Thanks for that great review with sound previews! I have a question about todays synth market. at 9:13 you mentioned about having to pickup the value of the knobs by tweaking after setting a patch. Im so glad you brought it up! Is there a synth (analog, modeling, digital, any kind with patches built-in) in the market that has lights around knobs(like apc40mk2:) that instantly sets the values of that patch?
I had the original bass station keyboard, and the bass station rack, and just got the new bass station 2 today.. its great. Can do all the old ones could and a lot more, and it just had a price drop in shops here in Europe so was almost same price as a micro brute. For me i guess it just has a very familiar sound that i really like. I always liked the original more then the SH-101, but felt like the SH-101 had more features, but now with this version 2 with all the extra features its a perfect little mono synth in my taste.

at the end when you were overdubbing with maschine were those sounds from the bass station that you sampled into maschine or some a maschine sound, sample, vst ?
been using this for seven months or so. Love it. Very versatile for the kind of music I make. Love how easy it was to just dive into it and start working since the design is very intuitive. Goodreview!

I thought of a bass station but never heard one sound coming off it that I would consider to use somewhere. I just don't like the sound of it, which is sad regarding the amount of features you get for the money.
Im new to synths, not sure whether to go for the mininova or bass satation, I want to use it live and it to be programmable to get ideas down, any thoughts?

I bought the original Bass Station when it came out in 1993. I'm trying to remember what I did with it. I think I gave it to my brother around 2000, who also played keyboards. I wonder if he still has it. It complemented my Korg X3, which I remember selling.

Hello, i'm trying to do some patch assigments to my BSII from my hardware sequencer. Does the BSII accept transmission of CC/PG/Program Change messages? If so, how can we find out the CC values for the different BSII patches, so that we can enter them into the sequencer (for assignment etc.)? Thanks.

Looks like a one trick pony.
The Bass Station II has a good sound, but every patch kind of sounds the same. Nothing special about the controls or the design of the synth: it's the same bog-standard stuff you get from any generic keyboard. It's like an MS-20, but with patch saving, an extremely basic arpeggiator, and of course it doesn't have the modular cable feature of the MS-20 which sets that synth apart from others. Good demo from Sweetwater though: nice and too the point without the useless chitchat about nothing you get from other demo videos "Well today I got my xyz, and I unwrapped it, and I put the boxes in the trash but first I had to rip them up so they fit in the trash can" etc. etc. for 5 minutes before you get any information.

tested this today in my local music store i have to sat that it's alot of fun to play with and it sounds really phat compared to other analogue synths i tried.
