Nikon JAA003AB 50mm F/1.2 Nikkor Prime Lens Reviews from YouTube

My favorite lens: Nikkor 50mm f/1.2
Nikon 50mm 1.2 vs 1.4 Lens Comparison
Nikon 50 mm 1.2 AI-S review (the 1.4 does SURPRISINGLY well!)
The Angry Photographer: Nikkor 50mm F1.2 REVIEW! Nikons FASTEST LENS
it's a great quality video both for content and for video it self. Thx you very much
Is the sharpness any more or less from the 1.4G?
They still make this? Why is it not in any of the stores in my country :C
One of the reasons why you might have too much flare might be the UV filter (but still expected on an older coated lens). Also, don't underestimate the 50mm 1.4G nifty fifty. Last winter I slipped on a steel ramp while holding my D810. The camera flew and landed lens first onto the steel ramp. Thankfully (since it was raining) I had the lens hood on and that took the brunt of the impact, but it would have been something that could have killed any lens or camera. Both survived and work just fine.
Great content and presentation, you are a joy to listen to dude! Put some more Nikon stuff up?
This manual lens has no white dot. How to mount the lens on Nikon 850 please? Thank you.
I too a leap further I bought 55mm f/1.2. Pretty similar but a lot more character!
I have this lens and the 58 nokton f1.4 from Voigtlander. The Voigtlander lens is so much more astounding- I would highly recommend both of these for their characters. Each one offers a unique paintbrush to the toolbox.
I just ordered one from eBay.
I have the 50mm f2 and literally don't see myself selling it. Bought other lenses that are AF and I keep my 50 f2H on the body way more than any other lens. I'm in tuned with mine so I can focus without looking through the viewfinder. The MF on most of Nikon newer lenses sucks b/c they are too stiff
I totally get your love for older Nikon glass. I also saw your review on the 85mm 1.4. I think that lens is next on my list. I recently picked up a mint 55mm f/1.2 SC Non AI from Ebay. I fell in love before I had a chance to mount to my Fuji XT3. The build quality is outstanding. And it's so easy to use MF lenses with focus peaking on today's mirrorless cameras. Also heard great things and looking to get the 105mm, 135mm, 180mm, 300mm, 20mm and 35mm now. Collecting nice minty copies can be addicting. Anyways, great videos and happy shooting!
Thank you so much Mr. Gajewski for a great and refreshing review of the Nikkor AIS Nikkor 50/1.2. I'm considering purchasing a 2nd hand Df and this same lense which is available, near mint 2nd hand market or perhaps a Nikkor AIS 50/1.4 or even a Nikkor AIS 55/1.2. Since you have used it to shoot fully manual on your D750, how are Nikon bodies', like your cam's, focusing aid via the OVF (I don't want to use manual focusing via LCD)? Nikon's standard "Green dot" indicator manual focusing feature? Many are saying it's so hard to get tak-sharp images if one shoots with faster apertures above f/2.8 (2.4, 2.0, 1.8, 1.4, 1.2). Would it be easier if one just opts for mirrorless cams instead with lots of focus peaking features?
You just saved me $600
Thinking to bid a 50mm F1.2 AI-S tonight in the auction. The lens is junk and it has mold and fungus but the mount and body looks good. I've got all the tool and gear to open up and clean it. My max bid is $120
Good Len just hard to focus LOL
indeed ,and i have to force myself not to use this lens that much, the dreamy effect wide open is so addictive 。when using other lens,i feel i made the photo, but when use this,i feel it did all the work and im just a cable release
Thank You!
I feel you dude, the Nikkor 50mm 1.8G is the second lens that made me think, “WOW,” when looking at the images they produce. (The first was my ultrawide zoom Nikon 10-24 DX G). I finally moved into mirrorless with the Z system and have decided I’m going to skip the Z 50mm 1.8S and see what Nikon comes out with the upcoming Z 50mm 1.2S, probably my next lens purchase. Maybe we’re going to get a mini-Noct? Very exciting!
I really like the content that you do keep it up!
Finally a video on this lens that answers my questions, very well produced thank you. Plus you also have tried the other 50's helps perspective
the flag in the background just s ?
Probably the best 50ish lens for the Nikon is the Voigtlander 58 f1.4 Nokton
"only 70%" that. sounds like a lot. would love to see this with a z6 and updated results.
Why the hell does this video have so many dislikes?
Naykon
I think the reason youre finding manual focus difficult is because modern dslrs dont give you the functions and viewfinder accuracy that other manual systems give you
What about this lenses working on a nikon f3 ? Analógic
Love f1.2
You and the video are bad with focus
Try them at f2
I have the 50mm AIS
That was a waste of time to watch this video.
.Inches !? It's centimeters. :-/ we are not in 1990.
Bah, the softer 1.2 gives the dreamy bridal portraits. Other than that I’m shooting with my 85, 135 and 70-200. It’s all preference.
