Kingston MacBook Pro Ram upgrade review (16gb)
16GB ram vs 8GB ram MAC (noob test)
8GB vs 16GB M1 MacBook Pro - How much RAM do you NEED?!
8GB vs 16GB for M1 Mac — The TRUTH About RAM!
My Macbook pro 15 inch has 2ghz. is this bad? it does have 16gb of ram and a 500gb HDD
my final cut pro lags my laptop is stock i never changed anything if i do what you did will the lag stop and make things run fast
If i get 8gb ram will final cut pro run smoothly on my Macbook pro 13 inch?
Uninformative video....
On my macbook pro (mid 2010) I use two 2Gb DDR3 "1067 MHz" ram for the moment. Now my question, could I use the same ram you show in the link 2x8Gb DDR3 "1333MHz"? Thanks for any answers
I like the forehead, it shows he's intelligent, no insult intended in the first place
Is that the reason you came on here? Some people can be so stupid. This guy is giving out valuable info and you're here to comment on looks? Get lost.
you have installed RAM with 1333 Mhz clock speed but earlier it was 1600Mhz as in 4gb.. ? won't it make a performance difference or compatibility issues in the longer run? please explain.
Notice the*
Anyone else the unusually large forehead...
Do you know if the early 2011 will also support 16 GB?
Thanks a lot for the review. It really helped me to make a decision!
will this work for my 13 inch late 2011?
ur "girlfriend"
this guys ugly as fuuuuuuuuuck
Yes
Hi, have there been any issues with your Mac book pro today, due to the upgraded RAM? You shouldn't but I just wanted to know.
I am not 100% sure because I do not have bootcamp on mine but I dont see a reason why it should not.
Will 16gb work on bootcamp win7 64 bits?
There's also a really nice app from appstore called memory clean that displays available ram at the top of the screen all the time :)
we need this in 2020, please bro i have macbook 15 core i7 mid 2012 with 8GB and i aske me every day (do i need more ram or need up to 16GB ram)
This tests will only result in an upgrade if you are runing softwares that changes the USE of ram from 8gb to 16gb using 100% of his capacity ... like render a 3D scene with lots of vertices....
8 or 16 ?
I think OP misinterpret the role of RAM. Open Final Cut + Photoshop After Effect + Word + Safari + Mail, etc then go from one to the other and you’ll see the real effect of more RAM.
I have an old MBP mid 2012 with 4GB ram, going to upgrade the ram.. Can anyone advise if i should get 8 or 16gb. Thinking about buying Corsair ram. Also upgrading the dreadfully slow HD for SSD. Hopefully I’ll see improvement in speed.
This was extremely helpful to me...thank you. I appreciated the demo as well as some of the comments other people made so that I (a technically challenged individual) could be more informed before my iMac purchase. Thanks again!
Wow... This video was uploaded in mid 2012 and my Laptop from 2015 still has only 4 GB of RAM...
pls delete this stupid video...
You need an SSD, not more RAM. That's how you see the difference.
Do not upgrade with more ram unless you use more apps in the same time or you use 2-3 operating system in the same time your system use only 3gb of ram check activity monitor app ...your system become faster only with a faster processor i7 and best ssd only
l have a mbpr 2012, does bumping it up to 16GB RAM, make a significant difference? l can get it done, but its not as straight forward as a normal computer, as have to solder on the RAM? but if worth it l will do, as if l open up a 3 major softwares, it becomes sluggish
Large textures, huge couple of GB files in PS where more RAM could make a job. Rendering is GPU.
The 8GB of RAM is little bit faster sometimes is Definitely because of something working or other parameters on his Mac 🖥
llol
I render not using the Apple Mac but I render with a AMD Ryzen PC with 8Gig DDR4. RAM doesn't make your machine faster but it does make it more expensive and slower. The funniest thing is using 4 RAM sticks actually slows the entire machine down not up. Some people are cooling the MAC Book Pro in a walk in freezer during rendering it apparently helps a lot there are few videos online on how to do this unfortunately you may need a Winter jacket for this and the freeze uses a lot of electricity.
Thank you for helping me save money on RAM.
I’d like to see this test between 16 and 32
Apple hardware is known to be upgrade unfriendly. although like people have pointed out, you need to use more than 8GB to see a difference! Like content creation and gaming! Your "elder's" laptop is probably fine with 2 or 4 gb for chrome and facebook. :) If you're going to game at latest games in steam and windows 10 store on a GTX1070, you might has well have 16GB of ram before buying a SSD. If your content creation oriented, defenitly buy a SSD before the RAM.
Haha :D
It was funny to watch how you start like ' that's weird' and then to ' alright sometimes 8GB wins' :) Very fair video. Thank you!

Do you suggest 16GB + 256 GB Mac Book Air or 8Gb +512 GB Mac Book Air for using parallel and virtual box?
Thanks for the info
i guess i'll use that saved $200 on more storage! coming from a 2017 base MacBook pro I think I can handle 8 gb lol
How do you clear your ram usage?
You have a very good approach and very helpful good job
Thanks for the video!
