no im sorry bin it .. do your photography a big boost gat the 18-140 . metal mount and much sharper glass .. iv used at least 5 of these lenses and 4 18-140s theyre is a mile of difference ... thats why theyre cheap .. its not that he has a bad one ..(if thats what your thinking ) its the one off someone has a good one ..try any other lens even the old 18-55s are an upgrade from this lens .. i seriously thought my nikon d7200 was crap untill i changed the lens .. it was like having new glasses on .
I find it is sharp even at 1/30 second at 105.
Had this lens around a year now and its incredible. Still portrait video you name it it can do it! You either have no idea what your doing or a bad copy.

This lens is great the negatives you brought up are to be expected for the price. Yeah i agree its not prime sharp but this lens can do so much. Also great for video

I'm a newbie and I love your videos. I don't understand what lens are suitable for what at this stage of my learning, so I wanted to ask you if I would need a 18mm-105mm when I have a 18-55mm and a 55-300mm. I ask this because the 18 and the 105mm's are covered by one or the other lenses. But like I said I really don't know a lot about them at this stage. Your advice is appreciated.

My d7000 with 18-105 vr kit is just amazing... however, even this camera is enough for most of my needs, (not professional, just an average guy who loves dslrs) I just upgraded to D750 with 16-35 f4 vrII superwide. Im not selling my D7000 though as i love it a lot and it served me for so long and i had no prob at all, i just felt like its time to upgrade and the d750 is like, you know like not even comparable, probably the best on the market now, based on how it is and over all performance. but again, d7000 and this 18-105 vr is just fantastic. Btw, nice video...
I have both the 18-55mm VR lens and the 18-105mm VR lens. Both really nice feeling lenses. My only gripe is the weight of the 18-105mm, I use it on my D3200 (which is a relatively light camera body) and when you compare it to the weight of the 18-55mm when attached, it's significantly heavier. You definitely feel it while out on a shoot. I don't see why you can't have both, to be honest.
