However if I may suggest this: keep the review to the camera in question solely, in this case the D800 and not the D800E. I i had the dole for D800E I would look for reviews on that camera. But while on the subject of that "other" more expensive camera, can the filter on the D800 be removed?

Has anyone use this camera for weddings? Would you buy this camera if someone were trying to sell it to you for 1300 bucks with only 1110 actuations? I'm getting ready to buy a decent 750 but if this thing handles weddings well I'll just get this one and save me $1000 what do you think?

my sony a6000 has twice as many focus points and double the fps at a fraction of the price, ppl still falling for a brand name, oh and it probably has a sony sensor in it too, how ironic.

Took your advice 6 years ago and purchased a refurbished D800 and I'm still shooting with the D800 today. It's still an amazing camera and if you or someone you know is looking to get into full frame photography I highly recommend the D800 if you need a high megapixel camera.
I have to admit, I see a huge difference between the images and I was actually hoping not to, lol

I cant serious somebody working with a £2,000 camera and doesn't even use a strap to protect his his kit. Ive just completed a 3 yr photographic degree and the first thing we learned was to use the lowest cost item in your bag to save dropping your camera.

Just got a Nikon D800 yesterday with only 4,300 clicks on it. It came with a 24-70 f/2.8. Got both for $1200. I have enough camera gear and really didn’t need it, but I couldn’t pass up the deal. So far, I am LOVING the D800 and might end up making it my main portrait camera.
I thought that I am the only one still shooting D800 in 2021

As I remember it, the D800 was a game changer, as it was the first non-flagship camera that Pros used for studio work, particularly commercial studio work. It was the beginning of the megapixel war.
I got a D800 used, and it is my first full frame and I am loving it!

Bought a D3, and I've never seen such an image quality before from a camera, not even in the newest cameras. This thing has the best colors I've ever seen, the newer cameras may have more megapixels, slightly better noise performance, but these older cameras have something special which can't be replicated in newer cameras.
Stick the 180 f2.8 on it. You'll be picking your jaw up from the floor ;-)

I have one I purchased last year only 24k shutter count at 36mp it's a steal on the market to me!
I’ve been shooting Nikon since the mid seventies, starting with the F series to my current D850. Have owned too many Nikons to list but still have a N2000, N6006, and F5 for film cameras, have owned a D100, D200, and D800E prior to the D850, still have the D200 and D800E, traded the D100 for the D200 (it was never love with the D100 but it was my digital SLR and probably my lack of digital understanding that tainted that body). All still work perfectly, I have never experienced a body or Nikkor lens failure ever and I truly pushed each one of them. The D800E I kept was back up to my primary D800E body so it has a low shutter count, perhaps 8K. The D850 is a superior body in every way (save pop up flash omission) but there’s just something about the D800E that keeps me from selling it, it just feels right and so familiar in the way it reacts; a sweet spot camera when shooting static, well lite subjects. JPEGS are just OK but my goodness the RAW files are delicious! All that said I see lots of hate aimed at Nikon and for the life of this old dude I doesn’t see why, they have been superlative through the years and have never once let me down as a professional and now as an advanced enthusiast. I know the last shutter press God gives me will be on a Nikon body with a fast Nikkor lens attached, probably (hopefully?) the magic 58 1.4. I use the D800, and it does everything I want it to very well. I have excellent phots shot at 6400. You have to have the high ISO filter on, focus has to be smack on, and the exposure has to be right or slightly overexposed, maybe 1/3 stop or so; My go-to lens is the 24-120mm f4 lens. i also have the 14-24 mm. Upscaling the photos to 36x40" works well, but I've not tried larger. I think it'd work. Mine has a just over 100,00 shutter count. If someone wants a pro-level camera at a bargan price, the D800 can be bought used from for $980-$1200, and about $250-300 for the 24-120 f.4 lens. Great deal. A savings of 2,500-$3,00+ for new gear.
I bought a D800e about 6 months ago, but it has / had 110,000 shots on it (too good a price to pass up). I've been worried about shutter failure, but this makes me feel a bit more secure.

And I also got an incredible lot of small oil droplets on my sensot visible when taking a low contrast image like a clear sky and increasing the contrast quite a bit.

So annoyed by this 70MB file malarkey, it's everywhere on the internet! When you use lossless RAW FX, the file size is 41MB, this is the RAW option that everyone uses, unless they're insane! Uncompressed RAW is 74MB, there's no reason to really use that option. Read the D800 brochure if you don't believe me, it's on Nikon's website, that's where I got the file size info. Also I've downloaded a few D800 FX RAW files off some photo sites, they're all around 40MB! Canon uses lossless RAW btw.
