I just got mine too a month ago .it's amazing for photo the video sucks so bad but once I learn how to shoot manual and truly stable it won't matter. A Great camera that I'll start hiring weddings with. What is really annoying is how much Nikon limited in software it's basically a Nikon D750 but limited in software . The only close to deal breaker is that it can't shoot 1080p 60fps I hate switching to 720. Outside of that it is nothing short of amazing and once I can learn to truly camera autofocus for video won't matter too much . The only limitation is the bitrate and FPS but I can leave with it I bought it $450 Like new at a bargain here in Nigeria

Would a d610 be as good as a d750 for astrophotography? Do they have the same sensor? I'm torn. I want to upgrade from a crop sensor camera but a D750 is 6 years old now and though I know it's good, that hurts to think I'd shell out 1,500 US for a 6 yr old camera! Ouch! I don't want to get 5 or 6 hundred used D610 is it's not really going to be much better than my D3400 though.

I've been using my D610 since the summer of 2017. I love it! I shoot in the hot and humid conditions of the Florida Keys and it has never failed me. From sunsets to weddings and party's in Key West to Dolphins flying out of the water. With an 85mm Nikkor and a 35mm Sigma art. I cant help but want more however. a D750, 810 or D850? I dont know what to do if I should do anything at all. Love the review!

Before Jan 20, 2020, this was an excellent buy. Now that Nikon's shutter mechanism replacement program is over, there are better options. You also got a new mirror box, cleaning, firmware update and calibration. If you're on a budget, go with Canon. You will have far less issues finding compatible lenses with their basic offerings.

I can confirm that you can use a Nikon D600 for Streaming. (I assume that the D610 will work as well, both are cheaper to get than the other full frames). Didn't turn off after hours and hours of streaming. Use the film live-view and cycle through the "info" button to get rid of all ui-icons. You can still change ISO, focus, etc live. Obviously set the live view to infinite in the settings and use an akku-power adapter and hdmi mini out cable. The Vitesun power adapter costs 20$, a cheap hdmi-usb adapter 12$, the Cam can do 720P@ 60fps and 1080@30fps, which is plenty for streaming.
You say it is above many crop cameras today. But what about other FF cameras? 6D, 5DMK3, D800?

I still have my D600. the shutter was replaced and the photo quality sensor is amazing still today! I see no reason to upgrade the body, just invest in better glass.
I own 2 D610’s. I love shooting with them. I don’t plan on upgrading anytime soon. Only when they don’t work anymore, will I upgrade. To me it’s just not worth it.

If you are buying an old full frame camera, then you must be on a budget. Being on a budget means you should probably also consider the price of lenses. And this is where the Nikon wins over the Sony - it has a lot of cheap old lenses, especially those without AF motor in them.

Got my d610 few months ago on eBay. After some time it freezes randomly. I need to remove the battery, wait some time and try again. Really puzzled by the behaviour.
