What food you recommend for 8 inch oscars the jumbo fish formula?
For a 6+ inches flowerhorn which is best.....northfin cichlid formula or northfin tropical sticks??
Ive purchased 1mm for my fish and they are 3-5 cm. It sinks so fast to the Ground that they Can hardly catch the food or see it lol!! Sometimes they go to the Ground and eat it.. i have only aulonocara
i started using north fin a few years ago when i got into mbuna and now its all i use other than a treats of cucumber and lettuce
I've been feeding Northfin to my fish for a while now, it's good food!
Worst video!!! Why not show us what the actual sizes are.
I ordered the 1mm cichlid but it sinks very fast. Do the larger sizes float longer for the fish that prefer to feed on top?
Ordered northfin from Amazon India will arrive this week.. Cant wait to try them out... Just wanted to say that from our vedio i knew about Northfin and wanted to thank u
Hi jay which site can i order northfin again ty.
ALWAYS GOOD INFORMATION JAY ... THANKS !
+jay Wilson how big/small are the 1mm pellets compared to hikari small/mini pellets? TIA
Hey Jay. What is this food really supposed to for my African cichlids? Make them grow faster or make their colors pop? I have about 16 african cichlids in a 125 gallon tank with a jewel cichlid and the jewel cichlid color is not as bright strawberry red like they are seen on other videos I've seen on here. Is there and things I can do to get the color to pop? Thanks for you time and reply.
Convince Northfin to do a 3mm krill pro pellet already :)
Dude for the love of god fix you're website....terrible website
took your advice and ordered up just now hoping this will giving my EBJD some amazing color and help my blue genes breed, wish me luck
weird they don't work for me
is that ifg saying Jay wilson
Jay fix your links I'm to lazy to copy and paste ......I'm a clicker ....👇👇
switched from NLS to NF about a month ago in my show tank. Big difference in there in color and also noticed that there fins stretched out a little. Good Stuff !!
Great point size does matter. My red devil will not even bother with the NorthFin 2mm pellets but if throw in the 3mm pellets she is all over it. As your fish grow you will have to upgrade the pellet size. I m getting ready to switch to the 4mm.. I guess here in Canada we take measurements seriously Jay lol
All of the fish I have had, includes Haitian Cichlids, Dovii (Wolf), Hornet and Jack Dempsey will not eat North Fin. I've even tried using garlic enhancer but to no avail. I believe the Jack Dempsey ended up eating a couple but that was it! For me, Xtreme Aquatic Foods work better! They all love it, and it has a very good blend of nutrition and crude protein.
I just bought the 2mm size pellets for my adult discus to help them pass the food through their intestinal tract
so they won’t get bloated and constipated. I hope it works.
NF still has "meal" in it. Some brands dont have meal in it at all!!!!!
Which do I need to get for demonsi n yellow labs is it the Northfin pellets? Anyone please help cheers
Hello IFG. This seems like the perfect vid to throw down my question as to how to get my African cichlids to eat North Fin Krill Gold or Cichlid Formula. It pretty much collects on the bottom. The store said to stop feeding anything but NF for a week and they'll be hungry enough to eat it. Is that the solution or what say you? Cheers!
New subscriber here. Thanks for the great video, but the 37 second intro 💤😴
Just wished it didn't have wheat in it
it clouds my water and makes is a bit yellow :(
I use this and I love it. However, I think that Sera and Southern Delight give it a run for its money. Honesty.
Its all I feed now. The rest of my food is boxed up.
is this good for frontosa
Thanks for the info IFG.
I am tempted to try NF, but my Discus LOVE Bio-Gold and so do my Rams (great clean up crew). Both foods are mostly Krill so I guess I'll buy one bag , just to see if there is any difference.
I guess northfin is all about cichlids. Maybe cichlid formula is different, it's one week now and my discus and are still spiting the krill gold out. I wish there were some sample size.
Northfin smells like dry anchovy i love it!
just ordered my first 2 bags. can't wait to try it.
can't wait for my order
I just ordered my first bag. I've been a NLS and Cobalt diehard but I've noticed a clear degradation in the quality of NLS over the years. Can't wait to see how it goes.
We just found your channel! New subscriber thanks for the Northfin review. I keep a variety of species and in looking for a go to food for my stable.
how and where can I order this north fin food please for my cichlids
It really depends on the species you have. For example a mbuna is mainly a vegetarian, while haps are carnivores. So there really isn't a "one size fits all" pellet.
In in the Netherlands and i alsow use northfinn
I'm re-watching this older video. I have to say that while it's a very, very small scale experiment with no controls, my corydoras tend to breed regularly when they get Fluval Bug Bites while they were not breeding for several months when I was giving them the Northfin community pellets. There certainly might be other variables at play and it might just be something like a percentage of protein. Overall, though, among dry foods I like Bug Bites for little fish where you have multiple generations (i.e. fry, juveniles, and adults) in the same tank. Bug Bites tends to come out of the tin with some bigger bits and some smaller, powdery bits so it works well for multiple mouth sizes. As for Northfin, my snakeskin barbs and angelfish seemed to be fine with Northfin community pellets but no better than traditional Hikari micro-pellets. I will give Nothfin credit for their dried krill fry food. That one is a good find. All in all, though, I agree with Lisa from Super Cichlids that the dry foods we have now-a-days are all quite decent compared to those of yesteryear. The real comparison of great consequence is perhaps not among dry foods but between dry foods and frozen foods, or even between pellets/flake and freeze dried foods. I'm keen to try PE foods and Xtreme Krill flake soon.
