I wasted a lot of time trying to get a NETGEAR ROUTER to work. It turned out that the issue was a non compatible issue. Neither of the two Netgear Routers I purchased would work, my first purchase was a Netgear16 AC1750 and then a Netgear17 AC 1900. Neither one would work with my Spectrum Cisco DPC 3216 Modem. My third and last purchase was a LINKSYS WRT 1900AC and that worked just fine and was easy to install and config. BTW I found the Linksys 1900 AC at Sams. The following stores did not have any Linksys in stock: Best Buy, Staples and Costco ... but they had a lot of non-compatible Netgear Routers :-/

Pease of S×× netgear router waited a week to get it shipped from factory and then spent a whole day trying to get to work. Called tech support and they couldn't get to work. Sending it back to net gear. Went to walmart and got a $29.00 linksys N600 and it only took a few minutes to set up and is working great. No more netgear for us. Very disappointed in netgear.

At 2:40, he states that it cannot work as a bridge, then at 5:58 he states that it can. Seems to me they don't know what it can or cannot do for sure. There might be slight differences in what he's meaning but before I spend $100 or better on a router, I want solid info.

Is the R7000 actually that much better than the R6900v2? My experience with the R6900v2 has not been good, to say the least! I pay for 300Mbs from ISP and have buffering issues and speeds of 70Mbs, at best, to wireless devices. Netgear has been absolutely no help at all. After multiple complaint to my ISP and several service calls, it appears the problem is with the router! Now too late to return.

How to set it up
This router has been excellent for us so far. 2 floor brick house w/basement. Built in 1902. Router on top floor at North end, great wifi signal even in furthest reaches of basement and backyard. Note, new R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.110 for it as of 9/30/2020. Always good to keep your firmware current as a way of combatting security exploits, etc. Overall perfect router for us. Love the Netgear app too for remote management.

I have the same WiFi router... I kinda regret it. I couldn’t get access to Netflix and amazon using TV (Panasonic), MacBook Air and iPad... I can only connect to Netflix using iPhone X, without a issue. I read posts on forum, some people said that once I changed the MTU settings from 1500 to 1400, the problem should be fixed. But It didn’t. Does anyone know how to fix it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey, just thought I'd drop by and say I have this router, it was an upgrade to a 2013 Airport Extreme (which still works). The Nighthawk has worked very well, however, I have replaced the stock NetGear firmware with DD-WRT (an alternative open firmware) because the latest Netgear firmware has become very buggy for one, and also adds enterprise style functionality, which is nice to have. it depends on what people want, and are able to understand when configuring a network. For me: the R7000 hardware+DD-WRT has proven to be a solid solution. If I buy another router at some point, I may go with Asus, they look really nice from a hardware / firmware combination. My apartment is only 877 Square ft, so I am sure this is over kill, but I haven't had any dead spots to report.

My R7000 maxes out at 9.78Mbps download (Wired & Wireless). Tried multiple factory resets, firmware rollback, nothing helps. It got 750+ Mbps right out of the box and I too, thought it was a good router. Now it's going back to the store where I bought it or I will smash it with a hammer...haven't decided yet.
had that model for 4 years, had to upgrade when i got gigabit. could not get that thing over 350mbs

This product is a piece of crap. I had been using this router for four months. It has wi-fi connection issues, and link repeatedly drop packages. Even after updating with latest firmware it does not solve this issue. Apparently this unit does not get tested properly and its firmware releases are B.S. DO NOT waste your money with this sh*t...

My AT&T Fast Access DSL Ultra is 1.5mbps download and only .30 upload speed and unfortunately that is with no modem. The nighthawk ac1900 R7000 is my DSL modem and WiFi router in one. I have called AT@T and had my phone line replaced from house to pole. They claim that I am getting the speed I’m paying for. Which is 1.5 mbps but damn! It costs over $100 a month for this shitty DSL and there’s no other isp for this area other than satellite isp like Hughes net or viasat. I think it is time to just cancel and pay the 65 a month for unlimited 4g speed and while I’m at it, drop home phone and directv too since those are also over 120 each. I’ll save money getting directv thru viasat for and extra 35 a month. And if I want a home phone it’s another 20 a month. That’s still hundreds cheaper for two landlines dsl fax directv two mobile lines. Shit everything is going to be month by month before long. Nobody’s going to keep getting deeply and rapidly penetrated by these isp’s and contract plans much longer. Mark my words.
