The in-app game reminds me of some of LEGO's proto-mixed-reality stuff from the '90s/early '00s. Some of it workd because it required interacting with physical things (e.g. Spybotics) but others were even worse than the buggy. It's a significant challenge to try to gamify toys but, as you say, the important thing is that you've got a physical toy to play with - you don't want to be looking away from it at a screen all the time. That buggy game *might* be good if it worked with 2 buggies and you could race and attack a real opponent. maybe.

I'd just save the money and another £80 to just buy the 4x4 off roader it's the superior set.
I checked the L and the XL in my Arocs-Scale trucks, they have two drive motors and a weight of 5 to 6 kg (my TGX with the container trailer). With the L the technic hub shuts down earlier than with the XL.

Dear Racing Brick. I have two questions. Where did you get the remote controller that you have in your hands? You are controlling the Lego Technic 42124 Off-road buggy with it. By the way, does it works with other Lego Technic remote controlled sets too, normally controlled by the Lego Technic app on Android devices like smartphones and tablet computers?

I have the app, but honestly, a selfmade control like you did yourself, with throttle and steering separated, is much much better than the single dual function "thumbstick" from the Technic Control app

It's funny being in the hobby grade RC scene and seeing this described as "racey" Still a bloody cool kit though.
For the price i would expect it to be alot quicker.

The Control+ app is garbage. Who thought that single joystick control was a good idea? Use the Powered Up app and this set is great. I’m considering adding lights.
This is an awesome set, I really enjoy it. It is my second control + set after Lego Technic 42099.
what happens to add a color sensor on a bottom. programming using pybricks. and turns into a line follower?
what my app are using?
The biggest limiting factor is the method of bearing rotation. Currently it’s still using bare plastic (+) profile shaft spinning in bare plastic holes. This is fine for moderate or slow speed projects with little run time, but if you’re talking about longer range radio and dusty off-road racing then this won’t last at all. I’m not complaining, I just believe LEGO is reaching their limit for performance capability

Are the motors missing from the parts list? Eitherway, I'm looking forward to getting this set. I'm graduating university this semester and as such I have lots of work to do. Good to have something like this then.

Hello, I have not commented much, but will do now due to a little push ;). So first of all about this video, I think this RC set is the best set so far for 2021, but it isn't that great. Kind of sad little thing from Technic series. I see this set more of a parts set to just get the hub and few motors. I'm eager to wait the proper flagship Lego Technic set for 2021. I've also need to comment the hamsters =). They are the stars besides the sets that are being reviewed and are the ones who arw doing the most complicated tests ;). Me and my son welcome anf salute them on behalf of our strong three legged hamster that we have =). Now, regards the ongoing giveaway, then I had to try my luck since my son wrote the Land Rover set as one of the sets he wants for Christmas on the back of a Lego catalog =). We'll see, if his wish comes true. I wish peaceful and white Cristmas to everyone and I hope that all of you (readers and commenters) have the chance to see your loved ones and gather with your families on these difficult times.
