I got this for Christmas. It's ok. I'm an audiophile, and the wife saw 2 different sets of JBL ear buds and that's where she got the idea. The problem? The earbuds were free. I didn't buy them and probably never would unless I saw them at Big Lots for 5 bucks or so. Anyway, i gave this speaker a shot. It's ok. Waterproof is nice, and that's why I'm going to keep it. But the wife and i did some sound tests, and if waterproof is not important to you at all, this speaker is a terrible deal. We tested this against my Nyne Bass bluetooth speaker, and the Nyne absolutely destroyed this is every measurable way except raw volume. And it's less than half the price. (I paid 99, but I've seen them for as low as 60 bucks) And this isn't an ear test either. We actually TESTED them. We took measurements using sound equipment (I told you, I'm an audio freak) and this speaker did quite poorly. The Nyne has issues connecting to bluetooth sometimes, and the range is awful, but the sound makes this look like a Walgreens speaker.
JBL Xtreme 2 is nice and all but unfortunately it cant play low frequency sound from 20-60 Hz.
2021 JBL extreme 2 looks old but it can be pack a punch to a party anywhere with a bass also a speaker phone to make calls.

I would suggest to test it with more dynamic music not just for the dance music. How about some metal, rock, Americana with acoustic guitar, classical and jazz too. That would really test the overall quality of the sound. I heard many speakers that sound good like the JBL here with that particular music but are horrible for anything else. Even Bose is struggling sometimes with certain dynamic music over all frequencies. That would allow people with different/wider taste in music than you make their decision. I know it is 2 years old post, but in the future

three months after ownership a midrange speaker separated from the cone, I had to glue it and it did not hold. This is a defect Harmon Kardin refuses to take ownership of. I am buying the new sony speaker and will never buy another JBL speaker again

Bought one for 150$ I love JBL product I have Party Box 100 and Xtreme 2. I used the Xtreme 2 more it's easy to carry and waterproof it's like the Gopro of speakers I even take it on hikes , kayaking we're the party box is to heavy I used the party box more for parties or family bbq we're I don't have to carry it much
pfff, still stuck between the extreme2, boombox2 and the party box 100. note that here in mauritius, the BB2 and PB2 has the same price i.e 2x the price of the extreme2

I have tried to link my jbl charge 3 with my ddj400 (3.5mm port on charge3), but there are some issues when in low volume part of the song, the speaker is completely out, no sound. So would you recommend buying an xtreme2 for dj at home?thanks!

Don’t buy a turtlebox. They are junk. They have zero bass output and they are not that loud. I went with this JBL model and it’s much better.

Yo I have the xtreme 1 should I upgrade to xtreme 2 I’m not if I should or not because I have heard that the xtreme 1 gets a bit louder but the xtreme 2 have better bass and better quality

With size of jbl extreme 2 I expect more sound but when I play both speakers one by one I did not notice big difference. Oh god jbl extreme 2 is huge near jbl charge 4 but that size did not give very loud thats why jbl charge 2,3,4, whatever it is .it is best among all jbl.

I purchased the Flip 5 and about 3 months later I purchased the Charge 4 and to be honest I was disappointed in the Charge 4. I ended up selling it
I'm lucky to own both and often use them in tandem. The charge 4 is a better allrounder but sometimes u was the extra grunt of the extreme2 and the ability to take a phone call from it is also a great feature.