I knew this guy was gonna 'sell' the 50mm f/1.4 right at the outset when he basically poo-pooed the Manual Focus lens. I think the video demonstrates that one individual's appraisal of anything can't always be trusted to be in the slightest bit reliable, accurate or unbiased!
how the hell you shot only at the widest side is beyond me. the older lens is unbelievable at f/2
0:32 Noct-Nikkor 58mm/1.2
One thing that you should know about the Nikon 50mm F1.2 is that Its super sharp at F4, I used to have at least 3 or 4 50mm lenses. 3 of them where Nikon and one where the Zeiss 50mm F2 Macro Planar. The Nikon 50mm F1.2 is sharper then the Zeiss when you stop the nikon down to F4. Its the sharpest 50mm lens I have ever owned and I have owned many.
why nikon do not made new 1.2f lenses ?
To have the entire review about 1.2 only is missing the best traits of this lens. I shoot this mainly at f2. Nothing compares to the excellent sharpness & smooth background at f2 with this lens. And a f5.6 - f8 it's deadly sharp across the frame.
I don’t really need one but I really want one
Flawless video once again. Personal note: what you demonstrated in this video is exactly why the rational option is to choose a 1.4 or even 1.8 as, in terms of sharpness, the average user will end up shooting at 1.8 or higher thereby making the 1.2 (and, some argue, even the 1.4) not worth the investment. In terms of DoF, of course the 1.2 is going to fair better but the rarity of needing that narrow DoF makes it an expensive choice.
5.6 is sharpest on 1.2 lens. and it has a pretty deep field. so it is fine for group portraits. I have found the 1.4 afd is a very good lens. the 1.2 ais edges it on dimensionality. I will disagree about the sharpness. I have found my 1.2 ais to be razor sharp at f2, where my 1.4d not so much.
I would love to get my hands on a 1.2, but I have owned the 1.4D for 10 years and am always so impressed when I shoot with it after putting it away for a bit that I don't think I can justify the cost. Couple that with my overabundance of 50mm lenses of various makes and vintages and it just gets a tad redundant.
This review is a god to me. Almost all d questions i had, now i dont.
This review was great
That's very beautiful review. Can you please help me? I have a Nikon d7200. I have been using 85mm prime. It's very good lens but with the crop factor I have to stand too far away from my subject to get a shoulder length portrait. So I am planning to buy a 50mm prime. I had initially settled for the 50mm 1.8 G . Then I read about the 1.8D at half the cost. But now I think the 1.4 D is a better option. As the bokeh of 1.4 is definitely going to be better than 1.8 My question is. With a motorized body (D7200) will I be able to control the apperture of 50mm 1.4D through the command dial? I know that autofocus works fine. Please tell me whether all the other features like light metering and histogram will work or not?
This review answered all of my questions!
Not exactly on topic but I bought a 50mm f2.0 ai for 65 euro. Lens must be more than 30 years old but gives quite good results: good lens but well Overpriced. The 55mm f1.2 Ais is a much better lens (I have both).
I love my Nikkor 50mm 1.2 ais. That's just fantastic lens. Incredible video shooting. Bokeh effect and colors. If you do maximom zoom on screen you will be able to take photos still sharper than AF lenses. F1.2 is risky in many conditions but for video is the best. I bought the lens in the second hand page about 450€. For night phtography i just carry this one. In my Instagram you can see many different photos and a video with this lens. Is like a vintage gear nice and well made. Thanks for your great video
It seems luck is on my side quite often. I picked up mine minty condition for $250.00 and soon I will be picking up a nikkor 35mm F/1.4 for the same price. both for AIS. I paid for a 55mm AIS f/1.2 for 280 before tax. Like them all
Just made a YouTube video talking about how I picked two of these up for $10 a piece! Score!
Why do whe have to justify to have or to own a sertain type of lens in the first place?Just buy the dam thing if you want one.
The real use for these nifty fifties is available light video.
Not a professional photographer but I just want extremely dreamy old-school photos with ridiculously shallow depth of field. I wish there existed an affordable version of this with AF And no, I don't have a problem with MF; AF is just convenient okay? no need to be edgy and call people "pussies" for using it
The Nikkor 55mm 1,2 is even better wide open
I found this lens for my Nikon FE2 but the aperture ring is declicked should I buy for 200
How does this fair compared to the Voigtlander 50mm?
You crack me up And your editing skills are off the chart!
Wow! This is an amazingly affordable lensσσ I only shoot in manual mode and so far I've used it on two photoshoots and a video interview and it looks a lot sharper in comparison to the lenses with a range. If you are on a budget, I highly recommend getting this lens.
My wife does not like the way you explain things. I happen to love it. "Silk, Sex, and Sugar!" I've been using it around the house with great enjoyment.
Video voice guy, you are a hero
have you tested the nikor 58mm f 0.95
I have the Canon EF 50mm f1.2L and this Nikkor 50mm f1.2. He is dead wrong, the Canon is good at f1.2, this one is soft as a pillow wide open.
I want it I used to have a Minolta 50mm F/1.2 MD and miss it
How does this compare to the Voigtländer Nokton 1.4 58mm?
I just paid £50 for one of these guys so I'm very happy. now I just got to go out and use it lol
Would it be the old 50mm F1.4 AI or the newer plastic F1.8G 50mm?
This lens or the voigtlander sl II 58 1.4 ?
How are the 55 f1.2 and 58 f1.2 noct compare
