Some great packs on this review. When selecting a pack for a new user, it is very important to be properly sized and make a selection which will suit your needs. Some of the ultralight packs listed here have weight limits, while others which promote comfort are incredibly heavy. Furthermore, the size of your pack needs to reflect the type of activity youll be doing. For instance, a 70 liter pack for a weekend spring/ summer trip is insane. Many new backpackers often buy a large pack and combine it with a common theory of packing ones fears. Always remember: ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain! You will learn this adage one way or another! Trial and error, hiking your own hike - whatever... Youll learn. In the interim, videos like this are an excellent start, but go to your local/ reputable outfitter to make a selection and ensure proper fit and platform. Many places pride themselves on helping beginners and experienced backpackers alike. Visit more than one if possible.
