Your video footage is amazingly clear and sharp. WOW. Thumbs up just for that! Cheers from Canada.
This looks like a great little camera! Really considering grabbing myself one as a pocket camera when I'm not carrying my gear bag that I can also let the nephews play with when they come over.
Thanks for sharing. I recently purchased the TG-6, and so far I'm happy with it. I use it for inspection photography where a smartphone or traditional camera wouldn't work due to possible environmental issues.
Thank you!
Indestructable so... i managed to kill my tg 5 - rip
My favorite camera has a habit of sucking lint into the interior of the lenses. I'm asking (assuming) that this waterproof camera would be lint proof. Is there a solid glass plate over the lens or is that an option? How do you switch between regular mode, macro mode and microscope mode? My current changes to macro mode just by holding it very close to the object. How about just a vid on macro and microscope modes for the TG cameras.
The only drawback I see in the TG6 is it's somewhat limited focal length. I prefer at least 200mm, but, for working closer, it'll work.
Hmmm....well, I'm not sure if it's evil, but after losing a Nikon Coolpix P7100 due to waterlogging on a rainy night last December (2019), it seems to be just what I need during the autumn and winter months, here in Seattle, where the days are mostly cloudy and I have to resort to doing my street photography at night, often in the rain. :)
is the photo quality equal or marginally better than ipone XR? i want something to use on my travels, and not bring out my phone.
Looking to get a second camera and the price is pretty decent. Think after watching this video it help me make the decision on getting one or not!
Whar about the cameras focal lengths, min/max aperture, and sensor size? thanks!
Put a micro 43 sensor in this body and this camera would be REALLY amazing. The image quality from these TG câmeras still strikes me as 2018 mid range smartphone camera.
HI great videos thank you. i live in thailand andcan buy the TG4 for 22% less than the TG6. I'm not into underwater stuff. Like street/landscape photography. which one would you go for? thx
with the info you are giving ...this video could have been max 3 mins. and that only tanks to the duck shots.
Thank you for the info bro..keep it up
Sadly for me this product was a huge disappointment. I am an licensed boiler inspector and it is my job to inspect equipment and document the condition. I need a very high quality camera that is able to take pictures in challanging light conditions and this is not it. The auto focus and adaptive ISO functions on this camera are very poor. I am questioning if it's a defective product. Ultimately I have given it to my 9 year old son as it is unusable for me in my profession. The only positive I can say about this camera is that it is indeed very tough as I literally threw it across a concrete building and it some how survived.
Thank you for another excellent review!
Not much info here just scraping the surface, the macros were blurred
What kind of watch do you have on
@ 6:00 he states he hasn't even used the newer model... THE WHY TF ARE YOUR REVIEWING THE SHELL OF THE CAMERA?
Thanks for the video
A compass inside your camera, yeah most useful tool ever..🤣
Sadly for me this product was a huge disappointment. I am an licensed boiler inspector and it is my job to inspect equipment and document the condition. I have owned over a dozen weather proof tough cameras over the years and this is amongst the worst. I need a very high quality camera that is able to take pictures in challanging light conditions and this is not it. The auto focus and adaptive ISO functions on this camera are very poor. I am questioning if it's a defective product as all the images are over exposed and low resolution. Ultimately I have given it to my 9 year old son as it is unusable for me in my profession. The only positive I can say about this camera is that it is indeed very tough as I literally threw it across a concrete building and it some how survived.
Does it make a sound when you turn it off? My wife got one and she thinks it's messed up because it makes a slight robotic noise when she turns it off.
Thanks a lot
I s there a threaded port on the bottom of the camera to screw in a small tripod ?
Assuming the menu system is the same or similar to the rest if the Olympus omd stable, I dont see the issue, it works! Panasonic menu is 10x worse, I cant understand what everyone has trouble with
When you re-watch the video and before you upload it, did you realize that the viewers CANNOT see what you are presenting?
Sounds like didn’t get this camera from Olympus as it sounds like you bought, went through the menu and made boring menu video. Get straight into what does! The OS thingy can come later
I just got this camera and so far I'm really impressed. I purchased this for situations I didn't feel comfortable bringing my other cameras but I still wanted better pictures then I could get with a phone.
It’s a beautiful camera, still shots, in the water or vlogging.
only 12 megapixels ha ha ha to bad they made a nice camera very weak on the still pictures not for me 16 to 20 on the Panasonic and Nikon
Olympus definitely has improved on the Tough series, their menu does need some work, they need to simplify it better. Great video Dave.
Nice review. Does it have image stabilisation? Do we know about battery life? I’m assuming no mic input? 😀
Video samples. :-)
Lumix is the clear winner
Here's a list that helped me out.

In the end, I went with #4.

