Very useful, need help finding the right size shims for my axial 6x6 umg if anyone can help?
is it normal for the pinion gear to move back and forth slightly? i assume u need some play in it otherwise it would bind if u added shims?

U must be a bad driver how u strip your plastic diff spur and your pinion gear
Hello mate. For the looks of your worn gears, your gear mess was too also can worn your motor very fast putting strain on its ball bearings. A good gear mess would be around 0.3mm of gap between messing teeth and the motion should be almost silent. Brush pinion is soft and wear out quickly while plastic spur gear has the ability to work smooth like it is self lubricated thus it doesn't need grease. In fact, most of the greases attack plastic make them soft and turn them to paste. Metal spur is only good for slow speeds as they can handle high torque better and inertia and motor strength is not a problem. Also small difference in gear teeth has big effect in speed of the car. So expect your car to be significantly slower with 3-4 less pinion gear teeth. Too big of a gear and you are asking too much from the motor which is going to overheat. You need to experiment with gears to find the sweet spot of your current motor and ESC system which means keep the speed high and the temperatures low. Have fun with your great car as I do.

Lithium,most spray on, graphite , ceramic silicon lube, shouldn’t be used around plastic part ! Use castor oil(or better known as huile de ricin in French) usually avail in pharmacy! this way your plastic will last long enough to win !
also if you need to sand paper ? 2000 is the only sand paper you should have at the track ! at home ? You do you ! But at the track best sandpaper is 2000 ! Prevent from making uncorrectable mistake!
If i was buying a diff, are the rear and front both compatible?
Once you know how much to shim, put the same amount of shims behind the bearing, much easier to install the diff, especially if there are a couple of shims on one side ;-)
