This is the quality of review that we want!
hello, is it suitable for portrait photography?
Great review! Thank you.
Hello. I wanted to buy a manual lens tamron 135mm 2.5 or a Zeiss Jena 135mm f4 or a vivitar 135mm f2.8 for the portrait. But will the Olympus 40-150mm f4-5.6 be a better choice? I have a Lumix GX7 M4 / 3 camera, so I will get a focal length of 80-300mm. Olympus has AF for this. What do you think? I have the opportunity to buy an Olympus very cheaply. I would like to use it for portraits at a longer focal length of 100mm 135mm or 150. Will I get a nice background blur and better photo quality despite the F4.5-6 aperture? THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE
you must be from Serbia, the accent is so obvious:D
Perfect review, thanks!
What do you think is the "better" Olympus lens: 40-150mm or 14-150mm (both f4-5.6)?
thank you!
Great review. as always!
Does this lens work with any camera
Most concise yet comprehensive review I have seen on any lens.
Given that i can make some « bokeh » at 150mm do i need to buy the olympus 45mm f1.8 ?
Best photo channel.
Great review
Fantastic Review my friend. I am now a new subscriber. cheers from Western Australia

I love your reviews.
Great video 10/10
Perfect review, no useless chatter or comments.
Will this work on a Panasonic G7?
I have version. It is a fantastic all-around lens and the only one I have for my EM-5 . It's a great piece of kit and I don't need anything else.
To the point! No bells and whistles! Thanks David!
i thought i was watching discovery channel or nat geo forgot i was on youtube hahaha thanks to your review i just ordered one from amazon prime for 80usd brand new for my g85.
Thanks the 50 quid will be used on this
A sensible and well balanced review. I still use my four thirds 40 -150 Olympus zooms with my nowadays somewhat elderly E-3 and other four thirds bodies together with a couple of mft bodies and adaptor. Good lenses and excellent results Being extremely mean, cynical and wary of sales mantras repeated by 'self styled' camera/gear gurus that expensive not only means best, but by some miraculous fluke of nature provides the instant ability to take wonderful pictures simply by attaching a costly lens to one's camera Having emerged from the analogue swamp of the 60s and 70s as a professional wedding and events freelance photographer and having been reasonably content with the results achieved with fairly basic 35mm and large format cameras and lenses, the present day drooling over what is - if you want to appear cool and hip - referred to as 'expensive GLASS', seems to me a bit sad and demeans what was a skilled profession and also a hobby - existing happily as a separate and fun way of passing the time. Surely the Magnum and Reuter photo/press agencies were less concerned with gear and lens test results than actually getting images that would sell and help its readers to think and understand more about the world and its people?!
This lens is great fun for handheld photography with an auto extension tube.albeit on a sunny day. I've captured some really nice insect macros that you can only get with a telephoto zoom to maintain distance. Great video again David, thanks.
Just bought one of these - looking forward to using it!
I just got it used today for 35€. Can´t say no to that. Can´t wait till it arrives.
Even in 2019-2020, this lens will pair well with my G9 for a stocking stuffer to myself. For $99 and a $10.00 hood, I believe I'll get some pics making it a well spent/invested $100. Thanks for the over-view six years later David!
This is by far my most fun lens to use. I mostly photograph landscapes and this little guy has given me some really amazing photos, hell I've even been able to dabble in wildlife photography with it. My first camera was a smartphone where you're limited to only shooting wide angle, having a lens like this totally changes the possible perspectives which is really cool. The optical quality is fantastic and holds it's own against my 25mm f1.4 which was 4x the price. I highly recommend this lens to anyone starting out on micro four thirds! It's so cheap even if you don't like using it you can keep a hold of it for the times it could be handy.
I just recently picked up this lens to use with my BMPCC4K for $99 (USD). I like it a lot. Here is my first video using it: lens for the bag Buy with confidence
Hi David, i want to thank you for putting out this review. I bought this lens because of it. I am on a budget and this lens opened loads of possibilities that i would not have without it.
Hi David, love you're videos on MFT cameras & was thinking about getting the OLYMPUS OM-D E-M10 MARK II twin lens bundle, I've had a few cropped sensor nikons in the past & was thinking about taking a different path into MFT & just wondered if this camera is the way forward the one I've been looking at comes with the 14-42mm & the 40-150mm lens bundle on amazon for £549, I'm a person who loves landscape photography & airshows. I saw one of your old reviews on this camera like I have done with some other you tube reviews & even though I've looked at other MFT cameras this one keeps cropping up as still one of the best for the money, what do you think. is this still worth the money or is there another MFT camera that looks as good as this with a twin lens bundle or a decent lens that'll make me change my mind? Thanks in advance
What an awesome explanation impressed. Im from Malaysia.
Amazing video man! I have a question, please answer. I'm about to buy the G85 and it comes with 12-60 f/3-5.5.6 or 14-140 f/3.5-5.6 kit lenses. (14-140 and 12-60 are kit lenses and i can choose one of them) What should I buy: 1. Panasonic 12-60 f/3.5-5.6 and Olympus 40-150 f/4-5.6 2. Just Panasonic 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 (i'm getting prime 25mm f/1.7 in both cases). I do video the most. I heard that Oly 45-150 suffers from a lot of chromatic abberation, whilst 14-140 supposedly has micro jittering issues. Also, 12-60 isn't as sharp as 14-140mm is, but Olympus 40-150 is sharper than 14-140mm at the higger end (100-140mm).
I purchased this lens from Curry's as a stock clearance ex demonstration model approx 2 years ago it also came with an Olympus EP6 camera and a 14-42mm kit lens, the whole package cost me £144. I only really wanted the 40-150mm lens, which at the time was approx £159 on its own, I still own all three items.
As review is the most concise and elaborate of all available online. That's it. I am getting a used one online today. Thank you very much for your time and effort.
Nice review, thank you.
*Bought this lens for a safari trip in Kenya. Took amazing pictures◔。◔>  even from a moving vehicle. Would recommend as it is a great small travel lens for the price.*
is this lense is compatible with panasnoic Lumix g7 camera?
No lens stabilization isn't a problem. I refuse to buy a camera body that chains me to a certain brand of lenses, should I want that feature. It's a shame, because I would like to do more video. I'm waiting for Olympus to give us more video features in the next OM-5, that's my only complaint with Olympus atm. Otherwise they have my loyalty, as they consistently deliver when things are ripe to be delivered, not earlier. And if they don't this time, I'm gonna go blackmagic for video.
Good detailed review, thank you
Great review; thanks! I recognized the beautiful scenery of Vancouver. I'm going on a trip to Southeast Asia soon and although I own the 40-150mm f2.8, I thought it would be too heavy and cumbersome to carry around so I was thinking about picking up this lens that you reviewed; lighter in weight, smaller and as you said; cheap enough to lose. Your review helped me make up my mind to get one. I just bought a reconditioned one from Olympus on line for $60 (USD). So I'm planning to take this lens along with the Lumix 20mm f1.7, hoping the combination of those two lenses will be adequate for my travels. Thanks again! I've subscribed :)
Hi I have question for you this lens 40-150 is good for olimpus e -510? Thanks
Hello. I wanted to buy a manual lens tamron 135mm 2.5 or a Zeiss Jena 135mm f4 or a vivitar 135mm f2.8 for the portrait. But will the Olympus 40-150mm f4-5.6 be a better choice? Great photos bro. I bought a used Olympus 40-150 for my G85. Can't wait to use it.
