Most pathetic router I have bought for $250+. It is advertised as 800 Mbps and 1300 Mbps for the 2.4g and both 5g bands respectively. I have a 1000 Mbps plan and I barely get 20 Mbps on the 2.4g and around 320 Mbps on the 5g bands. Also the 5g band won’t show up on my laptop and won’t connect to the phones of the other people in my house. Only my phone connects to the 5g network. I’ve tried everything and nothing works. Idk why the reviews for this router are so good. I am extremely bemused and disappointed.

What's is your internet connection speed??! Besides the MS, unless you say how fast it is suppose to go, the speeds you showed us is completely usless. You have to tell us how many % you get out of your ISP connection on Wifi.... If your connection was 1gbps, and you get 200mbps on wifi its only 20%, that sucks. But if you got 200mpbs connection it would be 100%.. Id you forget about that??? How about signal performance and air obsticles like walls etc.... dude....why did they even give you this shit when you gave us the user manual....

Beware: the latest nighthawk firmware just kills the router both X6 and X6S. I have 300mbps connection and after FW update it crawled to 20mbps replaces with the X6S and while speeds are still okay 200 mbps plus, the availability of the router itself is dicey. Within a week 5 times it has been rebooted.
This is a 3 year old router and it's still on wally world's shelves...
Drops WIRED ethernet connection to internet without explanation, but Windows will tell you you're still connected. Out of 300 plus reviews on Costco's website, over 50 of them are negative and mention this same issue. When it is working, it is fast and has great wifi range. Returned to Costco. Heads up- Costco's site does NOT allow you to update a review you've posted. It also will not allow you to add a new review, so you only get one shot at it, so take adequate time with the item before posting a review.
Mine is dead in less than 2 months. I bought it during Black Friday (2017) at Best Buy. I don't recommend it at full price neither at 50% price.

I returned mine after a month, it kept dropping the 5ghz channels and I wasn't able to update the firmware, when I called NETGEAR on it they stated they had firmware issues with this model and we were set to do an exchange then I realized that you need to pay for a rapid turnaround, if you don't pay for quick shipping then you will need to wait until regular mail gets it there and back leaving you "without a router" luckily I had purchased it at Best Buy with the Geek Squad protection and I exchanged it the same day like I said it had been about a month, within two weeks I would not have to use the GS protection.

do not get this router, it's an absolute piece of shit! lasts less than a year for over three hundred dollars! Mine died exactly 11 months after i bought it new, and netgear refused to honor any warrantee, told me i was on my own. The culprit? I restarted the piece of shit. You can't restart a nighthawk, itll break the device.
If the power adapter is not rated for 240v DO NOT USE IT ON A 240v circuit, as you may damage the power adapter, the device or both.

I just installed this router and am experiencing quick fall off just 11 meters away. I live in a single level apartment. Is there anything I can do? I replaced an AirPort Extreme thinking it was outdated but it supplied signal to my security camera devices at the front and rear of my apartment. This router isn't even reaching the security cameras.
My honest review on this product is that its awesome because it gives a solid 100-150 mbps to my bedroom and from my living room 200-300 mbps. Tho I wish that I could get the 200-300 mbps to my bedroom but it won’t reach that far.

Easiest description. Is it good? Yes. Is it necessary? Unless you’re running a gaming cafe or something Probably not. These are not bugged anymore, netgear has upgraded their user interfaces to make them a lot more beginner friendly, and they’re still as capable as ever. Had this router for nearly 3 years until, all of a sudden, the Ethernet port for internet and the port 3 stopped functioning. On top of that the reset button didn’t seem to do anything and the LED on/off switch wasn’t working either. I can’t figure out what has happened or how to fix it. I loved this router and it performed very well while in service. If anyone has suggestions. PLEASE HELP!

I've tested my connection with the antennas straight up and opened all the way. They tell you that you get better coverage with the antennas straight up but I've found I get this result - straight up 100 feet from router 500mbps opened fully 545mbps.

Great router but your new nighthawk app in 2019 June and links to Circle Disney for parental controls for only £45/year, yes I know every one self gives parental controllers for free, but we want to screw as much money out of you as we can.
Pretty useless device, don't waste your time and just get AC1900 dual band because you won't get any faster speed with this but supposedly will handle more devices better. I have no problem with just dual band AC1900 connecting two phones, two rokus, one computer, 1 tablet, and two tvs. Everything is fast.
Where in the house is the best place to put this thing. I have it in my basement sitting on top of a duct work. I get good signal but I start to lose it just outside my house and I thought it would be fine out there.
