
I bought one of these returned the next day I think the sounds are to colored and too harsh it’s a cool design but there’s a reason why they only made them for two years
Excellent video skunk Baxter :)
Personally in my opinion and I’m truly not trying to sound like a dick but the VG’s have way better tone than the brittle steril sounding Variax. I own two of the first generation Fender VG Strats. minus the G-5 title. one is Black with white pick-guard rosewood fretboard, my other VG Strat is a color Fender calls Blizzard Pearl. It is beautiful . a very rare color on a Fender guitar. really looks custom shop wearing that Blizzard Pearl paint. its kind of a silver color with a pinkish hue sometimes and goldfish hue others, even Red hues are in it. that is the Pearl doing that. like a bunch of little tiny prisms also these Fender Roland VG Strats have ZERO Latency, I do mean Zero . I also do believe Fender has already ceased production on All models of The VG
He can strain soup, or have tonights supper! next week.
BBQ ribs =walking dead
Thank you so much "Skunk" Baxter Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you !I respect you very much.
What a versatile instrument: nearly perfect for a working club/ weekend musician, imho. My first question following watching a bunch of video demos of a Roland Ready Fender Strat is: how much extra does the synth part of the system cost?
Also: how does a 1996 version of this ax compare to the 2012 one Skunk is playing?
Well said. The problem is just plain volume. Tube amps have been successful with a combination of pushing output tubes & speakers to extremes. Moving a sufficient quantity of air & the complex harmonics arrived at with a high volume level allow for our "expression" The loud playing venue has evaporated so younger guitar players don't experience the guitar, cord and amp feel while using pots to shape tones. I have all the Marshalls but mostly use solid state amps for this very reason. Oh well.
8hrs on batteries, use rechargeables.
For all the whiners, 'purists' posers, and wannabes (i.e. LessThanProfessional, etc). Having a G-5A alongside your quiver is almost essential If anything, inspirational to tailor your personal sound. It's a creative tool and if you've got 12strg electrics and sitars lying around (which I highly doubt), more power to you
so this runs on the input jack electricity correct? i have the fender vg which is very very similar to this guitar but the effects runs on batteries. love the guitar to death but hate the battery situation.
though what about people who say one's sound is all in the fingers?
well not really! I think you missed LessThanProfessional's Point altogether.
Very kool. And Skunk is da man. Next time plz ask him how he got that tone on 'Echos of Love'
My variax already does this.
I bought one of these a month ago, and I LOVE it! I've been playing since 1978, and I'll probably sell my Telecaster now. This one guitar does everything that I want from a guitar. "Purists" might not like it, but I love being able to show up at a gig with my band with one guitar that will handle the really wide variety of musical styles that we do. The open tuning is icing on the cake, allowing slide guitar at the turn of a knob.
All the hate is from close minded dimwits who refuse change.
With every purchase comes a free tactical nuke signed by Baxter.
I've been a Luthier since 1980. A lot of my customers who are working pros, work in many different situations. They can do multiple gigs with just one guitar. A modeling pre amp & a Bose full range speaker system allows them to play anywhere. It can also just go player can go from ZZ Top to Dave Mathews to Earth Wind & fire with a small easy to carry rig. I think these guitars have a real use & have a real value. If anything goes wrong, flip a switch & it's a great sounding Strat.
Seriously, what is the hate with digital? Analog is just a bunch of circuits, and so is digital. I use a Digitech pedal in combination with a tube amplifier, and the whole setup sounds amazing. Plus it gives me way more flexibility without having to lug 50 pedals and 20 amps around.
I haven't heard of this "terrible reputation", but Gibson guitars have terrible reputations for quality, consistency and support and they seem to be doing just fine. Many products can have a bad rep when info is gleaned from dissatisfied people who are much more likely to speak out anyway. I've been gigging and recording with PODs for over a decade and using Variax guitars for 3 years without any failures. Steve Howe, Adrian Belew and Bob Mould agree. And it's what I use 90% of the time.
great guitarist onn a great guitar as versatile as each other lol
I grew up in 60's,70's with amazing rock music, Paige, Hendricks, but Steve is right up there, him starting young and with acoustic for many years at first, I think that delay before electric made him able to really get a great sound and transfer that to electric, he's got great ear and inventiveness of sounds that fit rock beautifully.
Steve Stevens is my guitar hero!
I am mesmerized watching Steve play. It’s fascinating to watch a master artist paint these sounds with just his fingers.
Came across Billy Idol here on youtube, some songs I really like, good voice. Thought his guitarist was fantastic. That's why I'm here
He can make a Hello Kitty guitar sound good!
