Awesome video! Thank you.
Hi there! I'm interested have you ever tried filming with DJI Ronin S and Lumix G80? I also have G80 but I'm not sure are these two items compatible.
Hi, What AF settings on your cam?
Wow!! nice review. Which is the song of your intro please ?
would love to see this 15 with Sigma's 16mm native M43 !
Is this lens good for vlogging?
Great!
It's Leica SL 601 compatible ?
Wonderful answers to questions I had not even thought to ask, specifically the difference in color with different brands of lenses. It makes sense now. Thanks!
Great review mate. I also would like a wider angle lens instead of the 25mm. Do you think it's worth to spend an extra money and get the leica 12mm f1.4 instead of the 17mm?
Excellent review, I went ahead and bought myself one after watching this video. Since I have the 25mm 1.7, you comparing it with the 15mm 1.7 really helped me with the decision
im cosindering this lens and sigma 16mm mft , which do you think is better??
15 mm with a mft sensor isn't very wide! Eqivalent focus length of 30 mm optically is close to 50 mm and belongs more to the "normal" lenses. It is NOT a real alternative to the 25 mm kit lens. Please look for a prime lens much wider than the 15 mm! Samyang 12 mm f2.0 may be an option or the Venus Optics Laowa 7,5 mm (both manual).
Yup that's the magic lens.
Great review. In case you happen to stumble upon the Sigma 16mm/f1.4 a comparison of those two lenses would be very interesting.
Dear Shane I just subscribed your channel. I own a GH5 by 2 days and I am impressed - shocked by your precision in color grading and your detail. Would you share your settings and how you grade, the luts you have, the record mode etc? I would pay for it. Literally. THANKS A LOT. Love you.
Great video as always! Caught between 2 expensive hobbies, but youre rocking it! Keep up the good work!
Great review!
What would you choose... Panasonic 15mm f1.7 vs. Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 (with Viltrox)?
A photographer who shoots in auto? Maybe you should try something else, maybe guitars.
You could call your channel "In the Shane".

Nice photos
i already have the 25 1.4 and the 12 1.2 not sure if i need this.
This ain’t no budget lens, dude.
14mm 2.5 is only $200
Do you live in Macau?
What is the lens you are using in your video?
the Olympus 17mm f1.8 is even cheaper, among these two, which one would you recommend?
Great video man!
I leica it!
I bought one of these. It was my favourite lens until it was stolen. I haven't replaced it yet because it is expensive and it is a nice to have lens for me instead of a must have.
Quote: "It's a good looking thing to have even if you do not use it" - - this Guy has to work for Panasonic. Nicely coloured photographs nonetheless.
Very good review! Thanks! Do you found the autofocus as good as the 12-35 f2.8?
Does the PL 15mm manual focus ring works well on Olympus body?
Often when looking at micro 4/3 lens for travel , I’m quite impressed with the minimum focus distances , which may make that 6 reasons to buy it, don’t remember exact distance of that particular lens though.
Nice video mate thanks! 😀
The video is shot by Yanleo with his Nikon D7500 which is why it looks different than before.
I will be reviewing that camera as well as some Nikon DX lens.
So if you are interested in that, go ahead and subscribe to the channel!

