Just bought One of the makers flute you are reviewing n couldn't visit him in person as I live abroad n it's over tuned if it makes sense. As u say go in person to pick flute. Just cos its a famous maker doesn't mean its gona be bang on for everyone in my opinion. The problem is I have few flutes of average cost n I have to keep rolling it in n out to get tune so I m struggling to play in tune even with this famous maker. Could it be me?
Hello sir, I had some questions regarding buying the Punam flutes that should I buy from Amazon or from their official website. This is because they are not engraving name on amazon and because there are some negative reviews on amazon Second: that how do I know that this flute is perfect or damaged? Third: does the flute have some dents or marks on it due to insects and if it is do they damage the tonal quality? Hope you would help

As an experienced flutist from Turkey, I can say that Sarfuddin flutes are the best. They are far better than Punam flutes. Punam costs more than twice.. However, the flutes I got from Punam was not tuned properly. They weren't very bad, but they were not precise enough for professional use. Mr. Subhash Thakur admitted that he doesn't use any tuner. He makes the flutes by ear, so tuning is flawed. Subhash Thakur scrapes of the shiny outer layer of the bamboo with sand paper. This is very bad! The shiny outer layer contains glass and slica, which make the flute strong and sound better. Mr. Sarfuddin's flutes are perfectly tuned. Tuning of Sarfuddin flutes are as good as Boehm flutes. He uses older, darker bamboo with some stains. But old bamboo is stronger, more otantic, and gives better sound. Also he keeps the shiny outer layer of the bamboo. Trust me, Sarfuddin flutes are better. Unfortunately, their marketting is not very good.

I want to buy E base flute as my guruji suggested me...so should i buy Deepak Soni flute ? I want an accurately tuned flute with decent tonal qualities and no distortions/hissing/cracking sound... Sir, I observed that in punam and kantibhai flute, the distance between last and secondlast hole ( pa and dha) is more than other holes,which makes it difficult to play pa note. So, can I get the flute of same scale but lesser distance between pa and dha.

I bought deepak soni flute. But the cork in it was of rubber and it came out from it's place I bought 6-7 flutes and 4-5 flutes had that problem. If someone buys then u can tell to use a wooden cork.

Very good, can you tell us physical configuration is. Bamboo size, finger and blowing hole size, hole distance? Then it could be more infomative to buying decision. Someone who have small finger may difficult to cover hole.
What problem came up with kanha flute.
I have purchased Bansuri from many flute makers. I acquired few recently from Ramesh Bakale and he makes one of the finest Bansuri, excellent tuning, well seasoned bamboo and keeps the price very affordable. I am very touched by his humble attitude and all he cares about his customer satisfaction and not Money. There have come some new flute makers these days and claim to produce premium and concert quality Flutes. In my opinion they definitely need to learn from this man how to interact with customers and keep the quality high rather than marketing. Very much happy with the quality flute.

Why do punam flute and bakale's ji flute have difference in measurements. I bought bakales g scale flute it is 24 inches. And punam flute is 25 inches... Please give me some knowledge
