Do you actually shoot with a Variable ND filter?
Thanks, this helped as I was wondering why my footage is so jittery. I cannot decide if I should get variable or fixed NDs as variable gives more "comfort", but fixed looks sharper and better in reviews.
hi im from Philippines and i love all your video. i love photography and videography. give me camera gear that you dont use anymore godbless
“ Wassup Girls. you like variable NDs “ classic content !
Who's the muppet that chose to wear the moire-inducing striped T-shirt.
I want to believe you, but every experienced photographers can tell you used a longer shutter speed to make the picture more appealing with ND photos than without. Please do a fair compare and contrast. It’ll be hard to trust your reviews from this point on.
Loved the outro brothers! I just started my channel and I’m learning so much from you guys can’t wait for you guys to be out in Cali again!
I just got my 58 mm Moment variable ND filter. The Canon lens cap does NOT fit when the filter is on my camera. You are saying at 12:32 that "we thought about" that problem. But sorry, it's not working! I'd need a 59 or 60 mm lens cap for Moment 58 ND variable filter.
what’s their color settings for the video
Do you have any in stock for 35mm 1.8 Sony E Mount lens?
First time here, watched the whole thing, would you consider making a variable nd filter for the mini 2? Oh yeah, I just subscribed, loved your vibe!
Hi Guys. Whats the track you are playing at 5.33 please? many thanks
Best outro
How do you get the clouds exposed perfect and yourself as well?
I'm liking the colour grade on this
Lol, I stayed for that outro
Lmao you guys crack me up. This is the first time commenting on a YouTube video just because of the long out(tro)? I have been watching you guys the last few years and it’s amazing to see you guys grow as a company and the amazing products in store now.
What about the dreaded X pattern?
long outro ftw
Will it provide any benefit in case of still photos when used on Pixel 3 XL with and without 18mm wide angle lens?
What uv filter brand you reccomend
Very clear explanation
Hi i have noticed my UV filter when i put it on a 1.8 or 1.4 wide open. Bokeh having some Visible Stripes. i thought i have a problem on the lens itself but why this is happens? i have used Sony 85 1.8 and and Sigma 85 1.4 dgdn same having some stripes when having UV filters
so clear man! cheers!
Great video thank you
Thanks for the video. 4 out of 5 of my UV filters checked out ok!
Your video is a great reference. Is Hoya good? How about B+W? Thanks!
Excellent video my friend. Thanks!
So, simply to said we are cheated by producers becuase these filters do not block UV except one mode You have mention. So sad.
Great info. Thanks
But no one shows how to attach the filter, are they plug and play? I'm clearly new within this area :)
Really so useful information. Thank you.
So I made a good choice buying a B+W filter then! I'm happy!
Good knowledge
man waht a cool info
simple! bad one from china and cheap, while good filter is original and expensive, period.
Thank you for this information!
I guess when the retaining ring just falls out, it’s a bad filter too.?
Thank you
5 years later .
excellent video mate i have a question though knowing that Polariser reduce the aperture by about 2 to 2.8 stops, do i still need to have a polariser or just stick to my 3 stops nd for bright sunny days on a prime lense like the canon 50mm or the zoom lens sigma 18-35 f1.8? and my second question is : would staking 3-6 give a closer filter effect to 10 stops? thanks in advance
You made it really easy and concise. Thanks a lot.
what if i want an aperture of f5, do i start counting the fstops scale at f5.6 or f4 ?
so helpful
Very good video! I'm trying to figure out what to get for my Sigma 24-70mm Sony lens? ND2-ND32, ND2-400, ND8-1000. all variable. I shoot outdoors in bright sunlight. It's California so it's always bright? I am using this for music videos. I saw the Polar Pro stuff, which is the best that I've seen, but I am leaning toward K & F as a cheaper alternative. I am a beginner, so I figure running out and buying the most expensive ND filters isn't going to instantly make me a better filmmaker? Thank you.
3:20
So drones get an nd8 and nd64?
You may also reduce ISO to 200 or 100, with a better image quality. Just booked a variable 5 stops filter (ie: ND2-ND32).
Really informative for a beginner learner like me! Question, please: In videography how does shutter speed come into existence? Since we are shooting continuous video, and shutter is always openright? I saw 1/60s in your setting, hence this question.
The last few minutes of this vid was exactly what I was looking for
I can't change the lens aperture on DJI Osmo Action Camera; therefore, it's a must to have these ND filters on a bright and sunny day. Thanks for the information. :)
I'm trying to figure out if I should get a 1.5-5 stop ND Variable filter or a 5-9 stop? I'll be shooting with the Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. From my limited knowledge it seems like I would only be using 5-9 stops for super bright days or shooting almost into the sun? I just don't know if I will need it that dark? However I also thought that since the lens is a 1.4 then it will be letting in lots of light and therefore I might most often be needing 5-9 stops Which one would you recommend? I will be using it for video. Thanks!
Which nd filter is best for reducing rolling shutter?
such a great vid!
thank you, i bought hoya nd filters
I've wondered if there is a slightly different way to figure out what ND filter to use: 1. Set your camera to manual mode 2. Enter your desired settings 3. Your light meter telling you how far you are over exposed is the filter to use. If it says your exposure is 6 stops over exposed, then use a 6 stop filter.
Nice shot of big cottonwood canyon
how about moondog filter for iphone
great video. Just one question does anything change if I'm using nd filter while doing high speed motorcycle riding?
easy and clear, thank. get 1 sub from me
2:30 "make sure your sky is full of clouds" lol, wish I had that kind of cloud power!
Thank you for this great video! Can i use the polorize filter with the black mist pro filter at the same day?
Funny, straight to the point, and very informative in language anybody can understand. Great video!
I thought the filter didn’t work on metallic surfaces?
wow that's amazing
such a great video! thank you i came across somebody who said they were a must 100%. this answers my question that it's not always a benefit.
Just what I needed thanks
Hi Joshua, I like your video, you make it fun, original and interesting, thanks !
Hey ! ♡ We are two designers who work with polarizing filters ! Thank you for these video ! funny. You had a new fan in the opening seconds with the political bit. Great video.
Great video, Thanx
How is cpl on a wide angel lens? I have a canon 10-18 and would like to try the cpl.
Thank you. I've seen so many videos about polarizing filters and this one is the simplest and easiest to understand to someone just stepping into the filter zone lol. Have a quick question though. Would you suggest to use ND variable for sigma 16mm 1.4 on a Sony a6000 or just stick to standard ND
Very helpful video - thank you!
Been watching CPL based videos for years. VERY FIRST VIDEO where the angle of use is mentioned. NONE of the "popular" channels have mentioned it, at least not the videos of said channels I've watched. I would stated that the CPL does work between 45°-90° not just the mentioned 90°. Moreover, the effect is most powerful when the sun is out not on a completely overcast day, on those days the polarizer can make the shot warmer. Thumbs up!
Some very useful pointers, Great script and great soundtrack (no-background-music) =Top-Marks /// Just subscribed :)
Nice video. BTW, is that a Nikon D300S?
Thanks for a great informative video - came upon it by accident but well worth the time watching it.
Love this video. I struggle with most photographic concepts.
Thanks!
