Dude...I was driving 20 hours without stopping (and without cruise control) and literally had to hold my leg with my hand to relax my leg muscles while keeping the same as aceleration angle.
Is there any accessory for this situation?
I buy umbro futsal shoes they have very thin outsoles perfect for driving
Brilliant, brilliant really good update on driving shoes. I'll not be investing in Piloti's any time soon.
I have a pair of Sparco Time 77 shoes which I like to drive in.
Do you prefer laceless designs for your driving shoes?
A new shirt from where?
I use Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, great pedal feel.
❤ Puma Drift Cat
Took a punt and bought some Lonsdales. They have made a big difference. Previously, I have never, ever, felt safe enough to drive with shoes on. Thanks for the recommendation. Any one in my postion should seriously consider giving them a try. The only drawback - as they are cheap - is that they slip off the pedals when the soles are wet. I might try keeping a pair in the car to avoid this.
I wear the Lonsdale trainer's.
I have some Piloti's that i got off my old man as they sponsor the race team he manages, they are the best shoes i have used for driving by far, very different design from your ones, they have a rolled heel and also side reinforcement for heel and toe they are very robust too ive had them 5 years and they are still going strong
Guys, when you buy those expensive supercars, make sure you actually get in shape and look good. There is nothing worse than a out of shape, badly dressed unattractive man in a supercar. It just looks so sad...
Great video.
I use Puma Future Cats (which I didn't wear for about 10 years and found them on the attic, almost new, coincidentally) and a pair of vintage Hogan Olympia sneakers when I'm cruising my 991 or my old Jags and Mercs. Thought about Sparco shoes and car shoes, but never tested these.
How are the Piloti's holding up?
I'm really into my trainers but for driving its really hard for me to find a pair of shoes i like the look of and give me great feel on the pedals. I own a 74' targa and i've found that an adidas shoe has given me the best feel so far. They're called the yeezy calabasas. These aren't the cheapest shoes but the leather quality is amazing and the feel on the pedals is the best i've found. Adidas actually make a shoe called the continental 80 which are very similar in style to the yeezy's but aren't as good looking, in my opinion. I was planning on picking up a pair of pilotis this year but based on your recommendation, i may not now. It would be good to see an update video after a couple months of using them? Maybe something you could film in the next month or two? Love the vids, keep up the great content mate.
Most people don't jump around in trails while driving... So, that shouldn't (at all) be a factor??
You're a spoilt man James! As someone who takes a size 16.5 UK having any kind of choice in shoes isn't a luxury I get to enjoy sadly!
Have a check out of sparco fashion. They do shoes that look good as well as look like good driving shoes
Damn the Lonsdale's are $65 on Amazon US🥲
Surprisingly informative. 👍
Lesson learned - stick to the Lonsdales.
As for the whole matter of driving shoes, I never really thought that footwear mattered that much - I've always had relatively ordinary cars - but then I bought a 2014 Fiesta and there's no room for my left foot in the footwell unless I wear really thin shoes. The clutch pedal crank is even offset to the side, reducing the amount of space between pedal and tunnel - and more than once I've trapped my foot behind the crank. Not just bizarre, but dangerous. That plus a terrible seating position (I have to push the seat right back so that my legs get some cushion support - and then the gear lever is too far away) and atrocious stowage space add up to disgracefully poor ergonomics from a manufacturer that I was led to believe to have thought of everything. Not so much 'everything we do is driven by you' as 'everything we do will drive you mad with frustration'. Lesson learned - no more Fords for me.
I wore my black ones for the first time in the office. sheesh so freaking comfortable. like freaking slippers.. I kept sliding them off and on because it honestly felt like I was wearing no shoes.
My Louis Vuitton driving moccasins have substantial pads on the bottom so that they can give you lots of wear before they have to be replaced. Todd’s don’t have that kind of protection. Super comfortable too
I’m 21 and I’m tryna get me some UGG loafers 😅
Whoa...whoa...whoa...(edit)...You are into racing??? You REALLY need to talk about that more!!! Racing and style are one.
Lol, I hate Oxfords, I'm probably breaking all the rules but Ioafers are my main dress shoe. I love them!
Do you wear them without socks?
Is there a website that’s for big and tall men? For polos stylish chinos etc?
My neighbor pairs them up with his thong. Looks spiffy!
Minnetonka or bust! They make the best driving shoes
As a person who goes to the track and races, i wear these a lot more because of the great pedal feel. Honestly, feels like my foot is the clutch at that point lol. Also it just looks weird wearing racing boots in public.
Nice brown moccasin, but I did not hear about the Brand ? lo look for it . Will appreciate you mention it .
