By the way, I found out that this particular model is the MT190GOA4TD. I read that the current model of the Manfrotto 190Go series (MT190GOA4US and MT190GOA4) has changed the spacer part from a plastic shim to a plastic locking ring (they seems a little more robust). This might explain Alex Popov's comment about his tripod not having those shims. The MT190GOA4TB (released in 2014) also uses plastic shims as spacers. This is what the plastic locking rings look like: I'm actually deciding whether or not to buy the Manfrotto MT190GOA4US or the Sirui AM-284 as a tripod.
Surprised that Manfrotto uses that cheap quality. Thanks for letting us know. I want be buying this one. I have a Manfrotto tripod but not this model. I've had no problems with my current Manfrotto and it's 12 years old.
I've had this tripod for 5 years - not once have I had an issues with any of the twist locks or these 'shims'!
Can't understand the 'hate' on the comments. the guy on the video openly admits he is not gentle with his gear, and he shouldn't. As long as you don't do stupid stuff or abuse your gear, you shouldn't need to be gentle - companies should instead build good quality stuff, and not sell cheap rubbish that breaks after a short while.
I got the manfrotto befree It feels really sturdy but just like you've highlighted, it's got this very annoying quirk to it - PLASTIC. Unlike you, I am very gentle with my stuff yet I see the weight bearing hook which is made of plastic is already cracking Just got this tripod a week ago and for that part that's meant to bear some load to start cracking, I knew there was something not right I ordered the Sirui and noticed the difference all metal and aluminum. You sure made the right choice to get Sirui. The down voters are prolly manfrotto shills

I agree. You do not even have to use it harshly to break those shims. I bought this tripod and within a year of moderate use, one leg just didn't feel sturdy and was occasionally mildly loose. On a photo shoot one day, as I extracted the legs of the tripod, one section fell completely off along with broken fragments of this shim. I ordered replacement shims, fixed it and set in my closet. Then bought a different tripod.

You'r right Every cheap tripod has this problem. Even my one also it's from Phroton. It just broke after hardly 10 days of usage
