Is there a hand tool out there that can “square” crimp 4/0 AWG wire ferrules? I don’t know what else to type in the search bar. 🙄 I might just have to get a different distribution block instead of more tools.
I hate spade connectors so much. Prefer ferrules by far.
Just wondering... The one below is only used for computer PSU cable crimping... but could it be better versus the one you reviewed? Unless the only thing it has better is the 4 different Jaws. It's cheaper than the one MDPC sells. I really want to see a review of the Engineer branded ones, if that is same price as MDPC i might as well buy that... Those are the same crimpers as a dozen other "brands"; same as I have and recommended. They'll work fine. Not great, fine. As for "thousands of crimps", they wont last, but you shouldn't expect that for $25 either.
These crimpers with interchangeable dies are very cheap. I would be interested in seeing a review of a crimp tool that does crimps for the "DuPont" type of connectors. My understanding is that there are few standards and all manufacturers make their own terminals *and* a very expensive crimp tool they will sell to you. I enjoy your videos and always look forward to the next.
Go for IWISS brand from China. They are pretty good quality and machined jaws. Some kind of thread cutting being used for making the jaws. I cant remember the exact name of this technique. Will have to look around. They also have ratchet locking mechanism and very decent quality. I have been using them for not less than 2 years and those still work like a brand new one. May be IWISS is the best brand in china. However I do not like changing jaws for different works so I bought them individually.
Don't believe the hype - I bought an Engineer PA09 for £27 on promotion and its useless for crimping Dupont and no better than a cheap SN-28B for JST
I prefer to solder wire joints but not always possible, this seems to be a great crimper for the price.

For the Dupont MiniPV terminals you need a die that is round for the insulation part. See here: http://tech.mattmillman.com/info/crimpconnectors/#minipv The insulation isn't meant to be curled up on itself like that but wrapped around the wire. That's why you need a die with a round profile for the insulation bit. Few cheap tools have that, unfortunately.
Do you not have to use the adjustment screw when switching between the different dies? Could that be why some required more force to be applied?
I'll give you an idea for waterproof submersible Superseal amp Tyco type connectors. Although you can manage to crimp them with a normal crimper, they have their own crimp tool. I use them a lot in the automotive wiring and also for submersible pumps under 5 feet of water and they do not leak because of the silicone seal. Nice and tidy case, specially for the price. Over the years have accumulated 4 different ratcheted crimp tools for different type of crimps and thet take a lot of space.

The Buchanan C-24 crimper is for a very specific use. When crimping sleeves were developed for connecting the ground wires when doing AC work (mostly 14 and 12 gauge wire) they were developed by Buchanan. Therefore the Buchanan crimper. Designed for a positive connection of the ground wires.
I noticed you said the Daniels crimper crimps contacts that are not that common. They are very common in motorsports wiring.

Oetiker is a swiss manufacturer for such clamps. They invented this style of clamp, the company was founded in 1942. https://www.oetiker.com/ But some special pliers are missing in your collection: Knipex crimp-grip pliers, if the crimp is properly done it will lock. Great video describing which side is which, and why. However, the clocking is very important as well having the split on the top (or bottom)-- even for brazed terminals, as shown but not communicated.
Fantastic! I have been looking for which way you put the connectors in, it sort of makes sense in that the yellow slot being wider would interfere with a blue ring or blade connector if you put it in backwards. I have watched several videos in search of this explanation and they always babble on about red blue yellow and show you stripping wire before putting the connector in either way completely eliding the fact that the crimping die is not symmetrical and that there is a right and wrong way. I worked in the electrical field for 37 years and you just taught me something. My crimper is a different brand. Allot of confusion exists on which way to orient the crimper on the terminal.
They also leave a mark on the insulation on the ring side on top

Very well done! I'd recommend these types of terminals, the nylon insulated type, over the vinyl insulated ones. In my experience, (we order from McMaster-Carr) the vinyl insulated terminals do not have the secondary insulation supporting "sleeve" at the rear of the terminal. The nylon ones cost a bit more, but are worth it for durable connections. The vinyl insulation is opaque, the nylon is more transparent, allowing you to better see what you're doing.

Even for something as simple as crimping wire terminals. The reason, I'm here. Thanks for taking the time (which is money) to produce this. Finally! I must have watched a hundred videos on crimping, and this is the only one that has a proper explanation of which is the wire side of the crimper. Not even the few crimpers with instructions really mentions it. I guess everybody assumes you just know this. I've been in electronics for 40 years, and only just now bought a set of ratcheting crimpers. Thanks for this video!
These are just standard automotive terminals. Ise them everyday as an auto electrician. Honestly surpised they use them on aircraft.
