what clear UV filter can I put on here? I don't think the 77mm one will fit
A kit lens is usually about $150 that is why the good deal. The 16-85 is over $500 new. Big difference.
can i used this lens for my d810 full frame camera
FFS... Good review, but it's not Nii-Kon, It's Nick-On
Just bought a used 16-85 in mint condition for $225. Love it.
would you recommend this for beginner Real Estate photography?
Thanks for the review
I've been using this lens for 4 years and absolutely love it ... it's a great walk around lens, perfect for when I travel. This and a light 35mm f/1.8G DX (for low light) and I'm all set.
I just clicked on ur amazon link. Either the price dropped or the link is wrong. This isn't a $700 lense which is good for me.
Dude swag
I love DSLR !
This is now an old lens. How does it compare to the new 16-80 which is much more expensive?
Does this have manual aperture?
autofocus mode me agar hum group me photo lenge to focus kar lega ya nahi
I want this Nikon 16-85 and the Nikon 16-80 to go with my Nikon D5500. I shall also use both lenses on my future Panasonic GH5 via a metabones speed booster
what do you think if compared to 18-140mm? thanks
I had the old 18-70 kit lens before which is said to be an excellent kit lens, and this 16-85 is definitely better. After breaking the 18-70 on solid concrete I had to decide between this one and the pro 17-55 f/2,8... Tried both, said in short: both have similar IQ (I saw hardly a difference in real life) but the 16-85 had much more pleasant zoom range (yes, when walking with the pro lens alone I really missed the 1 mm on the lower end and especially the 30 mm on the upper end). The 17-55 is much heavier, much more expensive and has no VR. The 16-85 has slower aperture but equals this by the VR (yes, I know the limits of VR). For my purposes the 16-85 is the better always-on, of course I have in addition some special lenses for special purposes. No own experience with the newer 16-80 but it is said to sacrifice IQ for sharpness (seems to be the fashion nowadays), has much worse geometry and is much more expensive, at a only slightly better aperture (1/2 stop?)
Love your videos man! Hey check out the CustomSLR hand strap (not wrist strap) for DSLRs on Amazon. I think you would really enjoy it. I have one on my Nikon D5600 and it makes carrying around a DSLR way comfortable and it almost encourages shooting because of the ergonomics. Keep up the good work!
Repent children of Christ, the 2nd coming it's nearer than you think.
Other than that you have not mentioned detailed settings for the photos [if you could add them in the description it would be appreciated — by many, I believe], I cannot see any reason for all 6 dislikes for this video. I liked it! It is informative and the music is nice!
Why isn't this video in 8k 16:9 ????
Hi. What lens is much better if i buy nikon 16-85mm or nikon 24-85mm? Thank you
grate video
can i use this lens on a d3300?
I have a D3300 camera with a 35mm lens and I am currently looking for a travel 'general purpose lens' for distant scenery + Australia's vast wildlife (the 35 will still be used for low light & street photography). Would you recommend this vs Nikon 18-200 vs Sigma 18-250 "macro" vs Tamron alternative vs nikon 18-105mm
So basically you need a Full Frame to shoot at the 'real' 16-85 mm ?
Should I go for the 16-85mm or the new 18-140mm ??
I have a d7100 with a 18-105mm kit lens,, I want to get a new lens... Does the Nikon 16-85mm have better sharpness and image quality compared to 18-105mm???
Hi, I'm new to photography and I am glad I came across your channel. I am having a hard time between this lens and the new Sigma 17-70. I plan to do a little landscape, night photog, architecture, street. Which one would compliment D5100 & Tokina 11-16 for this applicatioin? Thanks. Keep up the good work.
Do I need to turn off the VR feature every time I turn off the camera?
yes l did... and l did hear a lot of people to talk the best abouth this glass... u don't agree with all this?:)
Did you copy this from the review website?
Despite some shortcomings the Nikkor AF-S 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR DX is probably still the best DX standard zoom lens in Nikon mount to date. It is very sharp throughout the range although there could be a little less field curvature (curved focus field) at 16mm. The level of distortions and lateral CAs is comparatively moderate for such a lens (still a bit high in absolute terms
Vignetting is generally well controlled except at 16mm @ f/3.5. The rather slow max. aperture may be a bit unfortunate because the achievable bokeh is rather underdeveloped in conventional scenes. If you're after a (relatively) shallow depth-of-field you should also stick to the 85mm setting - the bokeh is rather harsh at 50mm f/5. The VR II (Vibration Reduction) can help to safe the day in low light situations (at cost of shutter speed) with a "gain" of ~3 f-stops in field conditions.
The build quality is on a good level but don't expect professional grade quality here. All-in-all an obvious choice but not flawless ... which is why I had to agonize a while about the optical rating but I believe that the lens is somewhat more desirable than the AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8G ED although it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges here.
getting this lens on friday! cant wait to make nice videos with my family on my red D3200!
Absolutely. Use it for general purpose on my D7000.
Oh I failed to noticed that. Thanks for correcting me tho.
In fact Ken Rockwell says it is f/3.8 at 18mm, which is not wrong. It's f/3.5 at 16mm.
Thanks. That Ken Rockwell is full of s*it.
