DA*16-50/2.8 is optically inferior to Sigma 17-50/2.8 and has sudden death motor with well known ability to die. Especially those manufactured before 2012. It will be replaced by new lens that should come by 2021 as the prototype already was shown. DA12-24/4 is perfcetly built lens with plenty of resolution, unfortunately chromatic aberations are present and are visible. So since I got MUCH wider Sigma 8-16, this lens mostly remains in cabinet. HD-DFA*70-200 is just overpriced huge telephoto lens with slow focusing motor, significant focus breathing and not impressive image output when compared to other 70-200/2.8 lenses. HD-DFA150-450 is interesting and huge 3x zoom that at least has very decent image quality DA55-300 PLM only works on latest bodies so owners of cameras like K5 or K50 won't be happy with these.
Did you try any of these? 16-50 doesn't get best reviews. I love my 16-85, 55-300 PLM, 50-135 f28, 35mm limited macro, 100mm macro and 70mm f2.4 Limited. Out of these you mentioned the 55-300. Many Pentax shooters also love the 31/77 FA Ltd glass not mentioned. Good luck with the amazon links!

The 16-50 unless recently redesigned while great optically has had SDM issues. After two failures I ended up converting mine to screw drive.
Pentax DA* lenses are rated to cope with rain, and so too are Pentax weather sealed bodies. NO manufacturer can match this, in fact they will claim their bodies and lenses are weather sealed, but when you read the fine print in their user manuals, they'll tell you not to use the products in rain. They even market the cameras and lenses with water on them, yet they'll tell you to get it serviced after its made contact with water. They're only humidity sealed.

You should have named the video to "best Pentax ZOOM Lenses in 2020" instead. As i would agree with that selection of lenses in the category of zoom lenses I would have to strongly disagree with the selection according to your video being named "best pentax lenses". We can debate about not having one of the remarkable "limited's" in here but we can not debate with not having the new starglass primes in here. When dpreview finally decided to review the new 50mm 1.4 they came to the not surprising conclusion that it is the sharpest 50mm they have ever had in testing (when it was stopped down to 2.0) and it was still on par wide open with the best competition lenses (sigma, otus) in the field. For the new 85mm 1.4 I am not sure yet but from what it looks like in sample pictures it is a beast in sharpness as well. And both lenses are designed to serve even much higher resoultions as well so we have yet to see the true potential of these gems on a possible future k1 mark III Which should also be put into heavy consideration if you buy a lens in 2020. My list would be for aps-c the 16-50mm and the 12-24mm (well chosen). Also the 70-200mm and then the new 50mm and or 85mm and also the 31mm limited maybe.
Need to add more details about the actual quality of lens. e.g. edge sharpness, focus speed, smoothness of zoom, etc.

It's a versatile lens. Last year I got a good deal on a used one. The 50-135mm looks like a really good lens for landscapes and maybe even some wildlife photography.

Is there infinity focus on 18-135 pentax lens
Ordered the Pentax k-70 with the 18-135 today. Read a lot of reviews, seems a great set to restart again. Hope I'll receive them soon. Can't wait.

nice Pentax reviews. I have the K50 but someday I hope to upgrade to a K70 with this lens. Also looking to get some f/2.8 zooms by Sigma or Tamron, as well as a fast prime in the 85mm range. Right now I have the 18-55 and 50-200 kit lenses as well as the f/1.8 50mm prime. One question, will the lens hood go onto this lens backwards for when you store it in your camera bag? I got this lens together with K-3 II. Great lens. Sharper than Nikon 18-140mm VR lens.

I'm looking at the Tamron 2.8 lems, and the 70-200/2.8. I realize the Tamron likely won't be as quality as an equivalent Pentax lens, but the price is right for my purpose. . would these be better quality and a good upgrade (aside from just the 2.8 aperture), compared to my kit 18-55 and 50-200 lenses that came with my K-50 kit? I also hope to someday get an upgrade camera body, and depending on which one, I might opt to get the 18-135 kit when I do. then I'd have more options with WR rating when I don't need the shallow DoF or light is good and 18-135mm would lead to swapping out lenses less often. I also have the 50mm/1.8 lens.

I don't have the other two, but the Tamron is a nice, sharp lens, and very reasonably priced. I would also recommend the Pentax 16-85 mm f3.5 - 5.6 (quiet and very sharp) and the Sigma 17-70 mm f2.8-4 Macro. Incidentally, the SDM motor has failed on my 300 mm f4 and 16-50 mm f 2.8 lenses.
I'm planning to switch my 18-55 for the 18-135. I've got a 50-200mm as well, but when it's raining outside it's not recommended to change lenses.
I upgraded to the 18-135mm. It's amazing, fast and silent and a huge range for travel. I am also very impressed with the image quality, great overall lens!
The Tamron 17 to 50 f2.8 was my upgrade from the standard kit lens too. Bit noisy AF but that constant f2.8 makes a big difference, I'd recommend the Tamron too.
I had this and the 18-55. The only advantages of this over the 18-55 are it focuses faster and quieter. It didn't seem any sharper and definitely isn't more rugged despite what it says about WR. Mine was hit by a volleyball as I stood courtside and the whole barrel of the lens was dislocated out of place. Cheap, all plastic and not worth more than $50 or so. The retractability of the lens is a drawback, not an advantage. So aggravating to try and take a picture but you can't because you have to hit the button and turn it. It was constantly stuck. Glad I got rid of it.
I don't like the plastic attachment, the attachment of my 50mm f1.8 broke after a few months