It’s marketing hype. Northfin lied about using preservatives and chemicals in their product line. Ethoxyquin is used in their food and was found in highly elevated levels.
Is there any food you can feed mbunas haps and peacocks?
TETRA COLORED GRANULES
I believe in Northfin personally i give them cichlid formula 4 days/week veggie twice/week krill once/week & flakes for color
I guess Algae wafer is the least quality food. I am planning to try spirulina 20. Why does NLS clouds but not northfin? I mix northfin pellets with NLS algaemax.
Would be nice if the manufacturers of fish foods would create specific fish formulas for let's say Lake Malawi fish only. Fish farm from Florida specializing on African cichlids using of formula consists of equal parts of fish meal, baby formula, kelp meal, and algae meal. Coupled with a filtered Florida sunlight the fish colors were a most amazing in that farm.
Would Tetra cichlid flakes be for cichlids growth
Anyone mention hikari product... They seem pretty decent IMO
which fish food would you recommend for my Mbunas?
Ben, when I add a water for my Pleco, the Cichlids tear it apart and eat it. Is that okay and how do I ensure the Pleco is getting any of it? Thanks. Love your channel.
Feeding mine live shrimp once a week. They love it
Thanks for always putting out here in the fish/ African cichlid community great content. For me, I used to use NLS and also did find the tank to get a brown reddish color tint when feeding but fish loved it. After finding out about Northfin cichlid food through social media. Found a Lfs selling them and my Cichlidz have been hooked on Northin veggie, gold krill, and their regular pellets for over 4 yrs
I don't keep Africans but I love your videos. Thanks
North fin has bin amazing for me
NLS is over priced garbage TBH. Just compare the ingredients and you will see that.
The Northfin sinks to fast and my fish don't even realize I'm feeding them. My bottom feeders will be happy though...
Nice video. If you had to pick 1 winner, which one would that be ?
Sir,where pellet donyou think not making water brown color, northfin or new life spectrum?
That was a truly good review, especially the last segment where u juxtaposed the 5 tanks.
Thank you for this review. You might be interested to know that Xtreme and NLS started from the original formula that was developed in the 70's on the Florida Exotic Fish Sales farm in South Florida. Xtreme's flagship proprietary Krill/Spirulina formula remains the base for 80% of our product line, so it was cool that both Xtreme and NLS were your favorites. Keep up the good work. Xtreme Team
Hi sir,i liked so much your experiment,so what favorite pellet do you used for daily?
Great video you have all the info on point subbed
Great results. I just switched to Xtreme from Northfin. Funny because Northfin turned my water very yellow and my sponges were very filthy. Since the switch, even the scum on my filter outputs disappeared. Not sure if I got a bad batch of Northfin but all my friends also experienced the results I did. Great video. I had fed Northfin exclusively for 2-3 years. Keeping my fish full and looking full was very hard like you mentioned with Northfin.
Great video Bud...you got it all covered :) Subbed
Thanks for your perseverance with this time-consuming project. It is much needed. I wonder if you could possibly review some lesser-known yet high-quality European food such as Söll and Dennerle?
I’ve always fed mine NLS, despite all these critics saying their quality went to 💩. I don’t buy it. My opinion is they’d have to get better with the ingredients to compete with newer foods like northfin. I do have northfin also and they do like the food, but heck I think it doesn’t really matter what kind you put in the water, if they’re hungry, they’re gonna eat it. I’ve had the best luck getting fish to color up with NLS. I admit I did jump on the northfin hype train, but I haven’t been feeding them it long enough to see a major difference. I’ve been in & out of keeping cichlids for over 20 years, and NLS has been the best (for me) so far. Thank you for these comparison videos!
Right on! Good video!! Very informative! I like all of the bases you covered!! 👌♥️
I feed extreme and find it better then northfin, colours are much more deeper and my fish coloured up only after a few weeks with extreme pellets.
I love your optimism at the end 😂😂😂 end all debates, this probably started more but I love it thanks for taking your time out to make these videos man 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Test would be better if you used same fish. Are you feeding same amount to each tank? Some food may require less food to get same results? It seems like there are some flaws in the research. I use almost all of the foods you’ve researched but different amounts of each.
Thanks for this, interesting results. Will you be doing another one? If so can you please include Dainichi and Northfin Veggie.
Thx coastal cichlids for another awesome video. The ending with all the fishes in the sunlight was the cherry on top.
Has anyone used the NLS red fish formula?
I've recently gone ahead with an extreme fish formula, NLS red fish formula and northfin mix. Let's see how they turn out!
Look like cobalt cichlids is good....
