Would you buy this for $230 brand new?
The refurbished X230 gave me something I really like (It started with a T430.) My Y520 lags, seems more flimsy and do weird stuff with the basics like watching Netflix and there is not much difference with what one really see. I would sell the Y520 if it didn't give me 2-3 things/uses that the others won't. The old T61 is nearly the same performance as the type writer laptops being sold today. Basically the old T's would blast the others away with some simple mods like DDR4 ram and another ATI chip. A Core 2 Duo, 2019, would run at 4 GHz without getting hot.
The reason why I bought this is its battery it gives 21hours battery life
I want to by one used. It loads Windows 10 and works fine, but bios is locked. What problems i might have in future?
I'm sold! It supports eGPU, it's durable, it's affordable.
I absolutely love the T4xx series, mainly because they run Linux so awesomely.

Is it really a soft touch finish? I wen't to a store today and touched an old T430 thinkpad and to my surprise it felt like rubbing sand paper. It totally steered me away from thinkpads overall and started browsing other relative options. Can you possibly tell me if the T470 models and up aren't like sand paper, id very much appreciate it! Excellent review by the way :)

I am trying to upgrade install SSD m.2 Sata 250Gb with Win 10 . I did manage to backup disk using Aomei and copy back to m.2 Sata 512gb, using adapter to normal Sata adapter. However the T470s refuse to boot cloned m.2 Sata 512Mb Win 10 clone. Would anyone have advice on this issue where the T470s refuse the recognise the clone m.2 Sata 512Gb Win 10.
Why does the laptop display go OFF and ON when you plug and unplug the charger? Can it be fixed or is it a factory setting?

I loved the t450s. I'm upset with lenovo. This seems way worse on the battery situation. Their goal was supposedly to use the same batteries in their line of lenovo t series, and they've undone that :/ So my batteries are garbage I guess. I'm curious if it runs as cool as the t450s. I'm curious if it works with the old docking station? I may get a MSI GS65 Stealth instead, since lenovo ruined this line. It's a mess. Nice review and thank you.

While watching your video the cable of my t470 gave up! I remembered your tip that the most old thigs from ibm will fit So i pulled out my old ibm thinkpad cable2005 and it worked perfectly😂👍 By the way mine works with linux mint...

The only issue with the T470 is the CPU it was low powered Intel CPU with 2-cores only. They should have included a 4-core option.
T470 is a solid business laptop, the 16GB model with 512GB SSD is a steal at just about anything under $1000.
