FISHEYE FUJI!! Rokinon 8mm 2.8 Fisheye II, real-world review
Samyang 8mm F2.8 UMC Fisheye II - Fuji X Series!
Chris try the 7artisans 7.5mm fisheye only 130 US dollars and it has a minimum focus of .10cm very fun to use
Christopher will this work with micro 4/3
could you tell me if this lens works on the Canon EOS 77D ?
Is this the same lens as the Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II ?
Can i use this Lens on my Sony Alpha 7 Mark 3? Thank you!
Hi Christopher. Nice video. Watched your meike 6.5mm review. Which one do you think gives sharper, mode detailed result ? I have the meike but it is not as sharp as i thought on my a6000. Do you thin this lens would give more detail?
Love the review. Would you mind doing a 7Artisans 7.5mm lens review? I'm wondering how it compares considering its price?
Does somebody knows if I use this lens on Sony a7iii will my image have that black vignette from the lens or this is how it looks like?
How do the pictures look like after Lightroom lens correction?
Your review was very helpful. Thank you
Hi what can you say about 7artisans 7.5mm? Thanks!
Can this lens be used on a full frame a7m3, thanks
Hi Chris, Do you think that if i mount this lens on a Sony A7III it always keeps the angle of 180 degrees? thanks
nice to see a reviewer from north wales :)
Love all ur reviews.. have you tested the 7.5 artisan?
I had the 7.5mm Fisheye MTF and one thing that was good you could set it to f/5.6 and near infinity and everything was in foucy from 3' away. Would this be the same?
Hi Chris, this lens can used for milky way shooting ? How about the performance ? Thanks.
so this one is better than the samyang aps-c 8mm f3.5 version? which one should i get? i got an canon M50 and can use an adaptor. i don't care about the size. just the picture quality.
this lens available for MFT ?
since i cant afford a full frame fisheye, i would like to get this lens and use it in crop mode pn my a7...would you reccomend doing that?
Can this fit on 80d?
Have you noticed any difference in minimum focusing distance between V1 and V2?
Have you tried this lens with the saltedline a6xxx UW case?
Thank you!!! So useful information 👌
Just purchased the Samyang 8mm II and the a6xxx salted with 4" dome port. I didn't purchase the focus ring and I don't think I have enough before a trip to Belize. What focus & f setting would you recommend for underwater shots? I purchased the salted series body and the 8mm based on your videos and am thrilled. Excellent construction, button placement and comfort.
If i use either if these two lenses on sony alpha A6400 for stills, is there any way to avoid the fish eye effect in the photos ??
"A users review" That's what I needed :) Very very educational :) Big-Thanks :) Ticked & Subscribed :)
Hi Ben - which Salty dome port do you use with this lens? Thanks!
will this works on Sea frogs A6xxx salted line waterhouse? thanks!
It works with the meikon dome version?
Great info man! Subscribed!
on this lens for the Sony a6000 is there a lot of vignette and do you have to crop in editing? Please help in need of a fisheye lens for my A6000 for my BMX photography
Hello Ben, I want to buy a lens for my new sony camera (a6300). Is it worth paying the price difference to buy the V2? or i must buy the V1?
Do you use the c6000 & the 4916 (16cm dome port) for this? Which other lenses have you tried will work with this setup as well?
Hello. In 2:40 you say that Samyang 8mm f2.8 will not work with Meikon housing. Could you tell why, please? What can you recommend for this housing from budget fisheye lenses? Thank you :)
Absolutely love this lens (2nd version). Solid review brother.
Respect from Bali 👍
great videos man I've been following your website for a while now and you continue to put up great content, Cheers.
Let's be real...dudes lame...
this lens will work on canon t2i right? ik this vid old but lmk plz lol
That shot of the Beetle framed by the trees is next level.
You're nigh time photos looked way better, compositions surprised me way more.
Ultra wide angle (10-24mm/8-16mm) or fisheye lens?
Love your channel, always waiting for the next video from Australia
Hey, I find that wearing headsets works pretty well to discourage people from stoping you in this kind of areas ;) Who knows if they are off?!? (Thx for the review btw!)
Yes, Andrew, you’ve done this lens (and Austin) justice! I also have this lens (though I live a bit north of Austin), and agree with your conclusions. Though it’s certainly not up there with the stellar Fujinon XF optics in terms of build quality and image sharpness, it’s definitely not bad, and with some good post processing (like Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 for black and white work), one can achieve quite good results. Thanks again!
google image "Jacobs well". you might have liked that. and google "lighted church tour"... hmm, what else...
