This game was absolute trash. It was advertised and made to sound like it was similar to Fallout but it was very limited on the locations and very linear. And the entire was such a ridiculous letdown.

This game deserves a remaster. I have it for the ps3 and i love it. Still do. Even ten years later.
Honestly there isn't anything too special about this game but I remembered I really loved it for whatever reason. And I don't remember having any complaints besides the campaign not being long enough and there not being any real side missions but I genuinely loved everything else about it especially the aesthetic and the way everything looked and I think it was definitely better then rage 2 in many ways. Both games are fun but the first will always be better in my opinion

Even crappier Fallout 4
This game doesn't get the love it deserves despite getting all the hate it deserves. It was a feat of it's time for being a tech demo gone off the rails. Sure, the ending sucked but when I got there and the credits started rolling I wasn't angry because it was a shite way to end the game. I was just angry there wasn't more game to play. I. Wanted. More. Rage. and then a week before Bethesda announced Rage 2, I was tweeting at them about when we were going to get more Rage. And then the trailers dropped, and I was pumped. And then I found out the game didn't pick up where Rage left off. And then I found out you weren't the same player character, And then I found out the game sucked, thankfully before I bought it. I was more pissed off by Rage 2's existence than I was pissed off about any of Rage's shortcomings. Rage and Wolfenstein were sacrificed on the alter of R&D for id Software to pump out Doom Eternal having released 2 games with drastic mechanic experimentation that were soundly rejected. So I'll take Rage being a tech demo over Rage 2 being a nazi zombie fetus that escaped from it's lab.
Rage it's one the most game i play these days again after years, great graphics, great and easy cfg for give a huge improvements on graphics and performance, about that, that games it's funny as hell, races it's funny, gameplay it's a lot funny, i raccomended that game a lot! my vote it's 8.5
I'll choose Rage over Borderlands any day of the week!
i actually enojyed this game a bit more than i enjoyed Borderlands 1, altough they are very similar. The presentation and graphics are VERY NICE and trump Borderlands by far. The only dissapointment i had with this game was when it finished, feeling like it needed another third of the game or at least a new city to play with. Other than that? nothing to complain, the animations are top notch, the vehicles are fun, the game looks really good, just play it, you'll see, its' nice.
I still think this game, despite all its problems, is a lot better than the second one.

I really liked the game. Hated the ending (like what the hell were they thinking?). And all the racing stuff was soooo tedious. not something for completionists enjoyment.

I'm about 5 years too late, but you've got the idea of MegaTextures wrong, or at least the main idea of it (though the unique look thing was definitely part of it). The whole deal with them was that ALL of the textures for a given area of the game was actually just *1* big ass texture (which is why the game came on 2 disks on console). So everything in that area used just 1 single texture which contained everything for all of the objects and environments in the area, with the idea being that 1 texture would be better and faster in terms of pop-in and shit like that (even though it technically it wasn't). It had the drawback of having a shitty resolution though, because each object is mapped with a small bit of the big texture with an arbitrary resolution, rather than having a texture on its own with a specific resolution (so imagine cropping a tiny bit of an image, instead of using the entire one for an object). For reference, the max resolution for a given MegaTexture on idtech4 is 32,768 x 32,768px, so it's easy to see how things can get a bit low-definition if you're trying to squeeze a bunch of objects into that space. Though I think Rage could pull 128k for a Megatexture. If you know anything about "trim sheets" for texture mapping in video games, Megatextures is that concept taken to its most extreme. It's definitely a neat concept, and was used for a handful of games, but it didn't revolutionize the field of game design like Id had hoped.
100% agree with you with your opinions of the game! The combat is boring and repetitive, the textures are ugly, the story and characters are alright I guess, and at the end of the day, it had so much potential, and what we got was not bad, but not very good either.
I'm really difficult to impress, but I found myself enjoying rage 2. I didn't enjoy any of the fallout games.

I was really enjoying this game! Then I got the most absolute game-breaking bug. The game would seem to save when I would manually save but wouldn't actually be saving! If I attempted to load any of my 5 manual save files they all dropped me 3 hours to a mission I had already completed. I tried looking it up to see if there was a fix. couldn't find one! I restarted my computer and the game! Tried making new game save files. Nothing worked! It's no longer worth the effort.

recently rage 2 was free on epic store and i enjoy the game. i am on new game+ hard. Fun Game! It has some problems but to have some fun and shoot some goonies i like it. p.s: that ubisoft games are all the same or mostly. why open world when you can craft masterpiece games like the deus ex series or doom to name a few

Okay, I have to say it. the story, the voice acting, and the flow of the game is absolutely laughable coming from a long-term RPG/FPS fan. I've played every FO, all the witchers, horizon zero dawn. My brain started slowly dying the first 10 mins of this game and no perk system or "combat encounters" can solve that. The tutorial hand-holding is a joke and I fully believe you were paid to make this video