So... I didn't see any underwater shots. Does 'waterproof' not imply underwater camera? You'd think you could at least see what a photo looks like from a few inches below the surface? Did I miss that section?
Kickass review as always
Thank you Chris I like the Panasonic
Thank you. Very helpful. More techie than i can understand, but got your main points.
Thank you for this review. I was looking at the Oly TG-6 and is is good to see the comparisons. The goal for me is a durable camera for all conditions and one that can take action shots. Would you say the Oly TG-6 covers this? OR do you have a better suggestion?
I was originally looking for a good pocket point and shoot and an activity cam (like a gopro style).
Good and detailed comparison 👍
Also want comparison between iPhone 11 pro max vs Olympus TG-6. For photography wheather to buy iPhone or TG-6?? Please help me out.
Great video! I'm actually on the market for a waterproof camera. I'm between the Fujifilm xp140, the Ricoh wg60 and the Olympus tg6. What do you think of the xp140? Worth it ?
Garbage and pointless.. use your phone lol

all can be used as action cameras?
Is this the same dude from Bow River Troutfitters?
Great video, 9 out of 10! MAJOR FAIL doing a review and not taking a moment to take any UNDERWATER PHOTOS & VIDEOS with the UNDERWATER CAMERAS. (no one else does either it seems, so next time include a "C" Roll. (in the "Sea" Roll. )
thus i love my olympus tg-870... it has a flip up screen...
Maybe it was mentioned and I missed it, but the Olympus has an incredibly robust microscope mode and very close focus distance. I use it for macro photos scuba diving and the included scuba accessories like a housing and lens make it a clear winner for me.
Noise when zooming shame
Phones take better pics and vids than these cameras. wish you would've led with that
Are the add on ring lights waterproof to the rated max depth?
My first waterproof camera was a olympus tg610 i think(lots of years ago...) i broke it in my activities after 2years , my second was again the same camera, i lost it on the way on some mountains after 2 years. I bought a PANASONIC Lumix (but not the model of your video) but the hi end model of the time that i bought it, very good features, very good price, it supposed that it will be able to follow me in my way of life for years, BUT DID NOT, brand new camera 2 days old the first time it went into the water like half a meter it broke down!!! 350euro CAMERA destroyed in some seconds!!! I went to the official distributor and service of my country and at the end i end up loosing ALL FAKING SUMMER without camera because i was waiting for them to make a conclusion!!! The camera came, fixed, problem with the sealing bla bla so i went soft with the camera from now on(NO WATER, NO TOUGH TERRAIN) things that this camera should follow easy!!! NO, after 6 months sitting in a drawer i decide to use it underwater again, after one minute the camera was dead again... i throw it in the garbage and went and buy an olympus tg850 which believe passed a lot of action, on and underwater, snow, mountains, mud mountain biking and so on!!! NEVER LET ME DOWN IN MORE THAN 5 YEARS i HAD it before i forget her on my car(the second time) and lost it on the way back home(the first i return back to the mountain 90km away to find it and i found it)!!! When it comes to compact waterproof and action cameras (NOT GO PRO!!!) OLYMPUS is 100steps in front from competitors!!! You buy something and you know it will last at least 2-3 years or until you loose it!!! I would buy tg 6 with closed eyes, just because it is an olympus everything else is for the garbage...
Thanks for the review. Discussing problems is always helpful. As for touch screen, it's a no-no for diving as accidental touches are more than the intentional ones
My favorite camera brand does it again! Love this camera! Use it mostly to capture action moments, knowing that I can still use it as a backup, if the other two cameras fail, not for vlogging. Ps: not every camera on the market is made for vlogging... we must start reviewing gear for what they're made for, not what we want it to be... I've owned GoPros before and will gladly have this one over GoPro any time... oh Youtube...
An underwater camera reviewed with no underwater footage? I am confused...
I have the tg-1 and although it doesn't have 4k etc it is still a great camera for being 8yrs old.
What is maximum lenght of video in 4K with full battery?
You can't have a touch screen on an underwater camera.TG-6 is waterproof to 15m. The ambient pressure at 15 m is 1,5 times the pressure at the surface. I have a TG-6.
How is the battery life when taking video? I am thinking about using this as a second camera, from the shore, while I am fishing and using my gopro. Thanks.

Great review. You remind me of Murr from impractical jokers.
Nce review. Nb Tough Screens dont work when wet and its designed to get wet, Rich.
200 Mbits!?!?
Outstanding video! I have been using the TG-1 for forever and a day primarily for snorkeling/diving. I prefer using the TG-1 over GoPro underwater due to battery life and screen size.
Which camera are you using to shoot this video ?
touchscreen wouldnt work underwater tho.
on my tg5 the zoom button gone where? during travelling and now service?? not impress!
I like my TG (5) because of the macro/microscope function and led ring accessory, but when I move from it to a Cannon it's like a breath of fresh air, you can instantly feel the joy of using the menu and buttons.
The TG-5 buttons feel like buttons from an old small electronic watch. Small, hard to press, no precision when pressing, even the shutter, and menu reacts slower than all Canons I had :/
I would love to see a camera like this with a 1 inch sensor. Nikon did something like that but it was famous for leaking which kind of defeated the point. The Sony RXii looks good, but that's definitely action camera territory.
hows night vision
does it have remote shooting
I need an outdoor video cam that has an external mic input. any recommendations?
