The bad thing is there aren't really equivalent lenses for crop systems with fixed maximum aperture all the way through the zoom range.
Can anyone tell me how this compares to the 18-55mm nikon?
So this lens hasn't a angle of 16mm? I want to buy a lens with 16mm.
The 16-35 from Nikon is too expensive, I was thinking to buy the 16-80mm but what does it mean " has the equivalent of 24-120mm? I mean, Is this lens wider then the 18mm??
Made in Thailand.
Much better review and video than most of the other stuff out there.
This is not at all a kit lens!!! Wtf!?!?!?
thanks for the review --- I have been thinking of getting this lens as a lightweight travel option for my D500
hi there, what would you choose between Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR Lens and Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM Lens? I will use the lens for event and occasion's like wedding, birthday, graduation day specially for travel. Thanks in advance
I would rather buy a sigma 8-16 plus the nikkor 18-140 for the same money as that "kitlens"
I bought it with my D500 as a kit lens so I paid $600 for it. It is sharp beyond belief. Just love it. 16mm on low end is great. As is the 2.8. I don’t consider a 2.8 (even though that’s at 16mm only) Nano coated lens a “kit” lens myself.
Great review. I was wondering what's up with your sunglasses? I like seeing the eyes in a video.
Not to bad at all. I like your way of doing it. Seems very honest and light hearted.
I am looking for a Walk Around lens for when I go to Hong Kong. Something that I get wide angle shots as well as zoom in on further away objects.
Any suggestions please really appreciate it?
Edit: I use a Nikon D7500
Its basically an fx 24-120 equivalent...which love.
Hi is it better than 18-140 vr for my d5500?
Friend, can this lens be used on Nikon D7200?
vs the 17-55 2.8 dx ?
i wanna know if this lens is better than the nikkor 17-55 2.8 or not ? thank you very much :D
thanks for video, i have D-5300 can i use this lens in my camera?
i think better nikon 17-55 f2.8 dx..prefer second item, the price cheaper than 16-80
Hi M8, is ir possibile do deactivate he autofocus During filming? I Gate the noise
and the Automatic focus
it is one of the worst lenses Nikon produced
Is it good for seascapes, landscapes ? Plastic mount or metal ?
The 16--80 is sharper than all my fx and dx prime lenes
The reason it's focusing is so damn noisy is because it has plastic gears in the focusing motor/drive. That's partially the difference you get buying a DX lens over an FX lens.I only shoot DX bodies (D500 currently) and only use FX lenses, better quality, faster lenses, sharper usually to the edges on DX bodies.
Нихуя не понял, но очень интересно.
Tbh the chromatic aberration correction isnt the best
Hi there, If you're going to choose between this two lenses. What would you choose, Sigma 17-70 mm F/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM Lens Or Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR Lens? I' am planning to use the lens that I'am going to buy for travel, birthday party's wedding etc.. I hope that you can help me to choose what is the right/correct lens for me, by the way I've been using Nikon d5600. Thanks in advance, god bless
Use with D7200 with amazing results. Dare i say its strong point maintains with some FF primes ive used. Its that good for me. Either my copy is that good, or my primes have issues. Try yourself. I recommend to every DX owner wanting one lens for vacation. No lose in quality, its killer. Can be had for sub $600.
anyone else tired of these photography videos with just some guy hanging out in a room playing with his expensive toy, NOT doing any freaking photography?....like, dude.....what is your experience shooting in the real world?....have you ever actually taken it out at all? To anyone watching this video....if you just need to do some home videos and snaps some pics of your kids or whatever.....use your smartphone....
I used to get bored when looking at gear review, then I watched this one. :)
I own this lens and it's my favourite on my DX bodies.
I'm using the 16-80 on a d500 and I love it !!!. I've bought my16-80 at USD$ 600 on E-bay.
can I have this setup please. I'm a poor boy with a dream.
