This made me decide not to buy the wrist BP monitor. Thank you!
Great video. A clear message that upper arm is more accurate due to testing at the height of your heart. As well as removing the increased pressure with the wrist elevation technique.
Cuff measurements: 117/70 - Ahh, I feel good about myself! Then: 214/86, 197/89, 178/105 - Why am I not DEAD?!
I consistently get lower (“normal”?!) readings when sitting relaxed and upright, with my elbow and wrist straight, level with the heart and supported on a flat table (at heart height!) though...
Lying down I figured everything would be level and accurate, but I still got ridiculously high readings!
We have traditional bp monitor and wrist,.., but the wrist is not accurate sometimes but my traditional is good
Okay, sorry but, it's better to get an incorrect/inaccurate reading than not checking? Well, I guess it's better than nothing :). Thanks, doc!
I commenced following this hypertension method , Notovα Shocking Plan (Go ogle it) recently and have already seen a good change in my blood pressure level! It has stabilized my blood pressure, no question about that. In the short time of SOMETHING LIKE 20 days, my blood pressure levels lessened. After Twenty-five days and nights my pressure is normal (for me) 120/55.
So how accurate is NOT taking your BP measurement...???
Very helpful, thank you Dr
When I bought one on Amazon I’m a young 23 healthy adult but I thought it would be still get a check my blood pressure once in a while when I bought this device every time I would use it they would be extremely dangerously high which made me freak out but then I bought a regular blood pressure device and it was a normal range.
Hi doc,i'm considering this wrist bp monitor it's because I am not comfortable with the manual type or even the machine type.
Not just uncomfortable i panic just seeing the aparatus,so my bp would be really really high coz i can't relax.
Deep breathing and nice thought doesn't work at all for me.
Ok, it is less accurate. But it will be great if you can give a rule of thumb, such as, grab your right shoulder, use your right hand to support the palm of your left hand while measuring, and the actual diastolic should be minus 3-5 from the shown value, etc.
So wrist style is waste?
I think mine is broken.... I got 148/108, 141/88, and then 119/79 back to back. Seems like they scare you more than help. Also, does wrist size matter? Would a large body builder not be able to get accurate readings?
Can these be wrong because my brother who is 25 years old healthy measured his BP and it read 150/98 and he felt completely fine. Then my mother checked hers and it read 160/87 and she was resting and felt fine.??? In other words can cheap blood pressure cuffs or blood pressure cuffs that are more than 2 years old be this inaccurate?
The wrist cuff said my boo was 148 90. Then 159 op then 190 100 in within seconds lol
Then I bought the omron evolv it The first reading was 148 88 two days later is 129 78
It’s a lot easier to use
The point is more accurate at the wrist or biceps?

Since I'm not made of glass, how do I tell exactly where my heart is? Does the monitor itself need to be at heart hight or the hand? (in-between, above or below?) There seems to be a lot of leeway. I'm getting all kinds of cray readings every time I use my BP monitor. It seems so simple, but I'm having a hard time. Can you use either wrist? I have tennis elbow on my left (I was told to use my left only since I am right handed) and it hurts like hell. Also why does it do it a second time automatically after the first reading (that really blows out my arm and wrist)? Please help.
Thank you for explaining
I put the cuff near my thumb and got an error.message.
Over the radial got an accurate message though.
Also wondering why the left hand offers greater accuracy.
The instructions on mine says on wrist not up as you demonstrated but your a doc so I’ll go with you 😀
It very difficult for me to find a blood monitor to place on my upper arm because I have been a bodybuilder aficionado for many years and I don't have a really big arm 17".5 inches even some Drs don't have the right monitor to check my blood in the arm.
which is the most accurate blood pressure device, the one on the wrist or the one on the upper arm/biceps?
Wow, so what you are telling me that cuff is as accurate like the arm monitor. My Blood pressure goes up when I see an arm cuff.
Smh. All this time I have been doing it incorrectly! Thanks!
Why do the instructions on my BP cuff advise I lean my left elbow on my desk at my heart level,, and keep the machine flush with the bottom of my wrist, not aligned with my thumb? When I measure my BP the way instructions advise I get normal readings, but when I measure the way you show in this video I get abnormal readings. Any advice?
Why does every other video show monitor in middle forearm opposed on side wrist ?? I am so confused
Check it when I wake in the morning and 30 minute after a 30 minute ride on my exercise bike. I am 76 years old.
At home blood pressure is normal at the doctor's its really high doc wants me on meds any advise.
HOW DO I VIEW BACK BPS ON A WRIST MACHINE.
HOW TO GET PAST READINGS?
Very helpful, thanks, have a question though: I had already ordered a wrist monitor (yet to arrive) after which I found out it's not as accurate as the arm one, which would be more helpful: after getting its reading, to go to the pharmacy and have it checked with the arm monitor to find out the difference in readings then add (or subtract) that every time I use the wrist monitor? Or, should I consider the average of both readings to be the accurate one? Thanks loads!
Just tried it twice the way you showed and got ridiculously high readings both times...I had my blood pressure taken a month ago in the emergency room and even with my elevated anxiety & the excruciating pain of the automatic arm cuff, my reading was nowhere near as high as this was, just relaxing in my living room...Something is wrong...
When we check it three times, which one should we use as the actual BP?
excellent, very clear, thank you
Using the cuff is very painful, so much so that I occasionally bruise. Having the option of the wrist monitor is wonderful, especially now that I know how to position it correctly.
