I dont know why they saying the lipstick could lasting up to 12hours, i eat and drink , the lipstick gone already. This is just my opinion since i've been using this lipstick too.
I doesn’t even last 24 hours and when you eat or drink the lipstick disappears and it all gets smudged over your whole mouth. It also is really hard to apply so it doesn’t come outside your lips. I does only last if you are not eating or drinking. I would not recommend this lipstick.
I have used this type of lipstick the last 15 years. The lipgloss stinks badly like old oil but I have tolerate it because the lip-creme need something to soften it up. I have always used caffeionate ? color and I put the color on a cotton pin and put it on my lips. Now I have been allergic to the lipgloss and my lips are almost open wounds with a thin layer of silky skin that hurts very much and make me in great pain if I want to smile. Several people have told me that both the lipgloss and the lipstick can give a serious illness on your lips and the surrounding area. I can tell you that it is almost unbearable to se my lips in such a condition with bloodstains and exuding skin that stings and burn. Now I can only wear Elizabeth Arden`s eight hour creme. It stinks of tar, but helps and heal my lips so that I hopefully can smile in a month or two.
the lipgloss stinks, i know XD. That's why i put the 24 stay maybelline gloss on after the lipstick..

I have been using long wearing lip color and top coats almost since they first came out and I find they do last a long time. Not 12 hours, more like 6-8, & sometimes I will touch up the color at the end of the day w regular lipstick. The key to these products is to make sure you prep the lips and allow the product to get really dry and set prior to applying the topcoat. I think of it as more of a "stain" too, that is an excellent analogy, and without the topcoat the lips are too dry.  I exfoliate my lips, use light dusting of my powder foundation over my lips and a lipliner prior to applying the color. After the color sets, I dust my lips with my finishing powder and then apply topcoat. The topcoat wears off quickly and you need to reapply. I go through topcoat 3-4 times faster than the color, using other things as topcoat, like glosses often seems to break down the color too fast. I have to search to buy topcoat alone to buy. I get tons of compliments on my lips, I am often told the color looks very natural. Overall it was a life changing product for me, no more putting on lipstick all day, it just takes some trial and error to figure out how it best works.

when its compared t other drugstore products its really expensive but right now im wearing the color 180 for 2 hours, it looks really nice and feel like its gonna stay there :)

I have this lipstick and I hate it. Doesn’t feel nice it’s as you said cracking and peeling off.
Also without oil food , is not long lasting?