What's the crop factor making 4K videos? I know that it's 2.25x using any FX lens, but I want to know what happens when I use a DX lens on the D500. Thanks.
Which i buy for wedding photography 16 80 nikon or 24 70 nikon
Does is the les focusing speed good or bad? I have read people complaining about it, or maybe they expect too much.
Does the front element rotate as you zoom/focus? I’m planning to use some filters and this could be the deal breaker for me~
great video btw
Excellent lens but why do you not use the lens hood
Great Video , I’m thinking of getting this lens over the 18/140 , the lower stop ( 2.8 over 3.5 ) to me is more important than the loss of the focal length . Thoughts ?
Awesome city, wonderful people.
No.1 16,800mm lens
planning to buy it
Lots of video but no photographs. (???)
May i kindly enquire what camera body is Raymund is using?
I find it confusing when the film is made with many lenses and only the stills are of the lens I came here to see. I understand fully why this has been done and think it is a better film for this reason.
However there are two important difficulties and areas of confusion.
a) in my head and entirely subconsciously I then see that this lens is taking beautiful shots...but ARE THEY with this lens!!??
and b) the stills...are they stills or where the movie has just zoomed in for a moment with a different lens!...
It might be a good idea, (although it slightly disturbs the beauty and flow of the film) to just add in the corner at the top which shots are taken with the lens he is talking about and filming!..
What do you think?
filmed using a canon
in 1st grade, these photos make
Very good video - BUT, I just cannot understand a professional photograpker going out in the midday sun and shoot WITHOUT the lens-hood / sun-visor on the lens!!! You MUST be loosing precious contrast by sun-flares onto the front element by doing so. The lens-hood is there for a purpose.Best regards from Norway!:-)
If I were looking for a showcase of Hong Kong this would be a neat, useful video.
As a review about the actual 16-80 lens, the contents is very poor.
If you guys at Nikon will show a video featuring a lens, then the video HAS TO BE SHOT with that particular lens!!!! What's the point of filming with another Nikkor lenses??? Customers can understand that the video capabilities of the 16-80mm f/2.8 are being demeaned.
What's up, my Nikkor?
This video was filmed on the lens?
And then the epic music plays from Radical Face...I will retire my 18-140 lens so I can get this lens...first I'll rent it, hope it fills up the expectation.
I got this lens as part of the D500 kit. I also watched Ken's video. My issue with Ken's argument is that he didn't speak to the quality of images taken with the 16-80MM. Ok, so the body is made with plastic and it uses plastic mechanical parts; no argument there. But, what about the glass elements? You know, the thing that allows photography to take place. It's the first (and only) DX lens with Nano-crystal coating (yeah I know, Ken's all like "you can't tell the difference between photos taken with nano coating!" That's right...unless you take pictures of direct sun light, then you CAN tell.)
I consider that Nikon gave the lens its coveted "gold ring" denoting that it is a pro-level lens. I hardly think Nikon would call an inferior lens a pro-level lens and I certainly don't think Nikon would bundle a crappy lens along side their flagship DX camera.
Now, I also have the 17-55MM Nikkor he compared this lens to. It's a good lens, but what he doesn't mention is that this lens was designed to focus it's details onto a 7 megapixel sensor, which was what was available back when it was made (wow, the use of 'was' three times!). The 16-80MM is designed to project details onto a 21 megapixel and above sensor.
I really wish Ken would provide or discuss quality of image between these lenses, but I finally understand why he does not. Ken has amassed a lot of technical knowledge about digital cameras and lenses, but unfortunately, none of that has translated to skill in taking photos. If you want to see what sort of photographic skills Ken has, look at some of his examples using an insanely expensive setup:
Beautiful locations and pictures ماشااللہ۔ can i follow your work?
Very nice set of images, an enjoyable tour.
Some very nice landscape shots
Nice video🥰 should i buy a nikon d500 with this lens?
Nice shots! Which camera did you use with this lens?
Some excellent shots there!
