Could This Be My New Laptop? - ThinkPad X390 Review
He is the only guy I've seen who actually uses the trackpoint.
Need to buy a laptop for my granddaughter for x mas running a Budget of around 1200 `1400 was looking at this model in Canadah but price isa lot different says 3600 minus down to 1076.00 so it looks good except price kinda wacked
wish the processor and memory wasn't soldered in.
Literally had to watch so many reviews just to see someone using the touchscreen! It’s so important to see how responsive it is in real time. Thank you
One of the best reviews You answered every one of my questions. Thank you for this video!
I am thinking of getting a Thinkpad to replace my aging 2009 Macbook Pro. Thinkpads seem to be tough hardware that is enjoyable to use, which really appeals to me. Is there a similarly priced Thinkpad (or other durable computer) to use as an everyday-use laptop and a little light gaming (minecraft, chivalry, subnautica)? I am just overwhelmed after using the same laptop for so long, which I loved, but it is starting to have some issues. This video was great so I appreciate your opinion.
    I just ordered one X390. (convert to USD about 1,194) ThinkPad X390 Configuration Details ● Processor: Intel Core i7-10510U Processor ( 1.80GHz 8MB ) ● Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64 ● Display Type: 13.3"FHD IPS AntiGlare LED Backlight 1920x1080 ● Memory: 8.0GB DDR4-2666 DDR4 Onboard 2666MHz ● Hard Drive: 512GB SSD PCIe ● Warranty: One year Carry-in ● AC Adapter: 65W ● Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics ● Battery: 6 Cell Li-Polymer ● Camera: IR&HD Camera with Shutter & Mic ● Fingerprint Reader: Fingerprint Reader ● Keyboard: 6-row Backlit English (US) ● Pointing Device: ClickPad ● Wireless: Intel Wireless-AC 9560 2x2 AC+BT5.0 3Y Premier Support.
    No 12" inch?
Mine is using the 45W adapter and somehow the laptop keeps draining even though it is plugged in when the Charging Threshold is turned on. Have changed every single component and in the laptop but its still the same. Any idea why?
There is just nothing better than a ThinkPad
i watch this on june 02, 2020 black tuesday lol
    Nice Mtech. :D
I watched a lot of reviews about the X390 before I bought it, and after watching your video I decided and didn't regret it.
When you start up the computer what key do you hit to get into the BIOS? Great video thank you.
    The yoga version of it?
i hope they send you x395
    cool thing
Love the review! Very comprehensive and easy to understand. Bravo
    X390 or x390 yoga ? Why ? I’m a dummy ,plz help
I was wondering if it could be posible to install a sata drive instead of an NVMe so that you can free 2x lanes of PCIe and then they become available for usage on your thunderbold 3 port having four in total instead of the two mentioned on the video. However I am not sure if this is possible. If so I would strongly consider buying this laptop.
The body is metal or plastic?
Thanks! I'm going to get this and do "exciting things I don't want other people to see" ;)
I paid 699.99 brand new on sale on ebay. Not bad yeah?
You look like Leslie from The Big Bang Theory
Great review! What pen is compatible with the FHD touch screen? Can anyone give recommendations? I don't think the x390 yoga pen is necessarily compatible?
Hi Lisa, Thank you for the excellent review. I currently have this machine issued to me by my company and overall its an excellent machine just as mentioned in your review. However, there is one niggling issue that has come up. When the Charge Threshold mode is activated (55-60%), if the laptop is being pushed on running high intensity tasks / benchmarks, I noticed on my machine that is there a draw down on the battery power. A simple test I did was to charge the laptop to full (100%) and after that enable the Charge Threshold. Then I would run the high intensity tasks / benchmarks and the battery would slowly drop all the way to 55% before the charging power kicks back in. Happens when both a 45W and 65W adapter is used. Able to probably cross check against your unit in the US if that is also an issue?
I guess I will just stick with my x250
    Slot ram?
My parents bought this for me and I'm try'na figure out how it works: 0
On my 3 year old Thinkpad, I just upgraded my ram from 8 GB to 32 GB and also added an 512 gb m2 sata 2242 to the wwan card slot. It will not take an nvme card. So my laptop is probably good for another 10 years. Soldered ram is acceptable on an macbook toys from apple, but not on workhorse laptops meant for productivity. And yes, it is also has a dual battery, one of which is removable. I think the P series is the last of the true laptops worth buying. Lenovo is truly on its way out .
How do I on/off keypad lights on Lenovo ThinkPad X390
This is on sale for $699.99!
Can you please review the Thinkpad X13?