I just cut a deal for this lens and another much much rarer and cooler Panasonic item that I'll find the video about and comment there for :-D Exciting, much better suited to street/travel than the 16mm Sigma 1.4 that I also have. Will go well on the GX9 and GM1 :-) Thanks for your videos!
Yet another excellent review, thanks! (Sorry to be boring, but the title card says 17mm not 15)
Great review! I've watched your other reviews and you're doing a fantastic work! I own the Lumix GX80/85 body and I mostly use the Lumix 25mm f1.7 for general photography and portraits. I'm looking for a wide angle but can't decide between the Leica 15mm f1.7 and the Olympus 17mm f1.8. I've also watched your review on the Olympus 17mm f1.8 and I'm trying to decide which one to go with. Do you have any thoughts? I'd really appreciate some advice taking the 25mm f1.7 into account.
V much like both the Leica 15mm & Oly 17mm David. The 15mm seems more punchy & maybe better for those who want OOC JPEG’s & tbh it’s gorgeous. Sadly the 15mm also suffers from significant barrel distortion when not paired with a Pany body I believe which is why I felt I had to side with the Oly. 👍🙏🏼
sorry distance scale is 'reversed'.
you are best reviewer out there !!!!
Thank You David.
In my dreams if I could go back and weed out all the dusty 35mm glass I have and all the glass I used in 50 odd years, the trilogy would be; 24mm corrected , 35mm and a 105mm.
Some where in the ends would be a 17mm and 200mm.
My wife married me to get her mits on my Takumar 17mm!
Lucky me I got the better end of the deal. The better half as it is.
Running with a 35mm I often felt like I wanted some punch.
Partly due to your efforts, I decided on the Lumix 20mm.
With only hours in my hands, the 20 wants a mate.
A 12mm is tugging on my brain.
I liked the notion around the poppies and the candids of folks brandishing cameras.
Cheers Chris
Great video, great photos, and great review. You are my favorite camera reviewer!
Proud to have the Panasonic leica 15mm in my collection 😉
I love the comments that fitting the hood isn't as inconvenient as it could be because you'll probably lose the lens ring anyway. How true
Don't take this the wrong way, but 2:25 - in this video you complain about the vanity ring! :-D In the others you complain the lens doesn't come with one! I now pronounce you whinging POHM :-D Meant with the greatest affection, mind you. Love your videos :-)
David many thanks for your review of the pans Leica 15mm i had thought of purchasing but have decided on the Oly 17mm by the way what is that cord attached to the VF
Hi David!
Regards from Stockholm again where we've had windy weather, above 0 temps and not a trace of snow since Christmas! Horrible weather!
Lots of questions for you today - if you have the time to answer them! I'm hoping to get a GH5 by March or April. I"ve managed to pick up both the Leica 8-18 and the Leica 12-60, f f2.8 lenses for 100 quid.
But, my head is spinning researching low light alternatives.
Would you go the speedbooster route with something like a Nikon 50 mm f 1.4 which is, as I understand it, a lens meant for a mirrored camera, or this F 1.7 Leica which is, of course, a native MFT lens.
A guy at Scandinavian Photo here in Stockholm was of the opinion that putting lenses made for mirrored cameras on mirrorless cameras was never a good idea.
What do you do think?
I've moved from the Olympus 17 to the Leicasonic 15 for a reason that wasn't immediately obvious- on my Pen-F, the Leicasonic is like shooting a 35mm lens on a rangefinder. I get that little extra bit of information coming into and outside of my "shooting frame." I mentally crop to a 35mm equivalent when I shoot and then crop it in Aperture or LR. Works aces!
I have gh5 and lens is very sharp but focus is really slow , just wondering what’s wrong.
I use it on a GX80, known ans GX85 in the States and god knows how in Japan. There is one annoying quirk. I hoped I would be able to benefit from the manual aperture ring. Meaning - the camera has a front and a back dial. So I hoped I would be able to control all 3 things at once - aperture from the lens ring, shutter speed from 1 dial, Exp comp from the 2nd dial. Nope. Cannot do that. No matter how you configure the wheels on the camera and whether you choose Manual, A priority or S priority - it doesn't allow you to do it. So, in reality, the manual aperture ring stands on A (which is automatic) and the lens is controlled just like any other lens, without a manual aperture ring. Stupid.

Typo error is 15mm f1.7!!
I wish the 20mm f/1.7 was as good as this lens. That's my favorite focal length. But its AF sucks!
Such a good review and comparison, I have been looking for this. I luckily owned 17 f2.8 by chance as my nearby camera store having a clearance, I got brand new 1 year gtd. around 70 ponds and it is petty good but contrast is not sharp so I am looking for a better one.. ♥️
Thank you so very much for you videos and encouraging words,There is evidence very clear for inform,
Ohhh, thanks for this! Autofocus is not to my needs, so I just ordered the 25mm 1.7. It kind of sucks that both the 20mm and 15mm 1.7 have terrible autofocus, I would love to use them for low light filming on a budget.
video is good, but there are few views, I recommend service like Utify.io for promotion, the official YouTube promotion.

Another great video - thanks again. I think the Kit Lens is better solely because the autofocus is much quicker. But with the blur background (sorry don't know the technical terms), the new lens would be amazing for b-roll footage.
