I have this baby and it Rocks!!! all my friends who always had better laptops the me till I got this thing can't believe how fast it boots up, downloads video from USB...yes it was $2,000, But won't have to buy another laptop for many years to come and I can upgrade it to make it even faster!!It is big, and heavy, but it only reminds my of its Power and its built quality!!

So in your other review of the same laptop, running ic diamond, it has higher temperature readings than in this video. What has changed? Is this one running with stock thermalcompound? If so, it would indicate that the stock is thermal compound is pretty awesome.
You should do another sound reading from a user's normal listening experience. A reading from one inch away from the exhaust is not particularly useful. Aside from that, very thorough, thumbs up!
The keyboard cloth is not for cleaning - it is for preventing rub (abrasion) marks on the screen from the keyboard that can result from transporting the unit with the lid closed...
what about the battery can this laptop be run on direct power supply and without battery to save the life of the battery ?
A year later and it has gen 5 Intel, IPS panel and GSync. What a fantastic laptop, just improving every moment. Don't blink.

I am struggling whether to go with the i7 5700 broadwell w 980m 4gb or the new 6820hk w 970 gtx 3gb. all else between the 2 is the same, I will install a pair of Kingston 240 pcie2.0 x4 ahci pcie ssd in raid 0. the 980m Gladwell costs a bit more wondering if I should go 5th gen vs 6th skylake for the better gpu?

I'm trying to decide between this and the new g752 with identical specs. On Amazon the MSI is slightly cheaper with higher hdd capacity and Bluetooth. However, I notice this has vents on the bottom. the Asus has vents on the back which allows use on softsurfaces without burning up. i have used ASUS for the last 10 years so I am reluctant to change. Plus the Asus looks so much more awesome. Any thoughts? Particularly about the vents at the bottom. Also, I heard the new ASUS takes a whole 1 minute to boot up. How is the MSI boot up speed?
What's the difference between the HDMI port and the Mini Display Port? Would I be able to use a 2k display monitor?
Was that battery life time of 3 and change hours with the discrete graphics card? If so have you tested the results with Intel integrated graphics for browsing and productivity?
Question: Those front accent lights, can you turn those off separately while having the keyboard lighting on? or can a person at least just turn them both off if they wanted? how much options do you get with all those lights and what you can have off and on? They look cool, but from a practical standpoint, you wouldnt want all those lights beaming on you while watching a movie on it.

Nice review man yeah im looking in to buying one of these. I see n the msi gt80 they have the mecanical keyboard for gaming but i prefer the standard ones. But its got crazy specs on it, will last along time.

I have an MSI GT70 DOMINATOR (GTX 970M) from 2014 that is my daily driver. This machine was basically future-proof and is still a beast! I love it! The problem is that the drivers are outdated for some things. With each Windows 10 update, something has been broken. Now my color backlights don't work anymore for my keyboard. I have gone to MSI's website and emailed MSI, but they just refer me back to the website where the drivers and firmware are only for Windows 8.1. Does anyone know what I can do to get updated drivers for this machine? Thanks
Wow cool to see my model of laptop though the only thing hardware I had to change out last weekend was the WiFi card. Went with an Intel 7260
i got scammed out of $1600 trying to buy a hp omen off some idiot but it gave me time to do some research and i ended up getting this instead and oh my god how happy i am. This thing is an absolute beast. And it absolutely munches the omen too. The scam was an expensive blessing in disguise lol i love this laptop best purchase i ever made

I just bought it and just the left one glows but when i turn on steel series settings then both front LED lights glows and still the left one has little extra white light

on the bottom panel, central scew there is a label saying if you remove it you void your warranty! So MSI does not even let us to upgrade the RAM/HDD? This doesn't make any sense, can you please verify?

Bro I have the GT72S Dominator PRO G... I use it everyday and I have an Asus x555L that the battery went out and the screen(so slow). I fixed and fabricated better the Asus,(my girl's laptop)super thin and light factor) but man I LOVE MY MSI power house because it runs like HONDA.. IT has not gave me problems unlike the Asus..TOP QUALITY stuff, especially, if you case anything

Ive got this laptop best pc Ive own so far.
ok 3000 euros or more but for what ?What about its reliability, I'm not interested to gaming rather than durability over then 10 years could be enough.If I just think to what kind of bad faulty products are builded nowadays just able to pollute our world while we have to be green everyday, I have no reason or better to say I'm afraid to buy this computer and waste my money.Even the very old notebook were able to works everyday without any problem for over 10 years included a single session for over 6 months 24/7 that it was always online.

I could get a great deal on a msi-gt72-6qe-033us-dominator. There's a gtx 980m inside of it. If I want to upgrade to a 1070m in 1 year could I do it easily by myself or do I need to go to the store where I bought it from to get them make the change for me? I have this same laptop had it for like 4 month and I absolutely love it plays every game I want in ultra settings I have no problems with the heating I am having a little issues with my killer Wi-Fi disconnecting on me every once in awhile but other than that I recommend this laptop to anybody that is looking for a good gaming rig
