It’s 2019 and I think I might buy this watch even though it’s 5 years old
Imagine yelling it out in public, I got a pebble watch.
I used to love my pebble steel, now it's just screen tearing

I just got a pebble steel From a keymaster machine second try i won only wasted 2$
These watches are worse than useless now, Bluetooth keeps dropping out and the watch is reluctant to reconnect, which can even involve resetting and retrying many times. It is a pretty watch which is pretty useless and obsolete, Pebble does not exist anymore and was taken over by Fitbit who have no interest in supporting this watch. Unless you want a relic from the past for a museum, dont bother you are better with a $9.99 Casio with a 10-year battery.

Buying one of these in 2017, still one of the only smart watches that gives amazing battery life, and is pretty much waterproof.
The original pebble classics charging magnet isn't strong enough for it to be placed on.
Given the current price point on amazon ~$60, and the state of the company - is this watch still a viable smartwatch? I understand that it'll remain functional through 2017, and I assume basic functions, such as showing the time, and notifications will still work after 2017.

Pebble Time Round?
Why would you run out and buy a new cable when you get a new watch? The watch comes with the cable you need. It last 5 to 7 days, not like you need n emergency charger.

This is the best Pebble. I've tried the classic, time round. even the Apple Watch and I always return to my Pebble Steel. Love the simplicity, battery life, looks and it's really hard to scratch or damge.

I bought a box of watches at a yard sale and got excited after finding this smart watch in the group, it works great and looks awesome. But sadly I have an iphone that it won't connect to it. So basically I can't do much with this watch. :.(
I did some googling to find which smartwatch really suits me and finally ordered pebble steel on 2017 does this make me a bad person?
Was gonna buy one of these until I realised pebble was giving their company to Fitbit. Don't want to risk buying something and it not working in a years time. Bought a moot 360 instead.

Good review! I love my Pebble Steel. I previously had a Moto 360 (1st Gen) but the battery life and ADD interface wasn't for me.
I got my pebble last Friday and I got 4 days out of it and the last time I plugged it in I only get almost 2 days don't know what's going on can you help!

Nice review. The battery life on average is 3-5 days some may get a tad more or less but it will vary on how many notifications you get.  If you set it for things like twitter and fb etc and you have a lot of incoming then it will eat into the battery life by a day or two maybe.  The watch is excellent and makes for a great addition to the phone and not the other way round as it should be in my opinion.  Also I agree the leather strap is more subtle and less intense looking providing a more professional and mature feel.

whats the difference between this and the original pebble? Besides the steel part. Is the app still the same for both? Is the hardware the same? Are the apps available for both or does the steel have some that the original doesnt?
Idk I want one but Im not sure if Im willing to shell out 250 for it. The plastic one just looks to plain for me but the steel one, well that's a bit pricey for what it does on iOS. Bummer
for me personally it's between the Razer Nabu and the pebble. The Pebble has LOTS of potential but for $250 it's not worth it. While the nabu isn't out right now the features they're promising will give Pebble a run for their money being basically a notification center and fitness band for your phone depending on the price.
Did you get the black matte pebble for review purposes only or it was purchased from pebble site? If so, how long was it before it arrived?
I would like to know if when scratched does the watch or metal strap change colour (become silver as the paint comes off) or does it remain black even after the scratch?

I just sold both my Galaxy Gear and plastic version of this watch. I would have considered the steel had they implemented a touch screen similar to the Gear but no, seems like the same old Pebble just in steel. The Gear was far more sophisticated in all most every aspect. I just didn't like the 'flashy' attention it drew to itself. You convinced me not to buy this with it's clumsy side button control. Wearables is the future but not this simple pager/e reader device.
