Great instructional piece. Just got a Monotron Delay and could figure out the LFO Waveform Trim Knob - but you explained and demonstrated that perfectly. What a great little sound toy - it's going to be all over my productions until I get bored and buy something else!
korg has been really tearing it up. i almost swore off korg after spending way too much on a kaosilator pro++ but since i picked up the monologue i've got an addiction that korg is all too happy to feed with stuff like these and their volca line.

Does anyone know whether the firmware update can be done using an iPad? I have the Orba app on my iPad, but when I tried to download the Windows version on my PC the download was blocked by Microsoft as unsafe. That means I’m stuffed as far as updating the firmware goes. Apart from that I’m quite happy with it.
Sure, its a bit buggy, it has no editing (yet?), sonically a bit stunted but I commend Artiphon for doing something DIFFERENT. I think the MPE feature alone is a great way for producers with limited funds to get into more expressive control of their synthesisers.

Kudos to Nick for trying his best to make this little DOA thing remotely interesting, but it's a hard pass from me.
99 bucks, not expensive. I disagree. For what it does I'd say it's fairly expensive. As a looper synth thing it offers very little control over the sound, playback levels and structure. As a controller it offers very little direct control. If they made it motion control with buttons on the side so you could switch MIDI channel on the fly... maybe? But as is... eeh... might as well use an XY pad or joystick really.
It doesn't look very playable as a synth, but it could be useful as a wearable. If you strapped it to your wrist and mapped tilt and shake to pitchbend and modulation, it could be like the Neova ring but more affordable. I don't know how well that would work though given the size.

For the price of pocket operator you've got a mpe capable midi controller. Not too shabby. And a shaker :)
I use ikaossilator, figure, and zen labs on my phone and the workflow really works for me. I looked at the numark orbit a few years back, and thought a micro version of that would be perfect... lo and behold this is kind of it. Glad too see it's capable of spitting out a pile of data - and as a trained percussionist it's kinda twice as attractive. Heck, I'd get it as just a shaker controller. Fingers crossed on the editor!

The Orba is a lot of fun as a controller but as a stand alone, it's terrible.
This would be cool for a music classes in basic school. Put children in the group of 5 and let them play together. For adult musicians... nah.
