After doing some research into tenor sax lately, I started to wonder if replacing the mouthpiece on my Mendini (like I am doing w/ my new sax) would help. Glad my theory was accurate. A shorter barrel is called a clarinet doubling barrel. The lead alto saxophonist is playing a big band job. The Bb clarinet is cold on the sax stand peg, but in 8 bars, he has to pick it up, and play lead clarinet on the sax soli, (Glenn Miller). The shorter doubling barrel allows him to be in tune on a cold instrument.
It's so sharp because you are trying to tune with the shorter doubling barrel. Tune to concert Bb tuning note, middle C and A=440 tuning note middle B using longer concert barrel.

I don't play clarinet, though I do plan on learning here soon. I LOVED seeing the perspective on the tech. Listening to the clarinets, I couldn't tell the difference (well... until the blind playing test. I got it right. I just listened for airiness. lol) ANYWHO! It was really neat to see the mistakes in how it's made.... that reveals the real truth.

I'm learning on a silvertone and I'm beginning to want an upgrade .... damn thing cost me $60 USD used too !
I listened to those and then a wooden "Mozart " clarinet. It's like the difference between a yugo and a Cadillac.
My clarinet cost 70 and Im in an orchestra.

The problem you speak of is not a problem at all, my friend. Thars how a German system clarinet is designed.Even with German (Oehler system) clarinets that are $5,000 $6,000 or even $10,000 you will see the same design with the keys.That's just the nature of the German system clarinet.The French (Boehm system) clarinet has the screw you are speaking of.The German (Oehler system) clarinet doesn't have the screw because it was not designed that way.Again, it's just the nature of the German (Oehler system) clarinet.
Mahmoud Sir, bless your heart for all of these videos. Kindly help me with advice. I too need an inexpensive Albert/Oehler clarinet. On Ali Express, they are selling various ones: with 17 keys, 19 keys, 20, 21 and even 26 keys! What does this mean? How many keys does your clarinet have? (No information have I found anywhere about these features.)
