My flash controls doesnt want to open it keep saying flash is not on or something attached even if there’s nothing attached Alsoo my pictures are coming out half light (the photo) and upper half is completely black Any help?
Amazon had this on deal of the day for $24. My girlfriend kinda likes it for her Sony a6000. If you want a little better quality/options, get the Godox TT350. The Godox line of flashes are great and work together.

I was able to get 4 of these flashes as over stock for about $20 a piece and I love them for studio work off camera using a flash meter. In slave mode I use them in soft boxes and 60 inch umbrellas no problem. The only time I'll put it on my camera is to trigger the other units. I'm retired and photography is my passion. I'm also cheap as hell and I buy everything used. For you I would recommend getting an old (like me) auto flash unit like a Vivitar 285HV or a Nikon SB28 (Yes I said Nikon and I know you have Canon) Auto flash has a flash output sensor in the flash that will quench the flash when the correct amount of light is reached. Look into auto flash. It's an old technology that still works and is very accurate. You set the sync speed, desired ISO, and the aperture on the camera then the aperture on the flash. Now you're all set. No more test shots for the correct exposure. The Vivitar 285HV was the life blood for wedding photographers for decades because it works.

I took two, flashlight like this and none of them is working. Could someone explain me why or how they solved this issue. I have the lights on on the camera, i can swap between the modes but for test and stuff is not flashibg just.

It's great, the only issue I had with this is that it only works lower than 1/320 shutter speed. If you put it up to 1/400 it puts like a line of darkness in the pic, like it isn't too quick as the camera (mine is Nikon D5600).
The S modes aren’t quite what you believed then to be. They are optical “slave” modes, which make the TT 560 fire when it sees another flash fire. S1 is basic and fires in sync with the first flash that it sees. S2 ignores a pre-flash, such as the one that your pop-up flash fires for TTL by default. More simply, S2 fires every OTHER time it sees a flash.

S1 and S2 are off-camera “slave” modes which fire the flash when it sees another flash fire. S1 is if you have an on-camera or pop-up flash which will Fire only once. S2 is if your on-camera or pop-up is in TTL mode (default on most cameras) so the TT560 will ignore the pre-flash and Fire only on the second flash.
Well, this answered my questions in a very roundabout way. M-Manual, S1, S2 are variations on slave flash (does NOT have to do with the curtains but the PRE-flash) and M (manual mode) does not mean you need to be mounted to the camera. it's just manual mode (in other words, the flash will not be triggered by the firing of another flash) M is where you'll want to work you just need a radio trigger for the hotshoe. Anyway, for anyone who understands how a speedlight works this review (sort of) answers any questions you might have, in it's own way. LOL
S1-2 are slave modes. Basically you can put the speedlight somewhere else in the room and it will detect when your crappy camera flash fires and it will fire at the same time. It's a pretty useful feature, honestly. Not buying this particular model cause I need it to be TTL, but great review nevertheless!
Yes, a manual flash just takes a “fire” signal from almost every brand hot shoe, which is why this kind of flash will work with just about any camera. The S1/S2 thing is not about rear curtain. The S1 fires when it sees another flash fire. The S2 is for instances where the pop-up or camera mounted flash is set for TTL, and the slave flash ignores the pre-flash, firing on the second (full) flash.