How would the 16gb perform with several apps open at once? Like photoshop, illustrator, etc? I’m debating whether I should get the 16gb since I plan on using several apps at once and I don’t it to skip a beat while I design. Know what I mean?
you really need to have 50 tabs open on safari or something at the same time, light room classic is nothing, all new computer can do
Geekbench shouldn't really be memory dependant if they've done it properly other than the specific test for it
Extra $200 for another 8gb ram? In my pc would have bought 32gb with that money. Sad seeing apple ripping people.
☕..."cuz I'm tired"😂
A $200 upfront upgrade cost for doubling the memory is ALWAYS worth it. Don't forget, you can't upgrade later for any amount of money.
Thanks for the great content Max Tech crew!! Question: I know performance is great in either spec but I've been worried about the much increased swap memory usage and decreased lifespan because of this. Should I get a 16gb variant for a 6+ year lifespan or is this concern unnecessary? My usage will be mainly typing, having 12+ safari tabs open and light photo/video editing occasionally. Keep up the excellent work :)
The frantic dramatization of technical benchmarking of computer chips is hilarious to me.
Great test, thankyou! Just One question; what if I connect a 27” UHD monitor to my -still not unboxed- 8g pro 13” (my first laptop)?
I can't wait for the new M1/M1X Macbook pro 16 It will handle 8K like butter
Let me get this right, 3 mins to export a 42mb RAW file?? Are you serious? My machine does this in less than 15 secs, and its only an i5 Intel.
hi! I kindly ask for your advice for my planned purchase of an m1 macbook pro. I am a student using my current macbook pro for daily basis with basic multitasking like reading pdf’s and simultaneously having web search on chrome while apps like spotify, zoom, whatsapp, microsoft office and dictionaries run in the background. Considering that I am thinking of a long-term purchase (like 6-7 years) but I also need considerable amount of ssd for my files etc. as well, is it enough to get 8gb ram for m1 macbook pro for my basic multitasking usage in the long run or should I go for 16gb one? thanks in advance.
The 8GB model is going to spend a lot of time in swap, writing random data and wear out the SSD a lot faster.
Do you suggest 16GB + 256 GB Mac Book Air or 8Gb +512 GB Mac Book Air for using parallel and virtual box?
This is the best video I’ve found about the advice I needed for the MacBook. Thank you
Anyone that thinks integrated ram is a good thing ima bout to start swinging 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️
If we purchased the 8GB of RAM, are we f*cked?
talk talk talk for 10 min about nothing.. this is "YOUTUBE" videos for nothing.,..
Ordered my first mac ... a mac mini. I am an amateur web developer and use a 8GB ryzen 5 laptop and a 8GB ryzen 5 desktop. 8GB works fine for my setting on windows ... hoping it'll be enough for the time being on macos. $200 looks painful for 8GB ram.
My Stepdad just told me everything you said- Future Proofing. I believe and trust him but I wanted to see what other folks were saying. I have a late 2020 Intel MacBook Air, it is trash for what I need to accomplish. I want to upgrade-- Looks like im getting a M1 MacBook Pro with 16g or RAM and 512ssd... Great video!!
Just get straight to the point lol
I know I will buy the 16gb version anyway.
Circle jerking on public time is so mind numbing. This was an ego fluff by an elitist in disguise of a nerd. Full hypothesis, 0 conclusion, & 0 help. End of story.
People would still saying the thing if the choices would have 16 GB or 32 GB of ram instead of the 8 GB or 16 GB...the 8 GB of ram on the arm architect works just as well as 16 GB of arm on a x86 type system....this is new compared to pseudo-ancient x86
I put 64GB into my last issue 2020 Intel iMac27. Don't get it from Apple, Crucial is 1/3 of the price and better than the Samsung Mac uses
this guy got the 16gb version
Most laptops are much expensive bin japan than the M1 Mac, and asus or HP high end laptop costs more than the M1 Mac, so buying it makes sense specifically in japan.
Just picked up this 13" pro. 16 with a tar. I love it--no more windows.
My Air M1 I found out is an 8 split on memory...had I been a working pro I would have gotten 16 like my i7 PC but I decided to stay with the 8 config.
This was so honest review and helped me make my decision! Thanks alot.
Tim iPhone 13 will have 1-2 More gigabyte then you Thoghet Gigabyte For Blazing GPU Games, your Startegy is Bad.
There Will be fast 32 Gigabyte RAM MacBook 16 Inch. Work. For Very GPU Consuming Apps in killer idea. And 128 Gigabyte for iMac for Blazing Up the CPU. And Even 32 Gigabyte or 16 on The small box with 4 CPU and 8 GPU.
I'm looking at Activity Monitor right now on my 2012 MacBook Pro with 16gb of RAM. I never do this. I have 2 monitors running Safari and Chrome tabs open on each monitor. Not running anything intensive. My desktop is clean. I'm using 9.88GB of memory. This made the decision for me. 16GB is good advice. I spend $200 just to walk into Sam's Club. Well OK, the Memory Used is down to 9.01GB now... I use this thing for several hours each day. Save money on garbage bags. Life is very short.
