Spectre? Ghost cool model names when are gonna get the the bloated corpse you put your fingertips on, don't mind the smell its a years model will be made of kitten bones it meows when you open the lid, it's a happy meow it was recorded long before it was your new laptop.
This laptop performs like a laptop with a good processor integrated graphics card, and spacious RAM. Look elsewhere if you’re a hardcore gamer or graphics designer, but for most people this will hit all the marks. Speakers are fine with reasonable loudness, but it's silly to review ultrabook speakers beyond that you need headphones or external speakers for serious listening.

I think I got a lemon then because after a solid 4 months, if i just turned on my Spectre, the fans would go fucking crazy and the core temperature would just immediately go up to 80 celsius or higher.

It is two years later and HP has a model that falls in between the 2016 and the thing quad core 2018 model with a dual core I7. I call it: "the wolf in sheep clothes". The looks of this laptop was what floored me and made me curious to look at it, even in late 2018. So I bought one, I also have worked on many other laptops and none was a thin as this one. One thing that impressed me and that is the typing, I know this is one model later than you reviewed. What is impressive to me might not be impressive to others. The hard drive issue, I want to address this first. These are Samsung PM961 drives. The Surfacebook 2 has a similar drive and performs just as "poor". What a lot of people forget is that this drive has it's own caching options and running this through UserBenchMark will show the drive to be performing exceptionally well. That being said, the fan gets loud easily, it does not seem to have a spin up, just goes into full blast like my furnace or air conditioner. However the thunderbolt ports, being able to push a UHD screen at 4k at 60hz easily is amazing. Even for a 2017 model in 2018. It is actually super useful using this one with two monitors if needed. The battery life is not something I am concerned with I can even bring a battery pack with 20k Amps and keep the machine running or many more hours on USB-C. Simplicity: Darn HP got it right, the speaker system, the keyboard, the simple on/off button and this one does not have Windows Hello yet, but the 2018 model does. Why I prefer this over the X360 us immediately clear from the get go: The looks of this thing are like a Ferrari to a BMW, where the X360 represents the BMW. It is a privilege to work on this sucker, but I would love to have the option to 16Gb using all the lanes of to support the Intel 620. I can always hook up an external GPU through the thunderbolt ports. Something that the Surfacebook 2 lacks and even the later 2018/2019 models. I think HP got a lot right here, I want to get my hands on a newer model and see how it performs. Love your reviews Andrew - keep them coming - even when someone in 2018 responds to a 2 year old video.

The track pad I though sucked as well at first. But just go into the synaptics track padding settings under smartsense and adjust it. The trackpad becomes so much better. Also upgrade to the latest BIOS if you are using the version of Windows 10 Pro. Once you have done all that the latptop is really good. I got mine used for $650.00.
I've just ordered one of these for uni. Hoping it gets me through the next four years ☺️

How repetitive is this guy. He says the same thing over and over again in slightly different ways. Seriously, is there some additional revenue stream from unnecessarily long videos? Is this why every youtuber loves the sound of their own voice?
Undeniable is the fact that you can't beat the looks though. If you're buying strictly for the aesthetic and the design, which is the best in my opinion, there really is not other alternative for this.

hey which do u think is the best for heavy music production (im strictly gonna use it to make music and need it to be portable because i need to move it around as well) hp spectre 13 i7 8550u hp elitebook 840 g5 i5 8250u hp zbook studio g4 i5 7300hq (4cores 4 threads instead of 8) ive heard that u series are bad for working with programs/DAWs because its just not powerful enough. but on the other hand i have an option to go hq but with less threads. which one do u suggest? all of them have 16 ram which is perfect for me and all of them cost around the same price like 700$ second hand

I've got the black edition, and I can say with confidence that it is by far the best ultrabook I've ever used. I bought it in 2017 alongside two of my friends who got a Surface, and a MacBookPro at that time. Both of them have changed chargers, had to part with their piece for several weeks for some hardware/software bugs/issues, and one of them had to format last year. I never touched anything on Spectre and it runs as smoothly as the first day I got it, and I am being serious here. It is truly a piece of mastery and I a proud to own one. It feels like a laptop built to accompany you through the digitalization era. It responds well and accurately, although Cortana sometimes pops up on her own. It records all my personal data and activity so I can have a better idea of myself when time is relevant. My digital twin will be also easier to construct thanks to the backup data collected by HP. This is an intro into the future that awaits us. I am currently looking for a new side-laptop for coding / visual software and if there was a Spectre 2020 I'd grab it. For now, I might go with the Surface as it seems to be the 2nd best combo of fine aesthetic, performance, characteristics, lifespan, and price, after Spectre laptop.

If I am looking for an i5, Full HD, 256 GB, 8GB, white laptop- (I only do light work, no gaming or video editing), would you recommend the HP spectre 2017, or the XPS 13 9380? (I know it's a strange comparison with many differences and that one is brand new and the other is 2 yrs old, but I absolutely love the look of the HP more than the XPS 13, however, the battery life is a major difference and I can not find where to even buy the HP spectre with those specs. What do you think? Any advice please?

HP absolutely nailed the design of this machine! It's something that looks truly unique. My only complaint about this laptop would be a lack of an SD card slot.