Do you plan to make a video on the new X13 that replaced the X390?
I got the 45W charger and when I have the Lenovo Vantage Charge Threshold turned on, it seems that the laptop battery keeps draining even though it is plugged it. Drivers updated and have practically every part replaced. Any idea how come that happens?
Thousand bucks is kinda high for something this low spec
I loved this review. One of the best tech reviews I have seen in a while for its simplicity and yet comprehensiveness. Many thanks
Huh, looks pretty promising. I found one for real cheap on eBay, might as well sell my x131e and buy this!
so you smoke weed? thats nice im subscribing
A guitar pick! I like your style!
Getting this next Monday Jan 4th
Dude, we make measurements is cm or even inches is fine. What is this nickel and dime system?
Hey! Just bought one of these snd pretty much everywhere it claims to have an 18 hour battery but i can't even get 6.5 hours. All I do is some YouTube Netflix and surfing. And I don't even use it in the most best performance. Everything else about it is great. If anyone could help!
    I bought this laptop yesterday
What the think with the coins.?
T490d or X1C same specs i7 , which is better and why According to your opinion? Thanks
X390 vs X280?Performance?Overall thoughts (except screen size)?
Why did"nt u opened the laptop?
    Nice review, i gotta say
It also has a magnesium roll cage on the interior for lasting durability. Great video thanks
Bought this 2 weeks ago. Great laptop.
    thank you
    Great job, thank you.
There one thing i dont like is the heat will come from the right. Lenovo should make it come from the back side.
too expensive for what it is, better off with x1 carbon or xps. X series is not the same anymore and starting price with 768 screen is a joke with customers
How many nits is the display?
At 3:11 and 13:48 you mentioned how you disliked where the Ctrl key is relative to the Fn key. Well I got my X390 today and I can tell you that as a good touch typist @ 102 wpm and uses a keyboard day in and day out every day at work, I can honestly say the Ctrl key is just fine where it is. It feel perfectly natural and I did not have to go out of my way or feel out of norm in any way with the Ctrl key. So anyone out there considering this laptop, don't let the placement of the Ctrl key turn you away It's perfectly fine where it is.
ctrl should always be where caps is
It's very interesting to me that you're one of the more positive people about the battery life on this device. Many reviewer pages have it being "mediocre" and that people will want to reach for an outlet by 6 hours. but we can also charge it with a battery backup or rapid charging which gives it around 80% in about an hour or something like that (undervolting, power plans, and operating system changes notwithstanding). That's pretty decent for the amount of juice inside of the battery IMO. I bet a savvy user could mess around with it and bring the potential up a little bit more. Liked the review overall. I'm about to buy one of these very soon.
Please do a review of what's your main laptop?
    3:46 the x360
I thought I am the only person who uses the TouchPad with thumb while typing.
I too vouch for the trackpoint. Its super slick and handy to use.
how to be wrong in one step: call out the trackpoint on a thinkpad
I had thousands of laptops through my hands, but never found anything close to Thinkpads. Can't imagine using anything else, must have owned at least 20 of them. First was A21m. I can even game pretty decent on trackpoint and always keep touchpad disabled. I'd like Lenovo to make lightweight 17" model though.
The amount of Thinkpad cult fanatics in the comments, defending the shortcomings of this laptop is INSANE.
Everyone is so focused on the trackpoint they have yet to noticed how over priced it is
I almost always use the track point 95% of the time, it’s a huge selling point Imho.
This guy sucks, why is he even here? Go have fun with you cutie surface blah blah
The touchpad does not work with gloves or under -10 degrees Celsius. In this situation, the trackpoint is very useful. you know, if you actually use this laptop for doing field work :)
This is the first LTT video I disliked
C'mon that red clit is why we actually buy Thinkpad If U take it out. bye bye Thinkpad. trust me, or not.
The fact you consider a Surface laptop to even be in the same area of greatness as a ThinkPad, shows you aren't qualified to properly review one.
The thinkpad keypad buttons are super useful.
And you can just remove the trackpoint by pullin on it
Jesus Christ, there's a massive army of Thinkpad fan boys down voting this review just because of the nipple wtf. Chill your tits people.
Thinkpads have always been advertised to handle all sorts of conditions and environments, expeditions, industry, even the space station. Now try to use the touchpad with gloves trackpoint might be there for a reason.
I think the majority rules herethe trackpad must remain.
I use the trackpoint, and actually disable the trackpad, cos it's a hell of a lot more precise
i bought lenovo thinkpad x390 but it does note have a finger print scanner
