I bought this notebook off your recommendation. I can tell/report to you that the trackpad/touchpad is absolute crap on mine. When I go to make really fine movements, it is a chatterfest for the last 1mm of travel. Not accurate at all. I even had to find a Microsoft precision driver for it as it didn't come with one pre-installed. And the screen on mine adjusts its luminosity all the time. I don't understand why. Everything else about it is great. I got this for what I believe is a great deal for $1300.00 (new) though and for the power it brings to the table, I'm almost satisfied only because the touchpad is such a huge experience when using a notebook.

Drew. I bought this laptop 3 days ago. But now I'm seeing bad reviews such as overheating and cpu throttling. They say this laptop reaches 90-95 degrees when gaming. My dad bought this as a gift. Now I don't wanna disappoint him
MSI build quality is terrible the hinges are glued and not fastened the key caps fall off all of these happened to me within 6 months of average use
Why not add better battery life instead of using all that space for speakers

i dont think that the processor is what raises the price, the difference between the i7 7700 and the i7 8750 is 20$, the main difference comes from the gpu. but also companies like to scam people and make people think that the price raise is also because of the processor upgrade.

I bought this laptop in 2017 for school and because of it I will NEVER buy from MSI again, my first laptops motherboard just straight up died, so they gave me a second one but the USB ports are inconsistent and wont work randomly for no reason, my drawing tablet REFUSES to work with my laptop unless I plug in a USB 3.0 hub which somehow makes connections more consistent. Oh and lets not forget about how AWFUL the hinges for the screen are, they have broken TWICE and have been replaced and EVEN THEN they are starting to break on my laptop now. I've brought this laptop in for repairs three times (four if you count the first one they gave me) but It's obvious that MSI uses cheap and defective parts, the MSI laptop brand was probably the second most popular in my class and EVERY SINGLE PERSON that bought an MSI laptop had issues that eventually crippled their system, by comparison the people who bought ASUS laptops had no issues, only one person had an ASUS laptop die on them and it was because they spilled coffee on it. The bottom line is MSI does not care about their customers and have consistently given people defective, garbage products. NEVER BUY FROM MSI!
After 1 year of owning this laptop with almost completely identical specs I must say it still runs well. However mine came with only 8gb of ram (which i upgraded to 16 in no time). And a 3tb HDD instead of a SSD. Otherwise it's the same. My only issue is the HDD is starting to crap out already because Win 10 loves to destroy mechanical drives. Otherwise modern games are still ran at max settings with good fps (60+). I get fps spike drops because of my HDD so definitely getting a SSD soon.

Is it a GTX 1070 full sized or a 1070 Max-Q?
Many people including me have issues with killer wi-fi adapter. It has horrible spikes therefore unuseable for gaming, it disconnects you from games all the time! If you know how to fix this please let me know I have searched like everywhere but no one provided working solution.

After more than one year of owning this laptop I must say that it is hard to tell if it was a good decision to purchase this specific model. There are two major problems: The weak hinges and the keyboard. Both of my hinges broke (common problem with MSI laptops) and I needed to repair them with epoxy glue. The keyboard keys are very sensitive. If you press them too hard there is a chance that a key "breaks off" and it simply is impossible to put it back in. Some people in the MSI forum also reported these two problems. There are other minor problems but they're probably not worth mentioning. Nonetheless the performance and stability is great and I hope it won't change too soon. PS: It seems that MSI changed the hinge design on their newest models.

it's been 1 year and 5 months having this laptop and l surely say that it started having really bad thermal issues that cause lower fps and my hands are getting burned secondly rgb lights have gone nuts
All components is integrated in motherboard so msi don't want you can baying better graphic card. Also cpu is integrated wtf
No is not I baying last year msi ge63 with gtx 1060 6GB now is laptop worth 500£ I was paying 1450£ so not baying laptop if you like playing new games. Because you will be surprised.
I really like this but why are they running so hot? Would it be a better choice to downgrade the specs and go for the i7-7700hq and 1060? Perhaps, just stick with the good specs and redo the thermal paste? The cooling looks like it should work awesome. Plenty of heatpipes and fans.

I have this laptop but currently looking for a 'messenger bag' to carry it. The 17.3 inch doesn't fit in a traditional 17.3 bag for some reason. I'm running Debian Buster on this laptop as my main OS for working, gaming (the few games I have for Linux are running pretty well on the graphics card) and general stuff. So, when I'm working, I got a lot of open windows, browser, Spotify, Emacs, Nautilus, PDF reader, terminal. the temperature stays most of the time below or around 50C, and the fans are very quiet. In fact, most of the time I think that the noisiest thing in this laptop is the HDD. Then, when I reboot to use Windows, and it's always hotter than that. Sometimes, for no apparent reason (of course there are hidden background processes running), the temperature rises and the fans start screaming out loud. Obviously, if this occurred while I'm gaming (that is why we have Windows, right?), it would be completely normal, but this happens when the system is idle, no heavy process running. However, I have this same behavior pattern on my desktop. So I think the heating it's more like a Windows bloating problem combined with the fact that the processor has six cores with a relatively high clock for such a thin laptop. Besides that, from my experience running some heavy process on Linux (where I can easily manage the CPU overclock), once the process ends, the temperature drops pretty fast, which means the heatsink is quite efficient. And on Debian, if you plug the mouse, the trackpad is automatically disabled. I thought that that occurred on Windows too.

still no thunderbolt 3 but i see that msi has that part separate so it is possible for Msi to add thuderbolt controller to that board. but definitely not the time to buy this laptop just yet. wait for may be next gen nvidia and with some thunderbolt 3 upgrade option first
