Hiii!! Do you use this lense for Vlogging? I mean: You carring your camera on your hand/pod and recording yourself :) Because i'm thinking on a lense like this one, with stabilization for that porpose (among all others haha). Thaaaaks! :)

My fav. for m4/3 is the Oly 12-40 f 2.8 pro. It has a manual focus clutch and is very sharp wide open. Recently I shot at 1/25 s. at 40 mm handheld. Oly ibis is amazing.

How's the focus ring? It's hard about focus changing or fluid?

Hi Ben. I keep coming back to your videos. Great stuff. Thank you!  I just subscribed and rang the bell. Would you recommend the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 to get at least the same sharpness (or better) as my Leica 100-400 and get me a greater depth of field for butterfly photos (without going macro and losing portrait and video capability) and to also improve my landscapes as well, or have I been too spoiled with my Leica? I have a G9 with a Leica 100-400mm lens for birding. Great photos at all focal lengths including full zoom. I Love it! But I need a deeper depth of field for butterflies and landscapes; to lessen the bokeh and achieve the same or better sharpness (ie. to control the bokeh from stealing away deep focus). My 100-400 gets great sharpness, but I have trouble getting focused butterflies entire bodies and wingspans in frame, even with manual focus and peaking, and they don't sit around too long. I change to a smaller aperture on my 100-400 to get a greater depth of field, but even at f22 more depth of field just seems to never show up.  I need at least one more great lens and I am very particular not to fall into a rabbit hole spending money chasing lenses to find the best one I need. Thats why I am watching mega YouTube videos like I did when choosing my Leica, LOL. Thank you in advance!

Thanks for this review! We started making YouTube videos for fun and for now we have the Panasonic G7 as our starter camera. I really want a great lens but its overwhelming. I like being able to have a lot in the frame with out the camera feeling like its a mile a way while shooting. I am watching every YouTube video out there on lenses. This lens is the best for 4/3 filmmaking. It is not about the bokeh, its about composition. You dont see alot of bokeh in Hollywood and independant movies.

Hi Brennan, thanks for your video. I heard that you have the Tamron 24-70mm/ F 2.8. I currently do photography with a Nikon D750 combined with the Tamron 24-70mm. I would like to buy the GH5 in order to do more videos. I was wondering if you think that GH5 + megabones + Tamron 24-70mm would be compatible and if so, if it would give a better cinematic effect than the Lumix 12-35mm lens..? I’m new to photography and videography, and I’m using the camera to take photos for Instagram, aswell as make videos for my new YouTube channel. My kit lens is the 14-42. I recently bought the ef 70 200mm and I plan on getting the 12-35 Panasonic Lens,I also have a youngnuo 5omm to do close ups,so if you were shooting a comedy and a drama so what kind of shots would you use these 2 lens for, I know the ef is zoom lens but it also looks good up close, what shots would do with each lens I'm just checking for advice

Since when did shallow depth of field equate to cinematic? You clearly dont watch the same blockbuster films that I do. You dont see this weirdness on TV channels but I guess they spend more on lighting than anybody else. Separating picture elelements is about image sharpness, colour, texture and composition less about depth of field - just saying ;-)

When I used to shoot LUMIX I had this one with the 25mm f1.7, 42.5 f1.7 and the Mark I of this lens. That was my professional kit and I love it. But alas, I moved over to Fujifilm and I'm gonna stay there for a while. I'm curious as to how this Mark II 12-35mm renders black and whites? Did you get a chance to shoot Monochrome with this lens, Damian? If so, what were your thoughts in comparison to shooting black and white on the Fujifilm 16-55mm f2.8?
nice review as always - yes a very nice little lens - for pro work with m43. one has to own the Lumix 42.5 F1.8 with IS - the Oly equivalent is lots more money but the little Oly 42.5 F1.8 also nice but no IS - also the 25mm F1.4 Lumix is super

Hi! I think the dual IS works with your version too, not just the mark II.
I'm gonna buy Panasonic Lumix g9. I'm not sure which lens to splash on. I'm hearing the 12-35 doesn't offer the shallow depth of field you'd like with it being a four thirds camera. Gonna be using it mainly for video and I'm upgrading from an rx100iv, admittedly with little knowledge. Any help?

I have the 12-60mm f2.8 Pana-Leica lens. It's fantastic. I shot a feature film with it and the GH5 last year. I've heard people have had issues with the 12-35mm lens. So, I'm glad to have the 12-60mm.

That’s really not a bad price for a 24-70 equivalent with a constant 2.8. One lens and done??? For most I would say yes.

Hi Nate, you mentioned the "kit" lens a few times... what lens is that ? The only lens that comes with the GH5 body today is the 12-35 mm ( version 2 ) or the 12-60 mm. Hopefully you can tell me what lens came with your "kit" when you bought this ( and yup, I realize this video was made in 2017 ) so thank you, I appreciate it Nate !