Thanks for your knowledge of moccasin shoes
Those racing shoes remind me of my raving shoes... I wish I'd bronzed those babies! I burnt out a sole (no pun intended!) at a campfire after party tho ... thet were diesel brand after all
nope...
Just bought my first pair recently. Very nice shoe. I wear chukkas usually for casual ocassions but the driver is easier to put on. Like you said its more of a “tuxedo flip flops”. 😂
I thought these were too feminine until I wore a pair of driving mocs for the first time with a nice pair of shorts and button up shirt and my wife and I love the look. I think the sleek look gives it a classy casual look.
I was thinking of getting a pair of these but after reading reviews at a popular maker website there was alot of negative comments about the durability of the soles. People complained that the city sidewalks can eat up the soles very quickly on these shoes. What is your thoughts?
Got my first pair of drivers in dirty tan suede this summer. I agree with your comment that they work well as a replacement for flip flops. A younger me would have chucked on some slim jeans and slides to do some errands, but the driver with a leather lining are so much more classier and comfortable. Being English, I get the slipper comments, but they are more streamlined than the moc slipper, and don’t have the lambs wool to stop your feet breathing properly. You can also pick up a pair reasonably cheaply.
These are without a doubt beautiful and stylish shoes. However, most cannot be resoled , or repaired, don’t like the rain, and when the soles do get wet, they become very slippery and dangerous. So, before you splurge on a pair of suede Tods, you might want to move to Arizona. Cheers.
hey John how very nice to see you tonight, Sunday 31st May ... See you're still looking great Paula in UK
Can you pair these with jeans? Thanks
The great thing about suede driving mocs is the wide range of colours. The downside of course is that they attract dust, dirt & stains. I have a beautiful ochre-coloured pair of perforated suede mocs made in Italy - with top-grain leather insole, you betcha - that I spilled a drop of mayo on and didn't notice until it had soaked in. The shoe doesn't look so bad lately because the mayo has blended in with the other stains it's picked up in the meantime, but whenever I see a bottle of mayonnaise I get really angry and all summer I don't dare eat a single BLT.
dear Kavalier, i am searching for a new categories of shoe, loafers with sneaker soles(no heel). like greats wooster, allen edmond burke vernetian, any round up any other brand do this type?
Nice video. Timely, too. I haven't owned a driver for a long time. Last one probably was low quality. I'll explore the offerings listed and pick one in time for 4th of July.
I found a pair of Allen Edmonds driving shoes at a discount store for 100 I really like them . first driver shoe. Blue grey ish leather
Aurelien is pretty close to the Tod’s mocs.. do check them out 👍🏻
check out Eve & Kane
Man, these are some extremely well put together videos. Great work.
Can I order from you
Btw for the fellow car guys, these are actually amazing for driving. Senna used them for a reason
Barefoot drive is better, sensitive feeling for Pedal
Can anyone here help me with comparing Wolf & Shepherd's Gunner Driver with their Monaco Loafer for styling, comfort, durability, etc. I'm trying to decide on my first pair of loafer/driver type of shoe for somewhat casual Spring/Summer. Thanks!
I must mention that Fryes actually had plenty of good ones up until few seasons ago. I basically always wear drivers for everything 🤷🏻♂️.
So tods and all the others without heel guard just show a shoddy effort on manufacturer. It’s like Gucci making 600$ rubber shoes and luring the teens/early 20s, while ruining the class and panache you get from Bally, @ much cheaper, and Prada/SF @ comparable price. 🙌🏼.
I don’t let Gucci within 6ft 😂. It lost the gentleman standing a while ago.
For reference:I’m 27.
I'm thinking of getting a pair of suede drivers for my house slippers during winter. I wear slides normally
Florsheim has good drivers.
Grey shoes marks so deep the bunions specially on left foot, whose from ur background has bunion?
I might sound harsh. All drivers are garbage and are not repairable as another viewer said. Guaranteed hole in the nose area no matter which brand you buy because of a poor design. If you don't wear them at all then they will last. Save your money and buy other design.
Are they made in Brazil or Portugal? Lol
While I no longer wear a Driving Shoe for more precise "Heel and Toe" gear changing, I find that one in the $200 range is ideal for packing into a carry-on luggage flight bag, when a 7Kg limit applies. I effectively use it as a slipper when I am in my Hotel room, or walking around the Hotel swimming pool, or gym. Thanks for highlighting the range of alternatives. Phil.
I got lucky and picked up a pair of Bally leather drivers (in red) from saks for $200- marked down from $495. My splurge purchase on drivers was a pair of red Gucci leather drivers I purchased back in $2015. They are still in mint condition as I wipe them down top and bottom after every wear. I’ve probably worn them twice a season and they are still in MINT CONDITION. I believe I paid $600 for those.
