Is AF really needed if its DOF at f/8 goes from 0,5 m to ∞?

I'll probably get the 10.5 as I still have one crop sensor ( D500} camera and I see I could use the 16mm with my Z6 and FTZ without issue. Looks like you video was shot in Florida's west coast. 3:45 should the filter be placed all the time? is it only colours filters? I just bought the lens while comparing to 8-15mm. I had already 10.5mm. I wanted to find away to fit polarizer filter to this one but not sure