6th?! you should have gone to Rainey St!
I call them SQUIRREL TREES cause id want to live in one if I were a squirrel... .>
OMG HOW DID I MISS THIS?! *lives in Austin... dies*
Seeing this makes me want the MFT version even more. It's definitely interesting to see it being used in a general use kind of scenario, and playing with it's unique characteristics. ^_^
Please compare 7artisans vs meike lens for fuji x series.
Andrew, next time you are in Texas, let us know! I'd be more than happy to shoot with you (with a camera 😂). You got a bunch of nice, unique images with this lens. And, great match cut at the beginning. 👍
I've a 10-17 Pentax, and i think is more efficent.. because you can zoom... See my photo: https://goo.gl/Fdg1Wn
https://youtu.be/oR0p6PQyMs4?t=215 SQUIREELLLL!
You can take any lens, you always take beautiful pictures 👍
Hey! Are you still in Austin? I’m here in town and it might be cool to meet up tomorrow. 😁😁😁
I have the Bower 8mm 2.8 which is, I believe, just a rebrand of the Rokinon. I’ve had it for a about a year I think and got it very cheap used. Very happy with the IQ for what it is. Like you kind of said, I expected a lot less that what it gave me initially so I was pleased with what I got. F8 is the sweet spot like you heard and you don’t have any bad consequences of it being a manual focus lens being super wide at that aperture. That said I have had good luck with it wide open when needed like trick or treating with my daughter when using he focus mode on the x-t2 that lets you see a 1x magnification of the focus point, although the focus ring can be finicky as small as it is with being that stiff.

I see that at wed the same lens looks different, ie no silver collar? Is there yet another version?
would you happen to have a link to that photoshop plug in mate?
I have both :-) Great lenses especially for nightscaping! But I love to shoot in the forest with the 8mm: https://www.instagram.com/p/CEoF4K4HJOL/ You should try that! Great review btw :-)
Focus auto or manual ?
Waiting for your Laowa 4mm fish eye review!
I have the 12mm but I'm so tempted to get something extreme like this for that "real" fisheye fun effect. That Meike circular lens is also tempting but that is way more distorted over this.
Got lens onto my fuji x2o but I can’t press shutter button?
Great review... Ended up buying the 8mm.... Now just need to get out and shoot it... 📸🙏
Did you get a chance to shoot some astro photos with this copy? I wonder how it performs... I have a Samyang 14 for Canon FF attached via an adaptor to my XT2, but it Is not wide enough for stars...
can you focus this like the 7.5mm Samyang MTF is set it for f/5.6 and infinity and everything beyong 3' is in focus?
Great little lens, not the sort of thing use often but for some reason is always in my bag lol
Nice review, Damian! As a Fuji X-Photographer as well, I have the Rokinon version of this lens, and apparently, it has the same build qualities, ie., solid, but with a stiff manual focus ring. Image quality from it on my X-Pro2 is quite good in terms of sharpness and dynamic range, however, it's not quite in the same league as my superb Fujinon XF lenses. If Fuji had the 8-16mm zoom when I bought the Rokinon, I believe I would have opted for the Fujinon. That said, it is a good bargain, and a decent performer for what it does.
Great video Damian as ever. Love the Samyang 12mm. As for fish-eye really enjoying the exaggerated Meike 6.5mm. Although why not add the kitchen sink as well and get the Sam 8mm :P
I have the Rokinon 8mm 2.8, which is of course, the same thing as the Samyang. Talk about a fun lens! It's not an everyday lens, but in the right situation and with the proper subject, you can create some amazingly artistic images.
A great little lens for the price. Takes up no space in your bag, so easy to take with you all the time!
I had that lens over a year, great wide angle!
Nicely done mate, and I'm happy to see you mention that word I mentioned on Twitter . . . . . . 'fun'. For the price it's a nice little (literally, easy to find space for) fun addition to anyone's camera bag. It's easier to use than it is to find the right subject to use it on but when you do the results are decent enough
Awesome - about time you set up a photo walk 📷📷📷
Everybody should have a fisheye lens, at least once in a lifetime. Yes it's fun. 10yrs ago I had 8mm f3,5 from Olympus (FT). But soon enough I realized you can get addictive to that effect- almost every second wide image I shoot in that period was shoot with that fisheye lens. Talking about overkill 🤣 Fisheye lenses are fun, but be careful...
